About two years ago I gave up rice entirely. For someone who ate it every day, that was a big thing. But it was blood-pressure related. Since going on the Paleo Diet (which I discovered quite by accident during a backpacking trip in Yosemite - I was naturally on what I now know is called the Paleo Diet), combined with regular exercise and ample sleep at night, I no longer need to take blood pressure pills. Rice (in fact, all pasta) is a "no-no" on the Paleo, along with all processed foods. With my B/P now in the 70/120 range, my MD couldn't believe it. I explained to her in detail how easy it was to eliminate high blood pressure. She didn't even take a single note; just said "Kevin, you're very lucky, most people never get off high blood pressure medication." Which should tell you all you want to know about MD's. Back to the Forbidden Rice. I tried this and with about 3 TBSP's of cooked Forbidden Rice (don't overdue it!), there is no impact on my B/P reading. Plus it has a lot of good antioxidants ! Formerly reserved for Emperors of China (hence the term "Forbidden"), try it and become an Emperor.

I had this at a restaurant a few months back and it was amazing! I had to have it, so I bought 6 bags lol. I'm still trying to perfect my rice cooking techniques, but I cant seem to match how the restaurant did it. I'm sure they just followed the directions on the bag, that would probably end up with the best results. But me, I'm slightly difficult. I purchased a Neuro Fuzzy rice cooker over a year ago and that thing is my best friend. It cooks rice, that's what it's made for! But for some reason when I cook this rice in my cooker, it ends up Al Dente. Not a bad thing, but I just want it to be fuller, softer, etc. I'm not giving up because I know how delicious this rice is. I'm open to suggestions if anyone else uses a Neuro Fuzzy.

Great stand alone rice! I wouldn't recommend using this rice with "served over rice" dishes such as beans and rice, stir fry, etc. But, as a side dish served on it's own! awesome! Healthier than brown rice and also better tasting! If you're new to black rice, you may need to get used to the texture. Especially if you're coming straight from white rice. But, I believe that the health benefits outweigh dealing with funny texture. And you will get used to it eventually.

As someone who has difficulty digesting grains...especially rice, I found this grain amazing! It is chewy like a wild rice and digests very easily. I have found that the high iron content as well as the protein has helped me with my anemia and my work out regiment. The tastes is so nice by itself because it is nutty and really has a great flavor on its own. I have made it a staple in my diet now as a protein source and carb source for energy while I lose weight. It fills you up without feeling heavy like most rice. Because it is so dark in color I forget I am actually eating rice at all. I strongly recommend this product! It is a high quality organic rice and was packaged well for delivery. I am very happy with Lotus Foods.

I had been buying this rice at a physical store. It is fantastic. It is fluffy, sticky, and tastes amazing. The high antioxidants and the clinical trial showing it lowers histamine are additional excellent perks. When my local store sold out of this brand, I tried another, and it was terrible—flavorless, dry, bad texture. I got on Amazon and ordered this brand in bulk. I included pictures of this rice cooked and uncooked. I use it to make juk, stir-fry, in soups, and in Mexican dishes.

I just received this so have only made it once, but there is no review here so I thought I'd leave one. First, I always cook rice in the oven where I do not have to worry about it scorching, etc., as on top of the stove. This cooked fine and has more body and substance than is usual in a white rice. More tooth. Personally, I like it, though it is too expensive to replace my other rices on a frequent basis. And I like variety :-) But I will buy it again every few months on into the future. It is somewhat sticky, but that is normal for arborio type rices. It is hard to describe the flavor, and it does actually have flavor which all white rices do not. A soothing wholesome ricey starchiness is the closest I can come. To cook rice in the oven, I use a lidded glass pyrex casserole and cook rice for about 30 minutes at 350F. That is starting in a cold oven. You can vary the temp and time to suit other things in the oven with it. The rice does not seem to care. Can be anything from 250F to 400 F, with the cooking time changing with the temperature. Your oven may vary. :-) Any rice can be cooked this way. Use the same liquid to rice ratio as for stove top cooking.

First time Forbidden rice user-Love it!! I cook it up and it is great cold in salads ,Veggie dishes , Nice to put a slab of King salmon on ( I live in Alaska ) Nice flavor , I have cooked it broths with Saffron and other spices , Stirred in Green Onions and fresh crushed garlic right after it is done cooking and let it sit for 5+ minutes and the garlic gets cooked-Sometimes a raw egg stirred into it right after it is done and the heat cooks the egg -Great stuff !!

Lotus Foods Organic Brown Jasmine Rice, 25-Pound Bag SEE BELOW FOR PRICING GRIPE, BUT I GIVE THE PRODUCT I RECEIVED 5 STARS A+ I give a five star A+ for this purchase of Organic Brown Jasmine Rice due to its great fresh smell, fresher inventory, excellent batch tracking, and overall uniform smooth appearance, feel, and smell. It was like purchasing a quality brown rice single dinner box, but in a bulk size. The color and texture is uniform and can be stored in three (1)-gallon Mylar bags vacuum sealed for freshness and a prepper-recommended 5-year shelf-life (at least). I sifted the rice and found no sign of foreign materials or other organic life that includes any signs of pest presence, worms, cocooning, webbing, moths, or myriad other hidden dangers lurking in some brands (according to video & eyewitness reviews) of those compromised bags of rice. I can only speak for this specific batch of only the "Lotus Foods Organic Brown Jasmine Rice." It is a product of Cambodia, and handles through California in the United States for quality control and distribution. I am also aware not each bag to the next will be as pure as the one I received, but I have confidence you will not be disappointed. I will purchase again if/when needed/available. Thank you very much! MY ONLY GRIPE: AFTER MY ONE PURCHASE OF THIS 25 lb. BAG AT $49.14 (PRIME FREE SHIPPING) THE SELLER JACKED THE PRICE UP BY ABOUT 20% WITHIN A WEEK OF MY PURCHASE (ABOUT A WEEK). I HOPE THE PRICE RETURNS TO $45-$50.

Love this rice!! It taste great and has a good texture. I get asked all the time what kind of rice it is. I've given out several packs to friends. It's even better knowing this is one of the healthiest rices on the market. I cook in my instant pot for 23 minutes and every time turns out perfect!!

we go through a lot of rice in our house so buying this bulk rice was a great idea. This is probably the best jasmine rice we have ever had. It comes from Cambodia and has an excellent fragrance and Cooks up really well. Cost per ounce this is really really worth it and this is our second purchase. the bag that it's packaged in is well constructed so it got here with no leaks I just wish that it was in a container that was sealable but no big deal we just transferred it to a closable container
