Awesome product! My 2 year old has trouble understanding the concept of time, and it is so nice to tell him that when the light turns red the time is up! He knows when it blinks yellow that he has 5 more minutes and when the red happens then times up! It has a little alarm so you can hear the alert but it isn't obnoxious or extremely loud. I definitely recommend this product!!

We use this daily for mornings as our daughter like most kids hate getting ready for school. Rather than the constant nagging/yelling we set the timer and 1/2 way through it turns yellow. She then knows to step it into high gear (sometimes that's the gunshot that actually gets her out of bed if she's struggling. It has been great as this allows her the freedom to manage her time as she wants yet stay on a schedule we as a family can use to get the day started. Then she always manages to make it down for breakfast on time. (the penalty is no computer time that night if it's red before she's ready. She has also asked to use this many times to help her manage her own time on the the computer (wants to play a game 1/2 the time and catch up on some video's the remainder). We've had it for most of this year and it has really helped ease the turmoil the mornings had morphed into.

LOVE this timer. I purchased this for our three year old, to help remind him to go potty while playing. It works beautifully! More importantly, he loves it. He reminds us to set the timer for him. We have since used it for a bath time timer, quiet play timer and bedtime timer. It is very easy to use. Just rotate the top dial to the amount of time you want the red light to go off at. Rotate the bottom dial for the yellow warning light. We usually do it 5 minutes before the red light. "5 minute warning!" So worth getting!!!!

I purchased this timer for my son and I to use to remind us when it was time for him to use the potty. After using it, I feel like I will add it to my classroom too. The light on top served as a great visual for those who can't read yet. Red means stop and green means go. If the light changing wasn't clue enough for us the beeping was the attention-getter. Loud but not loud enough to scare you. The timer is extremely easy to use and any child five and up could easily use it. Learning Resources is one of my favorite brands and this item did not disappoint. The only thing I didn't like, was that we had to restart it every time rather than it beginning again as soon as the alarm was turned off. I wish there was a button to make it repeat to save on time.

I really like this timekeeper, it is easy to use and the kids loved it The noise it makes is not too loud, but enough for a class doing group work to hear. The colors green to yellow to red also help. It is about 6 inches high, which is just fine. I have two small issues that would make this product sensational: The battery case is screwed in with a tiny screw... which is a pain because you need to keep one in your classroom, and it makes it difficult to change. The timer is in increments of 5 minutes, and I think it would be great if it was in 2 or 3 minutes for time under 10 minutes. I would highly recommend this, even with my issues, because it really works well and gets the job done.

This product has revolutionized nap time! For 2 of my children working out of naps, I have them rest for a bit, and then when the yellow timer comes on, they can read silently. When the red timer lights up, they can get up. It alleviates them asking every five minutes if they could get up. As some reviewers stated, I did find the timer difficult to figure out the yellow band, but nothing difficult enough to take away a star. The green band is for the total duration/number of minutes you want the timer to run. The yellow light is controlled by the yellow band. I always think, "In X minutes, I want the yellow light to come on." Set the yellow band for that number. Red light comes on when time's up. You can set it just to light up and not have the sound accompany the buzzer, which I like because often my 4 year old naps, but my 5 year old does not. To do this, there is a dial on the back that turns the timer on and also controls the volume. I'd buy again i a heartbeat!

Before this timer, bedtime for my 2 1/2 year old was an ordeal every night. This tool let us reconfigure her thinking; instead of her trying to drag out bedtime, if she's ready before the light turns red, she gets a treat - so whenever she finishes a task (brushes teeth, gets out of the tub, gets in pajamas) we check the timer to 'see if it's still green.' And it works like a dream - bedtime prep has gone from averaging an hour to 45 minutes! While that doesn't sound like much - as any parent knows, an extra 15 minutes of 'me time' is priceless. We did have some confusion on the warning alarm function initially, as other reviewers have commented. Instructions were minimal, and not clear. As in the picture, there are two 'dials' around the body - the green top ring is the timer, and the yellow bottom ring is the warning alarm. Initially, my assumption was you set the warning alarm to how far in advance you wanted the warning. However, this is not the case - the yellow ring is set to how long to wait before giving the warning. For example, if you want to set the alarm to go off in 30 minutes, and to give a 5-minutes remaining warning, you'd set the green dial to 30 minutes, and set the yellow dial to 25 minutes (NOT 5 minutes). Once this is understood, the timer is pretty straight-forward!

We homeschool and so some days there is very little structure. This timer has been so useful when it comes to piano practicing, tidying a room, or finishing a meal. We love that there are a few different options on setting the time and the alarm is loud enough that they can hear it from the other room. If I don't want to disturb one child while they are doing side work I can turn the volume all the way down and the light will flash alone.

Homework battles? Bath time issues? Then this timer is a Must Have!!! It makes the timer the "bad guy" instead of you and you can't argue with a clock. My son is a notorious procrastinator and has a hard time understanding how long a minute, 5 min 10 min etc. really is, so giving him a warning doesn't help and we don't always have a digital clock nearby. We even tried giving him a watch but it was more of a distraction than help. This timer is the perfect solution. Pro's & Cons's It doesn't have a count down timer (which I prefer since many kids get distracted by watching the clock tick down) but uses color changes and a alarm to warn them. In my house green means you've got plenty of time and yellow indicates the half way mark. Definitely read the reviews on how to set the times cause the yellow band is really how long the light will stay green (not how long it will be yellow which would make more sense. The green band is total time. You can also adjust the volume on the warning alarm which is nice if you have kids that are sensitive to loud/sudden sounds. The light is very bright (we've even used the timer as a night light in a pinch). I always take it with me on long car trips to keep track of how long each kid has been playing with a toy/electronic device. I set in one of the cup holders (it fits perfectly!) and they can both easily see what color they have (for those trips I have it turn yellow when there is 5 min left). It has been so positive for my son that even his teacher wants one for her classroom (he's in 1st grade). I am a former middle and high school teacher and plan to use it when I return to the classroom.

My two year old had entered that phase where she doesn't want to do anything anyone asks of her. I read a lot of advice on the subject and "use a timer" or "beat the clock" seemed to be a recurring theme. I wondered if it could really be that simple... Well, for us, it pretty much is. She hates nap time, so we have a small routine before hand: pick up toys, snack, and then nap. I set the timer for nap time and, if she's finished picking up toys before the timer runs out, she can have her snack. If not, snack is moved to after nap time. However, that consequence has yet to happen since we got the timer! I think it works because I'm not just setting an arbitrary limit, it takes the focus off of me or whoever else as the "bad guy", and the warning alarm is awesome since she doesn't have a grasp on the concept of time yet. We always leave the warning on 5 minutes so maybe that'll create some consistency? Violin practice was always a battle, too. She would just want to mess with the violin instead of do her technique games. We set the timer for 15 mins, 5 min warning. She knows when the warning alarm sounds, she can freestyle after that. We always want to end on her still being interested so we never go longer than that. Only thing that I wish is it could have a tooth brushing timer, but I guess it can't do everything haha. Other than that, it's awesome. She even takes it to bed after 20 mins of story time because she wants to time her chat time with my husband haha. Awesome, awesome, awesome purchase when I was just looking for a standard kitchen timer.
