Works perfectly if you know what you’re doing
This is a relatively simple cable. But, to get it to work properly, you do need to let your devices know what you’re doing by adjusting some settings. Before swapping from the standard issue composite cable that comes with the PS2 to this cable, you have a few steps to take, otherwise this cable will appear to not work. First, start your PS2 using its original composite cable. Go into System Configuration. Scroll to select Component Video Output. Change this setting from “RGB” to “Y Cb/Pr Cr/Pr.” You can now power down your PS2 and swap to this cable. Power up your PS2 again and you should be treated to a much improved picture. If you don’t follow this process, you won’t get a picture. I suspect that many of the reviews indicating failure of the cable were unaware of the need to change this setting. It is not a flaw.

Important PS2 Tip
These are great! Makes everything look better and sound better! One major thing though: Once you do get these, be sure to switch the "Componet video out" on you PS2 to "Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr.".

Don't compare to high end brands and you'll enjoy the quality improvement over RCA!
I was pretty nervous to buy these knowing how expensive major brand versions of these cables are in comparison to these coupled with the fact there's some really awful reviews on here regarding them. I'm a game streamer on Facebook who has a fairly sizable collection of PS2 games I wanted to try out. I use a RetroTink 2x 2018 model that I usually connect my older consoles to so I can utilize the 2x scaling and sometimes Filter. It works pretty good as is using RCA cables connected from my NES, SNES, or older generation consoles, but whoa... the PS2 looked all fuzzy with a pretty white overcast image. Not something I wanted to have as a representation of my brand, nor something I felt was appropriate to ask my viewers to watch. HDRetrovision cables are definitely the creme de la creme when it comes to cables like this, but prices are.... well they aren't what I want to pay right this very moment as I test out PS2 for my stream. These cables appeared low cost and shipped fast which just worked. They came in a package as you've seen others post on reviews here. Everything looked really decent actually. The cables for each RCA plug ARE somewhat thin, but they don't necessarily feel cheap. They feel decent, which is what I expected at this price point. The connector for the PS2 felt really solid and fit well. As others have said you need to change the PS2 video output for these cables to work. The easiest way in my opinion is to leave your RCA cables plugged in, turn on the system without a game inserted, get into the settings, and change video from RCA to YPbPr (which is component). The screen will obviously get all weird, or it will just go black and white. At that point change out the cables and switch your TV input. Bam! Component video. So quality... that seems to be a big issue with some. I believe a few of the complaints are people possibly not understanding to change input to YPbPr. Some are more upper level enthusiasts who, for some reason, are expecting sub $10 cables to be right up there with HDRetrovision cables. Don't expect thick bulky cables with tons of shielding and high end connectors for this price people! That's unrealistic. Instead, expect some decent quality cables that work pretty good and offer a FAR superior picture to RCA cables on modern TVs. The clarity WILL be a massive improvement as will the colors and color separation. It looks fantastic with the RetroTink at 2x and Fil on a modern TV. I have not done a color comparison between the HD cables and these, but from what I've seen on other posts I would say it's fair to see some differences in color shades and the whites with these cables are unlikely to be as perfectly white as the HD cables output.... but don't let that deter you. If you want a step up from RCA, but aren't so much of a perfectionist as to need heavy cable shielding and perfect color balance then try these out. They are about 1/4 of the price or less than boutique brands and will be a major improvement visually from RCA cables.

A must buy, dont be fooled by the low price it actually works!!!
I was unsure if this product would work on my hd tv because of the low price, but dont let that fool you. I use to use composite cables for my PS2 and the only experience I got from it was fuzzy blurry gameplay and text, composite cables are only good for old tvs. Components cables is the way to go if you have hd tv, the gameplay looks 100x better and once you use component you wont go back to composite. This is a must buy for any PS2 gamers, I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Just make a few adjustments at the PS2 menu and you should be fine.

For PS2/3 on HD TV, you'll love this cable.
Works great in PS2 Slim. The picture is sharp, clear and accurate, not the soft picture you get with the the composite cable. The cable seems very durable, plugs in firmly and not loose in any way. The cables are very flexible which is extra handy for routing it behind the tv, receiver, etc. For the best picture from PS on HD TVs, this cable is a must have.

GREAT SUBSTITUTE FOR HDMI, if you have component on the backside of your tv.
GREAT PRODUCT FOR PS2-all models (PS2 90001CB, PS2 77001SS, PS2 FAT 39001N--aka no PS2 limits), when the tv is a so-called Smart TV with component on the backside (Vizio 29", component, S-video, usb, 2 hdmi). And it was checked against a 1080p DVD--and almost everyone has seen AVATAR, which came with good color definition across the board. It makes everything look almost like hdmi, and that isn't much of a stretch.

Great Component Cable That Does What's Advertised
The cable works great thus far and does exactly what it's supposed to. With the default composite cables on my Samsung 1080p 32" TV, it caused horrible interlacing issues that made it look extremely blurry and difficult to see. These component cables fix that problem and the PS2 looks much more clear (I am using a silver PS2 Slim with these cables). NOTE: I had to change the output in the PS2 settings to Y/Pb/Pr with the RCA jacks hooked up first before I could use the component cables.

This is nice.
One major thing I need to write is before you use this component wire set is that you need to switch your system video out settings from composite (RGB) to component (Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr) while using composite cables. Otherwise your PS2 won't recognize the wires and will not send out the proper signal. This is nothing wrong with the component cables, it's just how the PS2 (no matter what model) was made. The cables themselves are well made (they don't feel or look cheaply made to me) and the image quality is pretty good (granted, PS2 can only go up to 480i and on my widescreen tv, it doesn't fill up the entire screen. But I am getting a clearer picture.) So these cables are getting a high grade from me due to how good they are. Good work on making them guys.

For those with issues getting the screen to show up...
Tried it on two TVs and it didn't work. Turns out you have to plug your PS2 in and change a setting on the home screen first. Change from RGB to Yrblahblah. For the buzzing sound, you have to disable SRS on your TV settings. To get full picture, change TV settings. Cables are fine, PS2 just doesn't automatically adjust settings when you plug in.

Works great with Playstation 2 and a new TV.
I purchased this to replace my old PS2 RCA component cable. This works great with my plasma tv and gives the display much higher resolution and clarity. My old adapter would drop out and crack and pop in the audio and I was afraid this type of thing was not available. Hopefully, now, we can get another 10 years out of our PS2!
