Best Portable Coffee Maker

Better than sliced bread! This is a must have item!!!
I am not a coffee drinker, but #@%# this was probably one of the best purchases I have made recently related to camping items. I bought this for my wife who must have coffee daily. Simple setup, works quickly, great for brewing up the small pot of coffee. I should have bought this sooner. This will be used for picnics, tailgating, camping, sitting on our deck. Also, it doesn't hurt to have an item that no one in the campground has seen before.... Very nice, this might even beat sliced bread for how great it is. Watch the water, you will need to fill it multiple times to get your full pot of coffee, but that isn't so bad. A few additional comments. It recommends using the 6-8 cup coffee filters, i would try to find something smaller if you can, they seem a little big for the coffee maker. Guys at Coleman... If you are reading this ... Please work on a Turkish Coffee Maker Next, we are ready to stand in line to get one from you. Overall EXCELLENT product. Buy yours today!!

Don't go camping without it
Much better than the previous camping Coleman coffee maker we had. We had the one that sits on top of the grill previously which was a constant battle not to melt the plastic filter holder flame high or low.. No worries with this one. Turn on the propane, hit the button, 20 minutes later amazing coffee.Brews much faster than the grill top. The unit itself gets a little hot so don't sit your marshmallows next to it.Well worth the investment. Don't go camping without it. The only con was the glass carafe it came with, but I guess that so they can get you to buy the metal one... which I did. Love it!

Perfect coffeemaker for camping
My husband is very happy using this coffeemaker while camping--very easy to clean, use, and produced the coffee he wanted. Easy to transport in the extra-to-purchase carrying case, and the propane tank was easy to attach. The push-button ignition made "lighting" it super easy--so no matches--and you only have to press the button once. Be sure to buy the stainless steel coffee pot--another extra purchase, I know--so that you don't have to worry about broken glass if you accidently drop it.

If you need well made coffee, buy this.
So far, I'm liking it tremendously. I put it to the test last weekend on the back patio - just to run some water through it as they suggest for the first run, then some actual coffee. The gas connection on the back goes together nicely. One click of the starter button and you're on your way to caffeinating yourself as usual. I have read other reviews that say you can't put a full 10 cups of water in it (the actual pot size) as the reservoir won't hold it. This is true, but since you'll be camping, and most likely you'll have the time, pour in a little more water after its started if you feel you need it. Or don't. After all it's coffee and it reads about 1.5 cups low on the pot when it finishes which isn't much! No big deal. It does take a little more time than the old home coffee maker does but who cares? It does the job in fine style and the coffee tastes just like it does at home, but smells a heck of a lot better since its made outdoors! I recommend you get this coffee maker for two reasons: It makes coffee like it should, and its really well made.

Great buy for any coffee lover
Have taken this camping a few times now and it has worked great so far. If you are in windy conditions you may want to setup some sort of wind block or the flame will not get the the system hot enough to brew coffee. This is a very quick fix by setting up some sort of wind blocker. I used an empty 36 pack cardboard box and it worked like a champ. Don't let that deter you in any way. If you love/need coffee like me and my wife do, then this is a must have. No more coffee grounds in your cup. Just Great coffee in about 10-15 minutes. Just like home but at your camp site. We have the glass carafe that came with the setup but are going to get the steel one soon just in case there is an accident with the other. Highlly recommend this item.

Great Coffee Maker - Allows Me to Set Up the Rest of Breakfast while the Coffee Brews!!!!
Just brewed my first two pots of coffee with this wonderful coffee maker!! I love this thing and I'm so happy I bought it. My nickname on all camping trips is "The Breakfast Guy" and it is something I Love to do for my friends. I bought this coffee maker for several reasons: 1) I wanted to free up a burner normally devoted to making boiling water - you can never have enough burners 2) Loved the idea of being able to get the coffee going while I'm setting up for the rest of breakfast. Imagine standing over a Melitta filter waiting for the hot water to go through the coffee grounds drip by drip, while you still have the rest of the breakfast to prepare? Fill the coffee grounds, pour in the water, turn on the burner and come back in 15 minutes!!! The people complaining about it taking too long are coffee addicts - I'm not sitting by the coffee maker waiting for that first cup - I've got things to do!!! Also I did try the first cup feature and it works as expected. Like all of my home coffee makers, I may remove all of those parts. It's just something else that can go wrong when you're not looking. Again, I'm not waiting for that first cup to become functional!! Truth is, when you use the first cup feature, it's a REALLY REALLY strong cup of coffee. I like the coffee from a full pot - the flavor needs to be averaged from when the grounds first get wet to when they are drenched - the first cup is just too strong!! I would not use the burner to keep the coffee warm, although you can. It's a waste of precious propane. My coffee usually goes straight into a big Thermos 51 Ounce Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel Carafe - I serve a big group and a 10 cup pot won't cut it. What I'm planning to do is pour the boiled water that I use to preheat the Thermos carafe (recommended to extend the hot coffee time), into the coffee maker for the 2nd pot. That should speed up the brew time!! Also be warned, this coffee maker is carefully crafted sheet metal surrounding a 4500 BTU propane burner. EVERYTHING under the coffee pot (front and back) is extremely HOT!!!! Have a great cup of coffee in the great outdoors!!

Awesome coffee pot for camping, get the steel carafe and the bag, though.
I picked this up to use at summer camp with my scout troop. We were doing a primitive setup out in the woods instead of going to a regular scout camp. Many of us drink coffee in the morning, and my normal aluminum french press only takes care of one of us... So... I used this all week on 1 small tank of propane. It kept all of us in good coffee for the week. I also have used it on every outing since. Still rock solid. The only negative is that the grey powder coat near the burner area is blackened, burned, and flaking off after one week and 2 weekends of use. Not too bad, though. I would recommend getting the stainless steel carafe and ditching the glass one, though. Glass and camping in the woods don't really go together...

Replaced my still working camp stove coffee pot
Years back I had previously purchased the Coleman Stove top coffee pot and while I enjoyed it thoroughly, every morning was a constant battle in my own head. Do I make the wife happy and make breakfast first? Or, do I make myself happy and make my coffee first? Neither of us are the pleasant type when deprived of what we enjoy, so, I broke down and bought this one when I had enough $ saved to do so. I absolutely love the coffee pot. There's nothing about it that I dislike, well, one thing, but I will get to that in a minute. It makes coffee equally as fast as the stove top variety, if not quicker, and it solved my food or coffee first predicament. Coffee pot lights with one click every time and puts out consistently tasting coffee. Here's my knock on it; No, not the fact that it gets discolored from heat, everything gets discolored from heat. My number one gripe; COLEMAN, Listen up here, MAKE AND OR INCLUDE A COFFEE FILTER BASKET THAT FITS THIS!!! I don't know about everyone else but I live in a humid climate and keep coffee filters closed up in a dedicated camping storage bin and my filters always go flat due to the moisture they collect. I got around this issue by finding an el cheapo re-usable coffee filter basket that fit into this coffee maker. I first tried the Gold Tone brand but the height was too high to fit. I finally found a cheap one hanging up at a grocery store for like 3.00 and I am now the happiest person in the world to no longer have to worry about filters not filtering correctly, or, if I have them or not in the first place. I now leave it in the coffee maker so now it's always together. Something to consider if you're a frequent camper that may want to look for a basket. Just make sure if you get one, save your receipt and or order multiples as they vary slightly in size from brand to brand. Just buy this darn thing, it makes everyone else jealous!

Terrific for blind, pit or camping
Love it! My scout leaders have been using camp stoves, propane the usual means for morning coffee sharing heat with scouts and ending u with burned or grounds in the coffee. This works quickly with little propane use and makes terrific coffee. My only complaint is the little bracket to hold the propane bottle connector for storing is worthless. It is at such an odd angle it just pops off. AND if this is a camping outdoor item just skip the glass carafe and include the metal one. I will carry this to those cold goose pits for coffee for me and cocoa for the young'uns.
