A great red or green dot socpe
I bought this because of its ability to use either the red or the green light features. Their are several illumination levels for brightness for both the green (my preferred color) and the red dot. The two different mounting systems that came with the unit are great. I love how fast I can put on the sight to a picatinny rail on my gun and remove it using the provided cantilever lever, which makes installing the sight and removing it a matter of one second, that fast. And, as long as I place the sight back in the same slot on my rail, the scope holds zero fine.

It works well in ALL lighting conditions and is good for me out to about 75 yards
Would I buy another one? I did! I bought one of these a couple years ago for my AK47 because of its low price and low mounting capability. It has worked so well for me that I bought another one for my AR15. The versatile mounting base allows a low mount on my AK and higher mount for a 1/3rd co-whitness on my AR. Absolutely holds zero after hundreds of rounds. The 1620 battery has a bit of a short life and is difficult to find, but I found that the easier to find 1632 fits in there and gives a longer life span. BONUS! It works well in ALL lighting conditions and is good for me out to about 75 yards. Perfect for CQB applications. One note about people complaining about the dot being a hashmark and not a perfect dot... I found that I get a hashmark when I have my glasses off and a dot with them on. I have astigmatism. The ones that complain of it being a star shape have it turned up too bright for given lighting conditions. YMMV

Well worth the money, and here is why...
OK, lets be honest. There are some fantastic red dot, and incredible holographic sights out there, that are easily 8 to 10 time the price of this sight. If I had the money to drop $500 each on a bunch of each type, I would. If you are into this stuff, it is very easy to rationalize that you need the real stuff used by the military (G*d Bless them!) And in addition, besides wanting the real high priced equipment because it is the real deal, it is very easy to sell yourself on the need for the best, because it could come down to a life & death situation. Well, as the low-priced alternatives get better, it is really hard to ignore them. I have owned this sight for about 5 years, and got another about 2 years ago. The only complaint I have was user error. I forgot to shut it off, and the battery died. I could be petty and say it should have an auto-off, to save the battery, but then it would probably be more expensive. I cannot blame the unit for my error. Since many of us don't have the budget of the military, if you can afford them great, a top red dot, and/or a great holographic sight, then do it. But you can proceed with this item and know that you will have a reliable, functional sight, at an incredible price. It is almost too good to be true, but to classify these as cheap knock-offs is just really unfair. I also highly recommend the Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 Red Dot Sight Riflescope, 1 x 25mm (tilted front lens) which is another incredibly priced alternative to the big boys. You cannot go wrong with either, or both of these!

Works on my AK-47
A bit bulky but I don't care cause its on AK, hold the zero good, I ran almost 700 rounds heavy grain and military ammo still holding well. shoot small target in 100 yard with 1st or 2nd round. On shoot and see, grouping is good on AK. I did put it on AR and kinda looks funny, too big. ************* UPDATE: 09/14/15 As of today I can say I ran over 2000 rounds and still holding zero pretty good, still looks great and so far I changed the battery once. I am planing to buy the magnify scope for it too, I will update once I have that and run few hundred rounds. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S2FWRGK?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_2&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Very impressed
Okay I don't care about this being cheap or not I would pay twice what they are asking for it. I built an AR for my friends father and I don't put dots or scopes on builds because I think that is the most intimate part of the gun and should be something decided upon over time by the owner. But he insisted, and asked me to sight it for him. I gave in. So I figured this would be a good enough CHEAP starting point for him to get his feet wet and find out what he likes to eventually move to a higher end optic. Essentially this was disposable. Not the case by the way. Okay on to the dot review. I see a lot of complaints about dot size or strength on here. First learn how to shoot. I think people are under the impression that like in call of duty you can slap together a gun an it just works, you pick it, up and the gun does all the work. It takes time and skill to be proficient with any gun. Learn to shoot with Iron sights then with a 4x or higher scope. Then get a red dot. How you use the focus of your eyes is everything. With improper focus this dot can look huge. With proper focus this sights dot goes down to the size of a pin head and is right on the money. When it comes to reviews of optics especially cheap ones you are most likely going to get new shooters, people that might not know exactly what they are doing because they are just starting out. There is nothing wrong with that, but I am just saying know you audience. I was very impressed with this sight and cannot believe the quality. It was bright enough in the sun for me to pick up the dot and get it on target. It feels solid and rugged. If you want a good starting point you can't go wrong with this under $50 sight.

Holding its Zero
I purchased this Red Dot with the 3x magnifier, I won't bother you with all the technical details since many reviewers had done so. I'm very happy with the results, the red dot has been zero to 50 yards and I was able to get a very respectable groups from that distance. The best way for the dot to work on my case was to use the lowest setting since using the larger one would cover the target. I used both colors and they work great during daytime, I went shooting in the morning. The set up is mounted in a Saiga, 7.62x39, the recoil did not affect the accuracy or the loss of zero also with the help of the 3x magnifier was extremely helpful to get a better view. I will continue using it and I will give an update about its performance. UPDATE: I'm very satisfied with its performance, the zero is great. Only problem I found so far was the screws that hold the red dot with the picatinny rail became lose after 300 rounds. I used blue loctite for all the screws to give them extra strength. I will give updates in how it is working for me.

Well Worth The Price
First, mine does not look exactly like the one pictured here. The one pictured here has like a hood on it. Mine came with a already-installed flip-up lens cap on each end. As personal taste goes the one with the hood looks cooler but I like mine with the lens cap. I don't have to worry about dust, and don't have to worry about shopping for a lens cap later. Second, the choice of green or red dot is really cool! ALSO, least I forget, mine came with a lever lock on the side which, in my opinion, makes it easier to put on than, say, one more fitted that you have to slide on straight because the fit is tight is (rightly so) tight. But the lever lets you put it on in the middle of the rail if you want. And clamps right on. Seems firm when I tried to shake it with my hand. But, third, I haven't yet field tested it to see if it stays put when firing. I have it on a Mossberg International 715P. Am waiting for my buddy to come back so he can take me out to his shooting place. Oh, and another thing is well worth the price!

Second one - both doing incredibly well for their price point
This is my second UTG red-dot sight. I got the little brother to this one last time and paired it up with my Bushmaster for coyote duty. After initial sight-in (I used a laser bore-sight to get it close before firing the first round), I played around with the fine-tuning for about 10 rounds before I was satisfied that it was where I wanted it. Adjustments are fairly simple, nothing complicated, and the varying dot intensities and colors makes it easier to pick up the point in changing conditions. I set it for zero @ 100y with 55gr rounds, and my best bench group was 1.1" (and no, it was not the gun - when fitted with a magnifying scope, she has shot a .71" group at 100 with 62gr M855). Considering this is a 4 MOA scope with the role of fast-acquire sighting inside about 150 yards, this is more than good enough. In fact, I would have the three coyotes testify about how good it does its job, but they are all dead. Two were one-shot instant drops, the second one I rushed the squeeze and had to put a second one in them after it made it about ten yards. Closest one was inside 20 yards, the farthest one was over 140 yards. The dot was clear and easily picked up at all ranges, and the scope has held its zero through multiple handling and shooting cycles. Is it perfect or even as good as, say, and EOTech or AimPoint? No, not really. It is big for its size and heavy for its size compared to the others. The dot is more of a back-slash shape at lower power, and never makes an actual 'dot'. Bullet impact is toward the upper left tip of the 'slash', but is is consistent and steady, so a round 'dot' is irrelevant. The rail mounting configuration is not ideal, but it is also not the worst I have seen. Battery life is high-average to low-good in my experience. My first scope from them (the little brother to this one) has given me (so far!) over 12 hours of use. This one seems to be in the same groove, but I have not had it long enough to find out for sure. On a related note, I tend to use my scopes at medium to low intensity settings, usually green. I find it works better for me, for whatever reason, in quick acquisition of the target. I also make a point to turn the scope off and confirm it is fully switched off when I am done using it. YMMV. Considering the price point and what you get, this is a great deal. It isn't perfect, but the issues it does have are either not unique to this scope or are minor enough to ignore when factoring in price.

Great for AK's
Great for AK's, AR's and PTR's .... Yes I have several Eotechs, but these are good units ... at a fraction of the cost ... Let's be honest ... I am not jumping at 10k plus feet from a plane, nor am I scuba diving from a sub to shore... They work really well ... they get the job done..!!!... plus you can get the UTG 3X Magnifier with Flip-to-side QD Mount, W/E Adjustable for $58.. GOOD TO GO for at lease 300 to 400 meters..More then enough for any red dot and or Holographic Weapon Sights system.

Quick ship, great so far, 300 rounds.
A great little red dot. 120 rounds of 223 before I swapped it to a 9mm carbine. I'm glad I did, it is PERFECT for the hipoint (or even my 336, had I thought of it). And my AR now has a 9x adjustable BUGBUSTER scope for the 100 and 200 yd targets that my eyes can't see. About 200 rounds of 9mm, but they were all for fun. After the ar adjustments, and the platform switch, my first "sighting in" shot from the 9mil was .5" high at 25yds. On the DOT, son! Once I had my fun with it, I was asked to share! They all loved the combo accuracy, so this review is a SIX-FER! Recommended.
