I have to take one star off, because I'm tired of "1200 mg" advertised on the bottle without telling us we have to take 2 to get that amount. BUT, these are the easiest I've found to swallow, so that's why I'll keep getting them unless I find something smaller. These are ridiculous to take in bigger pills/logs. *edit: it appears that they cleared up the issue with the labels/directions. It wasn't available for a while, but is back with the corrections, and I'm happy about that. I have osteopenia and my density test comes back fine with 1200 mg a day of calcium + 1000 ui vitamin D. Wish they were calcium citrate, but they'll do, because they're the only one that has this dose in smaller servings. + easy to swallow. Changed to 5 stars.

I have been taking Calcium pills for over twenty years now, I have seen everything, from the days of horse-sized pills, with no Vitamin D ( D is sort of necessary, since your body will not process the Calcium without it.), to the various heated arguments about just what the precise and correct type of Calcium was that one should take, down to the ultimate battle of just what the precise correct dosage was - I have been there, I bear the battle scars proudly upon my body. One day, I was reading something online, and an ad popped-up, normally I ignore ads, but something about this caught my eye. Yes, it was yet another type of calcium, yoo-hoo! But something was different about this Citracal 1200 Slow-Release. As I read, I became more and more excited, I called my PCP to check on the verity of the claims made but Citracal .......it was true....the days, months, years, and decades of choking down a pill fit only for a mule, and at that - four times a day.... They were over, I was released from my bondage to the evil giant monster Calcium pills. These Citracal tablets are time-released, contain the appropriate amount of Vitamin D, , and......heavens to murgatroyd - one takes only two per day, at one time in the morning. Well, needless to say, my world has changed, little birds circle my head, twittering a merry tune as I stride purposefully down the street. My Bone Density Scans come back so perfect that my gynecologist dances in glee, and mentions the term "steel girders", as he frolics around my scans. These pills are not tiny, but they are so much better than anything that came before. I take them on an empty stomach in the morning, with no issues. Although, some have mentioned that they experience slight distress when taking these on an empty stomach, I never have. If one does, take the pills with food. I now have these on my Subscribe and Save list, and receive a few bottles every month or so. If you want to be strong and tall, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, I recommend these tablets. Should you just wish to be able to walk straight and tall down the street, no bounding, these will also take care of you. Why oh why did it take so long for single dose, time-release Calcium to reach our shores? I recommend these most highly. Women Unite - Take Calcium and Stay Strong and Tall Throught Your Given Days!

Love this calcium supplement. Since my thyroid removal surgery I have had a problem with the amount of calcium my body will absorb. This higher dose seems to absorb much better for me, eliminating the need for taking one or two of the 500s several times a day. My lab counts on my calcium have definitely improved, they are finally back to normal.

First time I heard about it was on a Paul Harvey radio show. I used to working in nursing homes and many doctors and nurses recommended it. Now with OA myself and start everyday with it. Don't settle for anything else, my bone density tests show improvement after six months.

This product does not upset our stomachs. It only needs to be taken once per day, which is s real advsntage considering that we have been taking so many supplements every day. My doctor advised me to take 1500 mg Ca and 800 IU vitamin D per day, which was increased due to my last dexascan showing bone loss. In retrospect, I was confused and for years have not been paying attention to the serving sizes! My lab work has always shown plenty of Ca but now the PCP has prescribed generic Fossmax also. When talking with the PCP about taking Ca, I was told that “any brand is fine, just take it all at once, once per day...just swallow it down.” (Rather slip-shod advice)

As far as I know, this works great. I love that it is slow release, and that you don't have to take it with food. Wish it was a little smaller or one tablet instead of two per day, but not a big problem to swallow

This Citracal Slow Release 1200 was recommended by a few doctors as I tend to constantly have a vitamin D3 deficiency (as many other people do) as well as low calcium, due to a chronic condition. Deficiencies in these caused me a lot of muscle cramps, pain, patchy skin, forgetfulness. Now that I'm taking the Citracal and my levels are doing better on my blood tests, a lot of the symptoms have been lessened substantially. Definitely consider this brand (slow release in high mg is important!) if you are needing the calcium and Vitamin D3.

I’ve been taking 2 of these things twice per day for about a year due to a permanent complication from thyroid surgery and along with a few RXs, they’re what keeps me from all the unpleasantness of low calcium. The extended release and extra D3 for absorption gives me the confidence that I’ll be fine until the next dosage. They might seem like horse pills to the average person, but when these things are what stand between me and the ER, I’ll take them with a smile. They’re smooth enough going down and it helps to have something in your stomach for them to land on. I take them within an hour of eating breakfast and no less than 2 hours after dinner. If you have low calcium issues, I can’t recommend these enough. I’d order them in pallets if I could.

work well and my bone density test was in the normal range after being VERY LOW!

Great product. I had multiple fractures of my vertebrae’s last year and was in excruciating pain. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis.I started taking these pills 3 months ago, now my pain is gone and my vertebrae’s have healed.Highly recommend.
