I received the cartridge exactly the way it was described multiple times in the item description, without box or mounting hardware. The cartridge itself was well protected with the stylus guard and makeshift shipping package. This inexpensive cartridge has the ability to extract enjoyable music from my well worn and noisy thrift store finds and is definitely well worth the $30 paid.

I received a vinyl copy of the Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road albums as a gift, knowing my unending and unwavering love of almost everything Beatles. And, an added gift of the Beatles Christmas record/cards. I had purchased the Audio-Technica AT-LP3WH Fully Automatic Belt-Drive Stereo Turntable, White and was using it but decided to try to get a better cartridge. Not that the at91r wasn't good, but I read that the response and the tracking was better on this cartridge. Also, this cartridge seems to be one of the higher rated ones with some stores selling it for almost twice as much as Amazon. The exchange was easy. It was simple to remove the mounting head, just unscrewed. The hardest part was taking the four wires that slipped onto the metal prongs off of the original mount. I used a small screwdriver and a small plier to pry the crimped wire fastener from the attachment point. Then, the new cartridge crimped wire fasteners just slid onto the attachment areas without a problem. Once in place, two small screws to hold the cartridge to the mounting head and then screw the head onto the tone arm. I readjusted the counter weight and anti skating. Having read the reviews, I set them to 2 grams, the recommendation of the manufacturer and the reviewers on this site. It took about 20 minutes to do and the most time wasted as I was checking the installation to determine where to position the cartridge with respect to the front/back opening on the mounting head. Is it better? I noticed that to my ears, the sound does appear fuller. Also, the previous cartridge had a slight problem with the anti skating and I had to lower it to prevent issues. This one track without an issue. So, easy exchange, better tracking, fuller sound response. I'm happy

-- For the money spent how could one ask for more sound and value from a cartridge-? Not many products in this day and age offer this much value and satisfaction for the money spent. The 95e has to be one of the top sub-$50 cartridges out there, but that opinion will vary according to the taste of different listeners - not everyone has the same ear. I settled on the 95e for a project - a crippled H.K.T40 turntable I was resurrecting from the dead, and it has delivered all the sound I could ask for at this price point. I looked at other options, but having had such good luck with my now old AT2113E from the early 80's I decided after reading many reviews the 95e was more than a safe bet on my shrinking budget to get the old HK going again. A 120 is my goal, but until then this has great overall balance of sound and can be upgraded to a higher end stylus when the time comes as I understand. I am totally satisfied with the 95e's sound and value, hard to go wrong with this one, Audio Technica is from japan and they have always made good quality cartridges -- if you feel the need wade through reviews and see if you can split hairs on which cart. sounds this or that way, but this is a no brainer at this price - of course in the end im only speaking for myself - though the mass of positive reviews on this cartridge speak for themselves and are consistently very good.

Killer!! Sounds awesome. i bought my AT LP-120 from a friend. He had installed the Shure M97XE audiophile cartridge. This one sounds just about as good. If anything it might be a tiny bit thinner on the mid-range, but for all intents and purposes, you can't tell much difference. Obviously, this is much cheaper than the M97XE, so that alone makes it a better buy IMO. The only drawback is getting the tiny nuts on the end of the screws when installing it. It's not super easy to do. Also, the recommended weight on these is 2grams. I found that with the platter all the way down to the lowest height, this can cause some scraping or dragging sounds during silence between tracks, etc. I adjusted the height to be at 0.5mm and the eight at 1.7grams. Sounds perfect on some old 80's vinyl as well as a new 180 gram deluxe vinyl record.

Wanted a little higher upgrade to my phonograph cartridge that came with Audio Technica AT-LP3 turntable and decided to get the AT95 cartridge. It was a little tricky removing the old cartridge from my turntable and adding this one. But if you follow the instructions, it worked out pretty well. I am very pleased with it and notice a slightly better crisper, cleaner sound from my records and for the price you can't beat it. I wish I would have gotten a new headshell too, since the one that came with my turntable is red. So I have a red headshell and a green color cartridge stylus. At first it bothered me but now I like it! It reminds me of Christmas! It's a great phono cartridge for the price and works great! Time to buy some new records to listen to!

Everything good. Sound excellent, (I am not an audiophile but very particular), easy install, I measured in stead of buying the offset jig, this went into a Technics SL-D202 all stock and stock Technics headshell, easy install, need fine tooling (small std screwdriver- very fie needle nosed pliers), sound is great, makes me feel like I AM an Audiophile (though I certainly am not). Old school guys (like me) you may need a phono amp if running thru mod. setup, look it up. I forgot that the phono's (all) have a VERY low output, need to be amped. Interesting catching up to the hipsters re-discovering our old school stuff. (old receivers typically had a pre-amp built in) This one piece resurrected a table that had been sitting for about 20 years, quite a small thrill. Loving vinyl again!

This cartridge breathed new life into my vinyl but there are some caveats for install.Take your time with the instructions and dont lose the screw kit that comes with it.Make sure you back off on the weight of the tone arm as I assumed the tracking weight was the same and my tonearm counterweight was set too heavy. Once I backed off on the tone arm weight the sound was no longer gritty and you could see the difference in the height of the cartridge. Read or google your turntables instructions especially if this is your first rodeo or its been awhile. You may wish to invest in a tone arm scale or just walk the weight forward from light to more heavy while listening for grit and taking into account sensitivity to bumping/vibration. I also recommend not losing the cover for the need and putting back in place after every use-especially if small children are about(locate the turntable HIGH off the ground in that case). Sansui belt drive turntable from the late Vietnam era brought in an Army PX.

I got this as a replacement for my old JVC table (from the 80s). I wouldn't say set-up was "dead simple", as this was the first time I'd ever replaced a cartridge. I had been expecting it to be a 10-minute operation, and then I would be kicking back with a beer and a Clash record. I was wrong! Doing this, and most things, with a turntable is a very delicate procedure, and takes time and patience and a very small screwdriver. Alignment is something you have to be familiar with. I wasn't. I had no idea I would have to align the cartridge, I'm embarrassed to say. I installed it, put on a record and was appalled at how awful it sounded... the audio from the left channel sounded like it was going through a distortion pedal. Luckily, there are some simple protractors online to get the cartridge aligned. While doing this, I discovered that my tonearm's counterweight was installed backwards (can't believe I had never noticed that before). It's a miracle I had been enjoying the table for nearly three years. Once I got that fixed, balanced the arm and aligned the cartridge, I was completely satisfied with how it sounded. The price is right on this one, and it sounds awesome.

Look no further unless you think that spending a lot more money makes you a better audiophile. Do a little research and you'll find this is a well-reviewed cartridge and standard on many very expensive turntables. This is more than enough for all but the highest end systems and even then most would be hard-pressed to tell the difference.

Great deal. If you already have the two mounting screws, don't spend over twice as much for the retail packaging. Great sounding needle for the money. Properly mounted, I think you have to spend 10 times as much to see any improvement on sound. That's my opinion spending as much on a few different options. Just get one!
