  • UNIVERSAL FIT. This rooftop cargo carrier securely attaches to most roof rack rails, using simple, universal brackets. The roof basket comes in two pieces and assembles quickly with the included hardware.
  • DURABLE BUILD. This roof rack basket is constructed from tubular steel to promote high strength and a lightweight design. It is also finished with an E-coat and carbide black powder coat for long-lasting corrosion resistance.
  • EXPANDABLE. Great as a car roof rack, this cargo carrier is expandable. With the separate extension piece CURT #18117, the usable square footage goes from 11 sq. ft. to nearly 17 sq. ft.

Short review but after couple months after I purchased the rack and still great, raining and sunny days and no rust I installed in my Toyota highlander looks nice and fit fine check my pictures also when I installed the bolts in the rack holes I add some silicone past to avoid water going inside the tube works great.

We bought this roof rack (with the extension) for our 2017 Honda Pilot (along with the Cargo bag that Curt makes to fit perfectly inside). It was easy to install, although I will admit the brackets that connect to our roof cross bars did not sit perfectly on the bars (see photo). But it still worked great and didn't budge once we had it screwed in place. The screws are very long and we were worried they might dig into the carrier bag we bought separately and cause it to rip, so we bought little plastic caps to cover the screws (or you could cut them shorter with the right tool). The rack was not too heavy, so the two of us were able to lift onto the roof and install it. We drove 800 miles with this rack and cargo bag on our roof, through a small rainstorm, and pretty heavy wind, and it never moved and everything stayed dry. Having this rack on the roof did create some wind noise, but it was very slight. We are super happy with this product. We originally bought one of the hard plastic pods for the roof, but returned it and bought the rack and carrier bag instead. We're really glad we did. This worked out much better for us. We didn't have the bulky pod on the roof once we arrived at our destination, and it'll be much easier to store when we're not using it. By the way, buying it through Amazon.com was cheaper than buying it directly from the manufacturer (Curt).

This went on to a 2000 jeep Cherokee really well. The rack itself was very easy to put together. Once it was mounted it's super solid. The worst part was screwing the rack to the top of the vehicle. The u bolts/screws are way long and may need to be cut down.

Put this on my '05 Honda CRV prior to a recent road trip so we could take the dog's 48" tall folding ex-pen with us. We have knock-off 'aero' bars and it fit fine. Didn't quite line up perfectly with the added extension, it was maybe an inch too short total, but still clamped down without a problem. We will probably take it back off and paint it (based on other reviews) for long term mounting. It survived the 1400 mile road trip without budging- I was very pleased. Not too much added road noise, either. Also ordered the '[Upgrade] Bungee Cargo Net EZYKOO' for the return trip since my hardside suitcase slid around on the way up; this was a huge improvement over plain ratchet-type straps.

I assembled and installed this on my own, in the dark, with the extension. It has not lowered my mpg at all, even with my spare tire on it. It seems sturdier than the roof crossbars themselves. The tubing is able to withstand me ratcheting my spare tire onto it, with no bending. It also looks bad ass and doesnt interfere with my sunroof at all. I may put some wood supports between the roof rails and under the crossbars, so i can put more weight on it. Update, the rails bent a little bit from the spare tire being on tightened onto it. My mileage has only gone down by 1.5mpg, though, and it can withstand 90mph for an hour straight just fine(didnt even budge). Downside for other people who would want to tie something like a tire onto the basket is the bolts stick pretty far up. I had to center the tire, rather than secure it in a corner, because Id end up poking a hole in it.

The basket is sturdy. The quality seems high. Get someone to help. An extra set of hands will be...handy. I am very mechanically capable but having someone help just made it a more enjoyable and pleasant experience. Be sure you are lined up hole wise, or the screws will strip. Add silicone to the joints and the screws to avoid rust issues. Wind noise is there, but negligible.

My rack came in damaged. It appeared to have been an open box deal as the box appeared retaped and some of the items were opened and rattling around inside. The box was damaged and two mounting pieces were broken. Don't get me wrong, I love open box deals and I almost always go for the Warehouse deals. What I was upset with was the fact that I paid full price for a damaged product. I called Amazon CS and they offered me a replacement. Like I said, I like open box deals and shipping this thing back would have been a nightmare due to the damaged box. When I explained that, they offered a partial refund instead which I was more than happy with. Now, the product itself. The rack seems solid and well made. The fairings aren't plastic like I thought and they actually seem pretty well designed. The brackets that hold the fairing on the other hand... I am going to need to replace two of them... Snappy plastic that likes to break on installation. The size is good, perfect for my needs. I still have room on the top of my Outback to mount my radio antenna. Installation was relatively easy, instructions pretty straightforward. It would have between easier with two people. I.am going to replace the wing nuts that secure the basket to the roof with standard nuts. The wing nuts are exhausting to use on my roof as they require a ton of effort to use on thinner bars. I also plan on sealing the joints and replacing bolts with steel ones to minimize future rust. On of the other top reviews details how to do this, so I won't repeat it here. One of the Allen nuts was improperly cast, it had no head. Easy to replace, but shoddy manufacturing. I will update this if I ever have issues in the future, otherwise you can presume it's still a 5 star! First impressions: 3 star Satisfaction with customer support: 5 star Hardware quality: 3.5 Cost for value: 5 The overall reason that this gets a 5 star is that, despite lack-luster manufacturing and cheaper parts, it still has a great value for the price. The cost of upgrading parts to make this a truly nice piece of hardware is minimal, but it will take effort. If I disliked that kind of thing it might get a 3 or 4 star, but I can't do that as, to me, it is not a 3 star item

No complaints! I took this camping with a large cooler, large tote, 2 foam mattress pads, and 3 camping chairs. Very sturdy, easy to assemble! You can flip the front panel around so you don’t have to display the name brand. I didn’t see any rusty stains after I took it off, but only kept it on for 2 weeks. For the price I thinks it’s an excellent product.

I wasn't sure if this rack deserves 5 or 4 stars but eventually thought that even though there is room for improvement, this is already a very good product and that for the price, it's a really good deal. What I like about it: * well built * not expensive * has a pretty good amount of storage space what needs to be improved: * assembly should be easier * installation should be easier * fairing part looks cheap and kind of wears out pretty quickly Overall, I have used this rack on my Sienna minivan all summer. It looks great and it is very functional. The rack itself looks like new, but the fairing looks like, well, not very new... Too bad it is not as well built as the rest of the rack. I see no need to buy more expensive racks. For camping, I pack two rugged plastic boxes and a large duffel on this rack and secure with bungee cords - it's as solid as a rock. For other trips, I've used this for camping chairs, bags and sometimes coolers (though these may be tougher to load and unload).

Very happy with the rack. Some of the screws did not fit right and there were some scratches on the rack out of the box but otherwise I’m happy. I took the advice of others and sealed the areas where water could get in. I also spray painted the rack to fix the scratches. Assembly is straight forward. The u hooks are way too big for my roof rails on both my outback and sorento. They stick up pretty high and jam into the rack bag I’m using. Didn’t have time to cut them so I put some foam packing material over it and duct taped it on to prevent punctures. I will cut them when I get some time. Took the whole rack and roof rails off together for storage as it would take less time than screwing the rack to the rails.
