Perfect birthday present for young girls!

Awesome gift for toddler!

I got this for my 3 year old daughter so that she could improve her manual dexterity. She had a blast with this and I could tell she was getting better and better at threading the beads. She made four necklaces--kept one for herself, and gave three away to her best friends. This was definitely a hit with my daughter and kept her occupied for several hours. I would probably purchase a different set of these wooden jewelry bead sets for our next plane trip since it was so effective in keeping her occupied for so long. Love love love this set! :)

This was a great quiet craft activity for my four year old niece ...

This was a great quiet craft activity for my four year old niece and two year old daughter. I know it says 4+ on the age recommendations, but my two year old definitely had the physical dexterity to string the beads. The string provided in the kits has plastic tips on each end to make it easy for them to thread the string through the beads. The smaller beads are just the right size for a curious child to put up a nostril, so it definitely isn't an unsupervised activity.

Melissa & Doug products are always above average, and these are that same quality. I bought them for my nieces, so I am not sure how much they have enjoyed them. I was really happy with the purchase, though. They are very cute.

My daughter wanted a necklace maker for Christmas. After reading many reviews a lot of the jewelry makers seemed to be low quality and not worth the trouble. I decided to go with this set so my daughter could make her own necklaces. I'm glad I did. She has made many nice necklaces and bracelets. She is three years old and can string the beads herself. The only thing she needs help with is attaching the included clasps. It requires a specific knot. The clasps included are perfect for little hands. They push together to close. Perfect for kids still learning there fine motor skills. I enjoy making jewelry with her too. I have recommended it to people and I will be purchasing it again so she can make more necklaces. I will order a different set though for variety.

Fun

I always look for fun things to do during trips and visits with my nieces. They had fun making necklaces. It was a good activity for 4-year-old girls. I agree that a lid would be helpful. If traveling or storing, I would recommend bringing baggies or something with a lid so beads don't end up everywhere! : )

Bought these for a friends daughter who is 5 and loves jewelry! She was so beyond excited when she opened the gift. It was a nice change from the cheap plastic bead sets most kids usually have. These wood beads are wonderful quality just like all the Melissa & Doug products are. We are huge fans of Melissa & Doug toys as you know whenever you purchase anything with their name you will always be getting a quality product! Have never been wrong. Gorgeous beads, the coloring is beautiful, and the kit looked like it would cost more than it did.

Nice craft gift for a 4 year old

Nice craft gift for a 4 year old...comes in a wood box, only complaint is there's no wood top to close once opened, makes keeping pieces for future use difficult.

Pretty, colorful beads

Both boys and girls in my home daycare enjoy making necklaces with these beads. We've mixed both sets together so that they can have butterflies and hearts on their necklaces. The beads are brightly colored, wooden beads. The laces are thinner than some other Melissa & Doug bead sets we have. This set is obviously for slightly older children as some of the beads are rather small and the child needs to have good motor skills. It's also not safe for younger children as they could choke on the small parts. The children in my home daycare who enjoyed playing with this were mostly 4 years old. We use these beads as fine motor/threading practice. They make their necklace, wear it for a while, and then take it apart so that somebody else can make one.

Wonderful independent jewelry making kit.

My 3 girls have loved this product. I have a 3, 4, and 9 year old. They play for long periods of time making necklaces and bracelets. You need to be careful if your child puts things in his/her mouth because it does have small pieces.
