Definitely something I think anybody cooking with cast iron would appreciate. Don't have to worry about wrapping the pan and not thinking about it being hot, this way it's not. It's also high quality so it's not super thin so the heat sinks your hand

We literally burned through two cloth hot handles before we stumbled upon this silicone one. Seriously, for basic safety/fire-hazard purposes, if you are currently using a cloth hot handle and have an electric stovetop, you need to switch to this one. We, unfortunately, didn't think about this until one caught on fire (I know, I know). We use our cast iron skillet every day with this handle, and so far after 6 months it is still good as new. It stays on securely, is easy to clean and while it takes a little maneuvering to pull off of the handle, it is not difficult to pull off. I think it is just the right amount of snug, snug enough that it stays on securely, but not so snug that you can't get it off when you need to put your skillet in the oven.

Sheer thick opaque perfection ; ) I've got bony fingers and cast iron is heavy so this makes a real difference. While I'm no slave to brand names this Lodge design is better considered in it's gentle swooping curves than any other I've seen. Also as a design snob, why would get any other color? It's doesn't match in the first place and will quickly show dirt. Once you go black...

This works great. No burnt skin left sticking to the skillet handle and you don't have to worry about getting them too close to the flames like you do if you are using a folded dish towel. I have one of these for each black "arn" skillet I own, now and I won't take fur 'em. Thanks, Lodge.

I checked out the reviews and I have to admit that it doesn't fit all handles well. I have several cast iron pans with different handles and it works on some really well, while others I have to make sure I am holding on tightly. I would recommend not having it over direct flame as noted in the reviews.

When I first got my cast iron skillet I didn't think I would use it too much nor have a need for a handle. I was wrong. Started cooking a lot more with the pan and realized that a kitchen towel is not good enough because sometimes I don't wrap it as good as I should and semi burn myself. The product is good but some quirks, fits a little loosely which I understand but if that's the case it should be a little thicker just in case. If you pick it up at a certain angle almost feels like the pointed end of the pan is jabbing direct into a corner of the sleeve and is able to get some heat through. Either way better than a towel!

For someone who cooks and eats a lot of meat, I didn't know a lot about cast iron. I used to be annoyed that you can't just pick one up and go wash it out because it's all hot. When I finally realised I needed to get a cast iron skillet, someone told me about this, and suddenly everything made sense. Now, I can just pop this on my pan, throw it in the sink, clean it with water and the little chainmail thing I also bought on Amazon, season and go.

Listen... yes there are people complaining that the holder still gets hot... it does. But this holder is the difference between grabbing a hot handle and realizing you just left 8 layers of skin cooked to your cast iron and are in need of immediate medical attention VS. thinking to yourself "Oh thats kinda hot. Do I need a pot holder? Na, I'm just moving the pan back one burner" Bottom line: I bought two and will likely buy more.

This makes my cast iron skillet much easier to use. Durability is good. One one of my handle holders, I attempted to make it shorter by cutting off an inch. Seems like that allows the cut end to begin to tear. So I don't recommend cutting this to length. Just leave it long.

If you have cookware that can go to stove top to oven this is a product that will save you hand from "forgetful" burns. Be sure that the pans you planning to use it on have flat metal handles as these won't fit over the rounded rubberized style handles. I always worry when the grandkids are around that they'll tough something that's hot so this handle holder takes that off the list of grandma worries. It's well constructed and fits snuggly but not so tight that you have to fight it into place. A good product that I saw the gals on ATK using (another brand but the same thing). I am more than happy with mine.
