We battle flea problems in our house every late summer/fall thanks to one of our cats always getting out and bringing them back in from other people's property. Once she has them, they're on the dog and the other cat. I've vacuumed and washed things like crazy, including the cats, but those alone will not take care of the problem. I've tried other competing brands that don't seem to work as well. I won't touch the cheap drugstore products because they are much more toxic. Usually I can get the fleas off the dog with a few flea baths, as long as I'm treating the cats (the dog is a weimaraner so not much hair). However, last year I struggled for far too long so I got the cats and dog the advantix brand of drops. Within a couple of weeks the fleas were gone for good. I made sure to keep vacuuming and washing things so no stray eggs in the house could hatch and that worked great!

I have not switched to any other product since I started using this one. It works so much better than any of the other topicals or types that you administer orally. There are way more risks of harming your pets with the oral types than the topicals. The only risks with this type is basically a rash. I have found that this brand works much better for fleas, ticks and especially mosquitoes. I live in south Louisiana and at times the mosquitoes will pick you up and fly away with you but with the Advantix II, you don't have to worry about them bothering your dogs. The dose applied also lasts longer than the recommended 30 days. I wait 40 days before reapplying and my dogs are still free of all fleas, ticks and mosquitoes at the end of 40 days. It is a waste of money to buy any of the herbal or other all natural products and these work far better than other products that claim to offer the same protection. I highly recommend the Bayer K9 Advantix II

I live in the jungles of Rus Rus, Honduras with a sable German Shepherd. I place this tick repealant on his chest and in-between his front legs, because he walks through a HIGHLY INFESTED tick area. He passes by the tall grass and gets the ticks directly on his lower chest. I KNOW the directions say to place the repealant on the dogs back, but it works effectively on the lower chest in HIGHLY TICK INFECTED jungle areas. I also use the Tick Twister sold on Amazon.com to remove any leftover ticks. My dog lays calmly while I remove any ticks, and he acts like he is getting a massage! Again, the K9 advantix II and the tick twister are great ways to keep a dog clean from ticks.

Let me tell you a trick. There is ABSOLUTELY no difference in the concentration between Advantix 2 for big dogs vs. small dogs. The only difference is the quantity. For example the small dog tubes are .04ml and the extra large dog contains 4.ml of fluid. So I buy the ex large pack and distribute the tube amongst 4 dogs that vary in size. 2 chihuahuas, 1 Boston bull, and 1 bully pit. This product works well. My dogs are primarily outside dogs. We live in the country and our neighbors are cows in pastures and chickens in houses. There's lots of bugs and the fleas were already tormenting my dogs due to our mild winter here in south Mississippi. This product has made me much more comfortable with letting my dogs in and out of my home over the past week. We didn't have any negative reactions and my pups seem a lot happier without the pests on them.

This flea medicine helped get rid of the itching that my dog had when we first got him and now he only has the occassional itch. I liked buying this via Amazon because it was cheaper than at our military veterinarian. Just a reminder not to use this on cats as it is toxic for them!

I gave this a 5 star rating because I've always found it effective on my dogs to prevent fleas and ticks. I've added cats to my household and my vet told me to stop using it. If a cat lies down next to a treated dog or lies down where a treated dog was, they can absorb enough to begin showing toxic signs. While I knew it was toxic to cats, I was not aware of the chance of product transfer. IF YOU OWN CATS, DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT IF CATS WILL HAVE READY ACCESS TO TREATED DOGS. If you only own dogs, I have found it to be very effective for flea and tick control. I wish Bayer or Amazon would have a stronger warning than "Do not use on cats".

We have Golden Retrievers. We live in Southern Vermont. We have ticks here, mosquitos, and fleas. We have been using K9 Advantix II on our dogs for several years, soley during the warmer months. This year, because of an early February thaw, I had to make the purchase and application earlier than usual. Ticks, ticks, ticks. I do not like the dog on the furniture, but my older kids love to cuddle with him on their beds. I worry so much about Lyme disease for my dog, and much more for my children. Lyme prevention is the primary reason that I use this product, and I believe the product delivers. That being said, I do not apply every 30 days. It is strong. I apply every 6-7 weeks. I mark my calendar which is why I know I’m going 6-7 weeks. Our dog is right on the cusp of needing the XL Dog dose; he’s just over 55lbs, and I’ve been considering going down to the Large Dog dose in hopes of reducing toxicity exposure. I imagine that doing that may increase his need for the medicine to 4-5 weeks. I will update any dosage/application changes. Best of luck to review readers!

K9 Advantix II is the only flea/tick/mosquito/fly treatment that protects my Newfie from pests. I recently made the stupid mistake of trying another brand and I'm kicking myself. If you haven't used this yet, you really need to try it--especially if you live in one of the mosquito capitals of the universe, as I do (Maine, where the mosquitoes are not only larger and meaner than anywhere else, but smarter--in fact, they're smarter than most of my neighbors). When you combine heavy pest problems with a long-haired dog (especially one with sensitive skin, like my Newfie), you want the best. K9 Advantix II IS the best. Trust me.

We have a 165 lb. Mastiff, and she started getting ticks (almost two a day, it was horrible!) once we moved into a new house with a dense wood for a backyard. We immediately started searching for a good tick product and settled on Advantix. It is SUPER easy to apply (just squeeze the tube) and our pup doesn't seem to mind it one bit and never tries to lick it off, and we haven't found a tick on her since we've started using this. I was a bit worried, being so large, we would have to use two doses on her, but one dose has been doing the trick with ease! We've been religious about reapplying every month on the nose, and it has worked AMAZINGLY. I would recommend K9 Advantix to any large dog owner that wants a tick product that will product their WHOLE dog, no matter the size!
