Good investment
I just purchased a new Apple iMac! Also, I purchased the Protection Plan. These computers are expensive & it is wise to buy the protection just in case. Also, I had a question about downloading Adobe to my Apple so my kids could view Nick Jr videos. C/S would not answer any questions until they made sure I had the protection plan. C/S explained that I could download Adobe & it was safe to use. C/S does have other options to offer customers who may NOT have the protection plan, but it is pretty much (diy) do it yourself. Buy the plan you will not regret it.

AppleCare at less than the Apple price
I don't normally purchase extended warranties but, in the case of an iMac, I thought it prudent. It is very difficult and expensive to repair an iMac so I decided to get the additional coverage. I was a little reluctant to purchase AppleCare from any vendor other than Apple. I read the reviews and pulled the trigger saving about $40 over Apple's price. When it arrived, I entered the information on Apple's web site and received the confirmation showing the codes were accepted. I now have extended coverage for my iMac at a decent price.

A Must have for Mom's computer
I bought my Mom and iMac and in addition to the hardware protection, I adore the AppleCare Protection for the telephone support. I'm happy to take my mom's calls and help her, but it's really nice that she can (and does) also call Apple. They have been very patient with her and walk her through the various issues she has dealt with (not that there are many). This is a great investment and goes hand in hand with your iMac. I can't imagine not having bought it. I spent a lot of money for that iMac for my mom, and it's nice to know that it's now protected for 3 years and also that she has support. It's really well priced too.

Great Value for the $
Highly recommend taking this out. First of all very competitive price. Secondly, Apple is what customer service is all about. This plan provides extended access to their excellent advisors, and protection when needed. Had a small issue with my newly purchased IMAC. Rep immediately did diagnosis, and without hesitation referred me to repair center. Unlike others, they looked up my address and saved me 60 miles of roundtrip driving by locating a qualified center 4 miles from my home. Nice to deal with a company that cares.

Don't leave home without it
If you are a windows person and you decide to switch to apple after the disaster called Windows 10 attempts to hijack all your personal preferences. you should spring for the protection plan - not so much for the computer itself, but for the phone support, as there is a learning curve that is much easier to overcome with their phone and apple store help.

AppleCare for the iMac
The AppleCare product extends your warranty for an additional 2 years for parts and labor but the most important reason for me to acquire it was for the handholding that it affords me on problems with the Operating System and esoteric procedures that are not immediately apparent with any complex device. This advice is given by the World Class Apple service personnel in the US who are but a phone call away. If they cannot solve the problem on the phone, an appointment is scheduled for you at the nearest Apple store with a Genius as happened in one of my cases and I am a fairly knowledgeable computer user. I would wholeheartedly recommend this product, especially to those who are transitioning from a Windows computer or for those who are not computer whizzes.

AppleCare for new/refurbished Apple Products a MUST
Anyone buying Apple products definitely should plan to purchase extended AppleCare within the free 12 month warranty. Buy it immediately, or 11 months into first year gives you 2 more years of grace. It is offered through Apple Store or buy it through Amazon and Amazon vendors. At Amazon, or their vendors, this will save you BIG BUCKS for newest editions w/NO registering problems. I suggest this, not because Apple products not great, but for peace-of-mind. I've purchased nothing but APPLE products for years w/wonderful results. Would NEVER revert backwards to PCs. The extra coverage is peace-of-mind for those times THIS operator made OOPS problems for 'em, not due to product malfunctions. Every time the folks at Apple got 'em fixed, zero cost, even when upgrading from LION to EL Capitan on both 27" desktop and 2011 17" laptop. Extended warranty is not cheap, a big money-saver over time. Now get covered!

Affordable Insurance
If you purchase an Apple product I strongly urge you to buy the appropriate Apple Care Protection Plan. Several years ago I purchased iMac G5 that operated smoothly until. one day the SuperDrive ceased functioning. Because I had bought the Apple Care Protection Plan, Apple sent me the parts and directions to replace the defective drive. Apple also provided the option of taking the iMac to an Apple Store for repair, but I decided to do the rather simple repair myself. Before the iMac G5 I had used an eMac. I did not purchase the Apple Care Protection Plan at that time. After 2 years the eMac just simply "died". How I wished I had bought the Apple Care Protection Plan.

Great Value
Apple Care was highly recommended for my new iMac. Amazon was $20.00 cheaper than Apple. Very easy decision. Now after 2-1/2 years, I can unequivocally say that AppleCare was worth every penny.. Early on, I did have some "issues" with my new iMac. The technicians at AppleCare solved them quickly and painlessly. I never had to wait to speak to a technician. Every tech to whom I have spoken, spoke American English. If the problem was beyond the capabilities of the technician, I was immediately transferred to a supervisor. All of the techs were extremely patient and helpful. The AppleCare service is so superior that I would never consider using a PC again.

Buy it, your a fool if you don't
Yes it may seem like a lot but think about it. You just plonked down over $1000 for an iMac and for another $150 or so you protect it for 3 years and get 24/7 tech support. Every time I've migrated to a new Mac I've encountered software compatibility issues and settings/preference issues somewhere during the first few months. The Apple support is one of the best and well worth the price alone. My last iMac started having video issues about 2.5 years after I got it. Applecare in hand. No problem. Fixed in about a week and is still running in my daughter's room now I have my sexy new 27 inch one. And don't get suckered into thinking the "retail" electronics store "dork" squad is a better deal. On my iMac it was about $60 more expensive than Apple care for only 2 years service and only gave limited hardware support at that. Your mac fails they'll try to fix it or get you a refurb replacement. Apple service goes the extra mile and you get 3 years of tech support to boot. The retail store can't match that. No contest. Usually I would not recommend extended warranties for most things but every Mac I've had I've gotten Applecare for and I can confidently say I've gotten my money's worth each time.
