I love this thing so much. Where have you been all my life? I make soups a lot and this baby purees right in the cooking pot so you don't have to (scoop some soup in the blender, vent the lid so it won't explode, pour it back in the pot, repeat, repeat) do all that boring messy s**t. No mess. Did you hear me? No Mess! Just detach the blade part & rinse it off & put it away. I also made garlic scape pesto in the small plastic cup, oh my, what a joy. No Mess. I hope you get my overall drift. I hate washing All Those Parts when I use a blender, so if you do too, invest in one of these and you too will be canning 400 lbs of marinara sauce with, you got it, no mess.

I ordered the Breville BXB51XL Immersion Blender primarily for making breakfast smoothies after tiring of the time and work taking apart and cleaning my stand blender after every use. The blender is fast and powerful. Once you learn the technique of raising and lowering the blender in the mixing cup, it makes quick work of turning ice, fruit, and yogurt into a smoothie. I was also amazed at how neatly the blender works without splatter or splashing due to the design of the blending blades and shroud. The plastic mixing container is nicely designed with a handle for securing the container while blending, and the top when inverted and placed underneath acts as a skid proof cushion to keep the container from sliding around on the countertop while blending. The container and top can also be used to store soups or other liquids in the refrigerator. For me the blender works better at making liquid based creations (smoothies, milk shakes, soups), however, it does a decent job of chopping vegetables, onions, etc using the chopper attachment. The whisk attachment works great for beating eggs and making whipped cream. Clean up is a breeze, and Breville made this with safety in mind since the blades are protected by a shroud. The only potential negative is someone with very small hands may find the grip too large, however, I find the cushioned grip and trigger switch to be ergonomically pleasing. A note of caution - Amazon pops up a recommendation for a chrome milkshake mixing cup when you purchase the Breville blender. The base of the cup is too small for the blender, and can only be used with the whisk attachment, not the blender blade attachment. I would pass on the milkshake cup. A leading consumer magazine rates this blender higher than others costing 2X more. I followed that advice as well as the Amazon customer reviews and found a great kitchen tool at a great value.

June 2nd the motor died on the blender now. So disappointed Couldn't wait to get this, got it a day earlier then it said, altho I bought it from amazon warehouse at reduced price because of cosmetic flaws, a scratch on the big pitcher, it didn't have the original box, but came with all parts, wrapped in clear plastic bags, and tags, as well as operation manual. I was using two food processors to grind up my husband's food and constantly having to wash them, etc, got to be so much extra work, and I dreaded it. Immersion blenders are easy to clean and then quickly move to the next thing for the menu, also you have more control with these as to what you want to mash, puree or just chop by hand with a stick blender vs. food processor. I feel liberated from the washing and cleaning of my big processors. This Breville The speed variation is very nice to have, also noticed it is quiet, surprised me how quiet it seems, the grip is so comfortable this Breville is very pretty as well, the color is a dark grey and black. The containers are nice quality and stack which I love that feature, I tested each piece for function, the wisk turned, and on high is really amazing, same with the small processor. I made ice cream with the stick tonight using frozen bananas, milk, honey, no ice, was out of heavy cream or I would have used some, compared to making this in my stand processor, this was a breeze, so easy I will be making more desserts like this now. I had recently bought a used 5.00 Braun at thrift store to see if the immersion blender would work to puree his food, the suction on the Braun MQ caused me to crack my ceramic cooktop because it stuck to the bottom of pot and lifted it and when released came down hard and cracked the cooktop, so now my 5.00 Goodwill blender, is costing me a lot because I have to buy a new cooktop, Had no idea when I first used one this could happen. I did not have a problem with suction, or splatter with the Breville, very happy with that, I made a loaded tater soup tonight that was sooo good, also had no problem with removing the shaft from the blender head. I will take some photos of all of it, and show some food as well soon, haven't actually used the processor or wisk, but they both function, will update this review to include my experience with the food processor part, and wisk. I already like that the top of processor doesn't lock on, will make it so much easier to just dump things out and add more, far quicker ..will also be so much easier to wash then my old processor. also like the smaller size so I can blend smaller amounts. I will be testing this everyday, as I use daily to prepare food for someone who has difficulty chewing, so foods must be chopped, ground, etc. I didn't use the jug to mix the ice cream, as I haven't washed it yet, but used a wide mouth empty protein shake container so I could then store the rest of ice cream in it. the reasons I bought this blender over the others *shaft length longer so won't feel the heat from soup etc. *the protection for non stick cookware on bottom +largest mixing container with lid and handle +food processor larger then most but perfect size to mix small amts as well +stackable design is awesome +variable speed +comfort grip and design +long cord, with hole for unplugging +non suction bottom, (as I mentioned, the old Braun broke my ceramic cooktop from this) so be careful. +more noticeable power with the 280 watt I can't wait to use this blender with all it's functions, for all my cooking, I love to make no bake cheesecakes using gelatin and whipped creams, meringues, etc, this is perfect for that with the mixing jug as well. Also make a lot of soups in my crockpot, as well as bone broths, chicken stocks, chili, spaghetti sauce, I have noticed with immersion blenders everything is better, sauces, dressings, can't believe that all this time I have been killing myself with the big processors.. can't wait to make mayo, guacamole, all kinds of butters, whipped cream butter.. etc etc etc. I hope this one will last me many years and hours, recommended by America's test kitchen, and many other websites, glad I got this one. I did a very in depth search for the right system, this one stood out because of all the features listed above, and poor reviews of other makes and models always led me back to this unit. Needed the lower suction and wanted protection for non stick pans, long shaft, comfort, long cord, power, larger mixing jug, lid, handle, larger processor. Takes up no space on my counter, I keep it plugged in and separated from the bottom, on a cutting board in the corner, with the bowls stacked. Love it. Already removed my two big food processors, and my stand mixer off of the counter. Yeah.. liberated. note: on e replacement parts for this blender, if you look at the replacement parts list, their is a diagram # 23 of the blender shaft how it's put together, behind the blade are several washers, screws etc if they stay tight would keep food from getting into the hollow part of the shaft. Also if you want to buy just the 42oz mixing jug it's 7.95 and the lid is 3.95 so 11.00 parts to replace the whip attachment are all very cheap, it's 37.99 to replace the entire stainless hollow blending shaft blade etc. also I think if you want to fill up the hollow shaft with water and just let it keep flowing and running out this would clean it, as well as running it while holding in soapy warm water. update have had this for a couple weeks or so and love it still, I use the whisk and processor attachments alot, whipped cream is quick and easy, the processor is so simple to use and clean and does a really great job, the immersion blender has been so perfect for what I needed, it will chop meat etc with no problem, is not heavy, very comfortable to use. loving it still very happy with this product. Update : 11/20/2018 still loving this I use it several times a day, the whisk to make quick whipped cream, the blender I use multiple times a day for my husband who needs ground food, it works very well, is so much easier than my big cuisinart to use and clean, and I use the immersion blender every single day for smashing sweet potatoes, or other crockpot foods into soup so he can eat it, I make sure I rinse the parts right after use, I love this thing, so functional, easy to use, easy to store, love the pitcher and lid usually I keep full of whipped cream right now, but also is great for anything else.

Wow. When my old immersion blender crapped out on me, my husband urged me to buy a nicer one with the hope that it would last longer. I researched, researched some more, and researched some more before landing on this one. One of the comparisons I read said they couldn't believe how often they reached for the extra parts of this immersion blender, and boy, were they right!! I use the mini-food-processor cup almost every day; what a surprise. I had actually tucked all the extra parts into my lazy steve (yes, we re-named ours from a lazy susan to a lazy steve), thinking I wouldn't use them....but then one day I needed to make a pesto. Should I drag out my heavy Cuisinart food processor? Hmmm, why don't I try my new immersion blender?" It was all over after that - I was in love. It's SO easy to take out, use, and clean up. Does a better job at immersion blending soups, and the extra attachments are icing on the cake. Hey, speaking of icing, I should try making icing with this... Love it. Highly recommended.

I will never have a different brand or model. This is unbelievable! I have been living with a $30 “other-brand-that-doesn’t-work-most-of-the-time” model. I am vegan and I use this for my own version of vegan mayo. The old model took 6-8 minutes to immulsify and even then, half the batches had to be thrown out because they never set up. Today, I used this model for the first time. It took me 45 seconds for the first batch of vegan mayo and 45 seconds fir the second batch. Hallelujah! I felt the need to write this tonight after a life-changing experience. I go through 4-6 jars of my mayo per week, so this is really important!

After years of eating a lot of frozen TV dinner health food. I decided to start cooking more and taking lunch to work to save money. A "foodie"friend at work has been encouraging me, giving me recipes, and recommending cookware. She recommended I get an immersion blender for use in a number of recipes (mostly soups). I did a LOT of research and decided on this Breville for four reasons: 1. It has the most powerful motor. 2. It can crush ice. 3. It comes with a mini food processor attachment. 4. It received very good reviews from other owners. So far I have made Curried Cauliflower Soup, Cheddar Broccoli, and used the food processor to make Minestrone soup and Beet/Onion/Been Veggie Burgers. This tool is awesome. You have to really control it though, it tends to want to stick to the bottom of a big pot of soup from suction; just keep it moving. I haven't been splashed once, and here's the secret: never bring the blender above the liquid while it is running- even a smidgen. Go in a slow circular motions while also bringing it up and down, but always submerged. I was impatient and did not wait for my soups to cool before blending the hell out of them: no splashes, no burns (but don't be an idiot like me). Can't wait for summer smoothies.

So far, this thing is kind of a revelation for my tiny ass "kitchen". I make a lot of things in my instant pot because I don't have a gas range or an oven, and was getting really tired of putting hot soups and sauces in my blender because there'd invariably be splash back. It munches through pretty much anything, lickety split, and the food processor attachment has cut my prep time back exponentially. Tonight I made fresh pesto, chopped up a ton of garlic and onions (no tears, natch), and also blended out the sauce for my chicken. Worth every penny. I use it constantly when I cook.

As with ALL Breville products you pay for what you get. I have now so far 6 Breville appliances and they are all marvelous. Yes, you will pay a bit more but you know you will have a brilliant appliance that works like a charm and looks killer in your kitchen! This particular immersion blender does way more... it chops as well, makes smoothies and it comes with several attachments. Seriously folks, why bother getting any other brand when Breville is the bomb? All are superb. Do your research, by all means and get what you can afford. These are some of the Breville appliances I own, the Smart Oven, the Grind Control Coffee maker, the Scrapper Mixer Pro, the Panini Grill... and I am beyond pleased with their performance, durability and their esthetic look. You won't go wrong by choosing Breville, I love my new immersion blender and am pretty sure you will too if you choose to purchase it! OUTSTANDING!

Blender was purchased roughly five months ago with the primary intended use being smoothies and shakes. We had been discussing the purchase after I decided to start drinking fat shakes and the bullet we were using gave up the ghost. She thought we were just going to get one of the well-known brands in the $20-50 range, but I was seeing review after review implying that I was looking at a 50/50 chance of a defective product and subsequent fight with return/warranty. You should have seen her eyebrows when I told her we were getting the model she had never heard of, the one that cost twice what the next most expensive model we were looking at did. Now I'm a simple man. If I buy a product from someone, I expect a correlation between price and quality. Bells and whistles are nice, frills are pretty, and something that looks a lot more expensive than it is can start a few conversations, but if I'm shelling out this kind of money on a kitchen appliance, I expect it to do the job assigned in a way that makes my (or, more often, her) day easier or more efficient. This is that blender. Let me tell you, boy is it ever. Her initial sticker shock quickly faded, and now she's living in a world of weird soups and sauces she never dreamed of before. This thing sees daily use between shakes and smoothies, and on top of that she says this is the single most versatile kitchen gadget she's ever used. Do yourself a favor and forget the cheap plastic models you'll replace in a year. If you're going to be using this daily, or even multiple times a week, this is the immersion blender for you.

I love this immersion blender. I use it mostly for making mayonnaise. I have never had a fail. All the ingredients go into the container and then presto chango in about a minute or less of blending you have the most beautiful creamy mayonnaise. I have a vitamix but I don't have a food processor so I use the little chopper/food processor for making great cauliflower or broccoli rice. I can't make cauliflower rice in the vitamix because it over processes the cauliflower into a paste but the Breville chopper attachment makes very even, small riced cauliflower bits that are perfect -- better than store bought riced cauliflower. I love my breville immersion blender and I use it often. I love also how it froths and mixes without causing everything to shoot up over the sides of the container and spatter all over the counter. Everything stays nicely in the container.
