- Stereo microscope for home or classroom use enables students and hobbyists to inspect biological specimens, rocks, stamps, jewelry, and large specimens that require handling or manipulation
- Trinocular viewing head with pair of 10x super-widefield high-eyepoint eyepieces, adjustable interpupillary distance, and 45-degree inclination to simplify viewing for young users
- 2x/4x objective provides low magnification and longer focal length for inspecting large-scale specimens, and a 2.0x Barlow lens extends the magnification range
- Ambient lighting illuminates the specimen, eliminating the need for power or batteries
- Single boom arm with 8" vertical working distance and adjustable 16" boom arm enables users to adjust the microscope on the X- and Y-axis

Pretty darn good.
Alright, lets get this out of the way first. If you are going to judge this against a Mantis or a Zeiss or a Bausch & Lomb you will be dissapointed. Its none of those. If you are in electronics testing and repair or even hobby work and want a well built value priced NON TOY stereo scope then you looking at the right item. I find this to be a very good bench asset in doing fine repair and assembly work. You will though need some accessories to make this work well. 1.

The base is super heavy, the microscope is a great bargain
Pros: The base is super heavy, the microscope is a great bargain. Cons: The work distance at minimum magnification is like two inches. I removed the 2x barlow lens that comes with microscope - BETTER! like 8" work distance maybe. But still not suitable for my intended microsoldering application. Do as I do here; order amscope's 0.5x barlow lens. ($49). This will result in about an effective 6x - 27x power and probably enough room for vertical soldering pen. I recommend this microscope and barlow lens change for anyone looking for their first (and probably last) microsoldering 'scope.

Very pleased
This is the first stereo scope I've owned, and the first I've used in many many years. I was prepared to pay twice as much but decided to take a chance. I'm very pleased! The fit and finish is excellent. I've found none of the rough edges or cheap-outs that often accompany bottom of the price range items. The base is *very* heavy and therefore stable. The chrome finish on the tubes makes adjustments very easy and yet the various knobs need only be finger tight to hold things in place. The glass is defect free and the focusing rack is velvet smooth. An additional surprise is that the eye pieces can be adjusted to compensate for my extreme near sightedness and being able to use it without glasses is a super bonus. The intra-ocular adjustment of the eye pieces is critical and it takes a bit of practice to get them set just so for full binocular vision. But, once you've got it tweaked, everything is clear and sharp. The magnification is more than adequate for my use assembling printed circuit boards and the wife is using it for her various crafts. One caveat is that the 'barrel' is just a bit bigger than the LED lighting rings (sold separately) will accommodate. I returned the LED ring and now use two inexpensive desk lamps which provide more than enough illumination.

The base extension arm and swivel head adjustments are perfect for sharing the view
An upgrade for us after ten years with a basic model. The ring illuminator now comes with an adaptor, so the tapered objective barrel is not a problem if you want the controllable LED lighting. AmScope was very helpful in sorting this out for us when we missed the adapter ring in the excitement of unpacking. The optics are very bright, very sharp. We may be a bit unusual, in that we leave the 'scope on our kitchen table and use it constantly with children. The base extension arm and swivel head adjustments are perfect for sharing the view. I had wondered about the stability of the unit when fully extended - kids sometimes hang onto the eyepieces when viewing. No worries - it's heavy and super strong, very stable. Thanks to AmScope (and the Chinese) for making a quality instrument affordable for family use.

Great work space for micro-soldering
First, i was impressed with the packing job, everything was well packed and it arrived safely. Next, the instruction manual that came with the unit did not provide assymbly instructions for the boom stand, but if you need a microscope like this you should have no problems figuring out how it goes together. Lastly, the 2X barlow lens will not give you any workroom, the lens has to be right on top of the object you are viewing, but it is awesome with the .5X barlow lens! i had to actually raise my chair a little to be able to raise the scope enough to see my object, gave me about 7-8" of work space which is plenty enough to get my iron, twezzers, or whatever i needed to be able to do the job. Recommend for anyone that works on phones, laptops and gaming controllers/consoles

Great for micro electronics repair
I needed a scope for micro electronics repair, this works perfectly for me. If you need to use a camera look at another model, you go cyclops (one eyed) if you use the trinocular mount. Otherwise works great.

Surprisingly good quality, heavy duty with clear optics and easy focus adjustment. However, you need the 0.5 Barlow lens for enough room to manipulate a soldering iron and an LED ring light. Highly recommended for the price and no need to spend more for repair work.

I love it, even if its not the $2500 Nikon scope I use at work, it is great for the price. I wish it had that adjusting knob for 0.7X-5X. This scope is set to 2x or you can switch to 4x, or if one buys the Barlow lens, it can have a different magnification.

Amscope matches up with the big boys
We perform electronic assembly and have been using very expensive microscopes for years. We decided to give a lower cost unit a try and boy were we surprised with the optics. Great image, clarity and zoom controls. We are very impressed with Amscope. We used a 0.5 coupler to increase the field of view.
