Excellent Tiller
This is an amazing tiller. I bought this primarily based on the Amazon reviews and I was not disappointed. (and thank you everyone that shared your experience) Very easy to assemble and it is half the cost of renting a tiller for the day. Perfect for our 25' x 25' garden and really easy to lift into our raised beds.. Really works the soil. I have 10 acres but using two long extension cords is so much better than messing around with the 2 cycle gas engines on the smaller tillers. Someone had commented that even if this only lasts one season it is worth the price but I can see us using this for many years to come. We love our Sun Joe!!.

Sun Joe TJ601E Tiller Joe 9-Amp Electric Garden Tiller/Cultivator
We have a small garden and have been using an old gas powered tiller for years. It recently broke down and was going to cost way to much to fix or replace so we started looking into small electric tillers. I did a lot of looking around and I liked the Sunjoe tiller for its width and depth, it was just the size we needed. Prices varied, most places wanted $249 for it plus shipping. I found one here at Amazon for $170 and free shipping. Cant beat that deal. It came yesterday and was very easy to assemble. We took it out to the garden to try it out and this little tiller does the job very well. It is lightweight, and easy to use. It broke up the hardened soil very well. The only drawbacks I can think of is that it does not till very deeply, but we knew its limitations before buying, and of course using an extension cord. I had no problem using it and keeping the cord out of the way, but when my mom tried to use it she ran over the cord and wrapped it all around the tines in less than one minute. The blades do not have a sharp edge on them and did not cut the cord, but even though it unplugged the cord and the motor cut off, it still wrapped the cord around the tines 10 to 12 times before it stopped. Overall I would recommend this tiller for ease of use and price, but it is only for light use, and is not designed for deep heavy tilling jobs on very large gardens, and you must be very careful when using drop cords.

Great tiller, does that it's supposed to
My husband and I were looking into putting down new sod in the backyard, which meant tilling up the existing hard-packed dirt with dead grass that had been baking in the San Diego sun all summer. He went to all the usual hardware stores and almost rented one of their tillers, but found that after paying the rental fee, gas, and then renting a truck to transport the monsters they had, it was barely more $ to buy a tiller that was delivered to our doorstep for free (LOVE Prime) and that we'd then have on-hand for any future jobs that might arise. Based on other people's feedback, we allotted ourselves about 3 hours for him to till the backyard. It took 20 minutes! Assembly was very quick and easy, and not having to mess with gasoline was wonderful. The tiller is light enough that you can carry it wherever you need to go, but tears through hard dirt and dead grass like nobody's business. Even if it was only for one job, I would still buy this tiller. Even better, it's now sitting in the garage ready to tackle any other patches of dirt or lawn we might decide to re-sod.

Great little tiller
I have to admit that I was a bit apprehensive in ordering an electric tiller. But so far, it has exceeded my expectations and chugging along very nicely. I have clay soil and when i first tried it, I thought I had made a horrible mistake. The tines just bounced off the packed clay and it made no progress at all. Turned out, I had just picked a particularly hard spot on my yard to start, and once I powered through that spot, the tiller worked very well. I found that spraying some water first helped as well. So far, I tilled around 2000 sq. ft. of mostly packed clay soil. My backyard was previously sodded and the blue netting keeps getting caught up in the tines but that doesn't seem to slow it down. Some tree roots and larger rocks to get stuck and I have to stop occasionally and dig those out. I don't think the tines spin fast enough to cut through the roots. It may be due to my somewhat wimpy extension cord. Better gauge one might allow the full 9 amp of power. I also found that a slight yawing movement helps cutting through the tough area. Basically, I let the tines spin up, and then lift the handle, allowing the tines to bite in, then I yaw left and right, and alternate that movement with up and down. Once in a while, I lift up the tines completely and let them spin. I think electric motor is cooled by an integrated fan/fin so if you're letting it bog down constantly, it's not spinning fast enough to cool it. So far, no heat-related shutdown at all. I'm about halfway done with my backyard project (breaking up clay on about 3000 sq. ft backyard, tilling in soil amendment and fertilizer, and laying new sod) so I'm hoping it can survive through that because I think the job might be tough enough to break a gas tiller down. For what I paid, I'm not necessarily looking for something to pass down to my kids. If it survives, then I can use it for my vegetable gardens.

Lightweight and as good as expensive models.
I have only used this a couple of times, but I was pleasantly surprised that such a light (and inexpensive compared to a lot of others) had the power that it does. I have spinal cord damage and typical disk issues. I myself used it for about 4’ digging up extremely hard ground that had been packed and grassed for 40 years. I could not use it for my 25’ x 5’ garden area, but a neighborhood teenager did it in about 30 minutes! If it holds up this may be one of the best products I have purchased. I also own a sun joe pressure washer that I love. CON: You do have to make sure you have an extension cord that reaches to the area you need to till. Or I suppose a small generator would work.

Great Little Machine
Love this little tiller. I ordered this tiller to maintain a 20x20 previously tilled garden patch and to start a new 10x8 garden. This tiller works beautifully on previously tilled soil and pretty well on breaking new ground. Keep in mind, this tiller is light weight. This is an advantage in that it is easy to move around. You can simply pick it up and move it to where you want it. However, if you hit rocks and roots, it will bounce. The lack of weight can make it just a bit unruly at times. Nonetheless, I broke some very tough ground and chopped through some 3/4-1" roots with this little machine without too much trouble. It may not outperform the big gas engines, but it is powerful enough for casual gardening, light and easy to move around, quiet, and super easy to use. No more gas, oil, etc.

Excellent tiller.
This tiller rocks. It's surprisingly light and powerful, cut right through hard Virginia red clay. Was able to till my whole garden in less than 2 hours. You definitely have to be very aware of where the power cable is at all times. It can jump and kick some since it's so light, but as long as you pay attention it's pretty safe. Well worth the price.

Excellent easy to use tiller that chews through tough soil to get the job done quickly
I was not sure what to expect with an electric tiller, but I am very happy with this purchase. I hate dealing with gas yard machines regardless of their job. The tiller was able to easily chew through the soil for our new garden beds in no time. I got down 5" or so with ease to fluff up the Cascade Mountains Concrete we have. Then we tilled in some decent soil for the perfect mix. Now we have beds ready to go for winter growing, with not much work. The tiller is not heavy at all, so whipping it around and getting it where it needs to be is easy and picking it up to store it is easy as well. I think I ran this almost continually for a few hours chewing through some tough stuff and it still works great. Next up is to get the lawn area ready for re-seeding! Anyhow, if you are in the market for a tiller for your yard or garden, this is an excellent option to chew through tough soil and get it ready for new grass, gardens or whatever.

ground through the garden in nothing flat
I will admit I was skeptical this would work as well as my old gas tiller/ cultivator. I was quickly proved wrong! The Sun Joe TJ60 9-amp electric tiller, ground through the garden in nothing flat. Turning the soil into a fine crumble and kicking rocks up happily. I found the handle configuration a bit different but I was soon able to handle it well and maneuverer the machine. The tiller is light weight enough to lift if you get " stuck" and heavy duty enough to kick up rocks out of the way and chew through some of the tough clay based soil I have. Assembly is easy ; if following the directions. The motor is not overtly loud; nor is the vibration as harsh as with a gas powered motor. All in all I am impressed with the tiller. I will admit I have not tried it on un-cultivated earth, so as far as that goes I have no idea, but I mostly use a tiller in the garden, which has been cleared.

under promised and over delivered
I bought this expecting it to be light weight and limited as to ability to really properly prepare a garden bed. I was half right. It is light weight, weighing only about 35 pounds. But it worked through a new garden plot area in no time. I have an area of my lawn that hadn't been disturbed probably since 1926 when the house was built. I forked the ground, but that left large chunks of dirt the size of volley balls that needed to be worked. I honestly bought this thinking it would be ok for spring tilling and future years, but didn't expect it to do much of anything with the dirt clumps that I had. Tiller Joe no only worked the clumps out, but left a nice smooth finely tilled dirt path in its wake. Given its light weight and electric power vs gas, I never expected it to do that, but it surprised me. I look forward to years of use in my new garden plot and am even considering replanting my lawn with Tiller Joe's help. The only feature I wish it had, which it might if I spent time looking at it, is the ability to remove the inner or outer set of tiller tines to be able to till in narrow rows or to straddle a young vegetable plant row. Believe me, I'm very satisfied even if this can't be done.
