Best for Dorms
I know I'm the one who knows best about this product. I used this for one school year last year, and now I'm purchasing a new one for the following year. I used this in my dormitory, and I personally think this does its price. It is very light, portable, and easy to start with. You can basically cook anything with this, if you need to cook an egg fry, add some aluminum foil in the bottom, if you need to boil water, this one's perfect for ya, and if you need to cook pasta, not a good idea. It cooks perfectly for almost anything like noodles and instant rice. enjoyed it. I do strongly recommend it, but just for unfrequent use.

Server the purpose exactly what I wanted
Update review I bought this last year Nov. I am a tour guide on the road everyday. I use it everyday to boil water or cook food. Takes less than 90seconds to boil water and 2minutes to make noodles. No it won't adjust the heat so you can slow cook things. It has been the lightest cheapest best hot pot I got my tour guest on the bus want to buy one as well. never experience any leaking nor shortage of any kind. After Washing I put it back to the box which I didn't throw away since day one and put it back to my suitcase. Never a problem. Like I said my previous review, if it's broken, I will buy another. It's that good of a value ,for what I do. I wanted a plastic light weight big opening hot water boiler for me since I have close to 300 days out of a year on the road job. not all the hotel has decent coffee maker to boil water casino has none. this boiler is cheap and light weight and boil pretty fast. And no, it doesn't adjust the level or burning at all just a plain old boiler.the big opening is good to eat noodles right out of it and good to wash. I haven't try to make rice out of it since it boils so much and I am out trying to be too greedy. It serves the purpose and it's exactly what I wanted. for the price and performance and I have been having it over two months it's still working no leaking not broken, happy purchase. if it break in a year it's worth for me to buy another one.

It heats up freaking fast - like faster than a microwave
My boss is too cheap to buy a microwave, so I leave this at work to make a quick can of soup. It heats up freaking fast - like faster than a microwave! I had read that before purchasing and didn't believe that until I tried it. Cleans up super easy.

Love this thing
Love this thing! It will bring water to boil in about 1 minute easy if you set it on high. I use it in my horse trailer living quarters when camping. Great for oatmeal! Or, if you just want to warm some water to put in sink and wash face. I bring water to boil and pour in sink with cold water. Awesome.

The Best Simple Hot Pot
This is my second Proctor Silex electric hot pot - the first one is still going strong after a number of years. There are more high tech water boiling solutions available but this model style does exactly what I want it to do quickly and I don't need to worry about sensor faults or it not being on a pedestal or whatever, I just want hot water. In my opinion, there isn't a great deal of temperature control but I think most people are just going to want hot water as soon as possible and this guy boils water very quickly. The other model I have is translucent blue and is a bit easier to visually tell when water is boiling so I was slightly apprehensive about this newer opaque white model but it's just as easy to tell when the water has come to a boil (first, the sound is obvious, but also you can easily peek into the spout too). Highly recommended for impatient people who want hot water right away.

Very fast, very reliable way to heat water. Love it!!
I use this every morning to rapidly heat the water for my instant coffee. And I do mean rapidly. Love it. Getting another for a back-up, just in case. Have given some to friends as well.

Quick to boil
We pretty much only use this to boil water, so we don't really change the temp control much. It boils water significantly faster than my teapot on the stovetop, so faster tea and ramen. I don't know if I'd want to cook anything tomato based in it, as it likely would stain the plastic.

Does what it is supposed to do, durable and inexpensive option
We bought this in a hardware store years ago and it worked great. Lent it to a friend and let them keep it since they really needed it. They even use it for a double boiler by placing a glass measuring cup inside while boiling. This one we purchased from Amazon is the same product and works just as well. Haven't used ours for anything except boiling water for tea or coffee in our RV (haven't used it boon docking yet). Easy to clean, we only use filtered water in it though. Boils fast, within 5 minutes at middle setting. Would set it higher but don't really need it faster than that. Unplug to turn off.
