Works wonders on garden tools and scissors
This device provides a good collection of sharpener fittings in a single tool. I particularly like how easily the edges of all my old scissors came back to life; the sharpener paid for itself in scissors alone. The large finger guard is also great for protecting your hand while sharpening large tools. For an excellent knife edge, though, go to the ceramic pullthrough. You don't need any technique, just keep your knife vertical and use delicate pressure while pulling it through the ceramic. Don't roll the knife out of vertical or you'll be blunting the 46 degree edge. Also, you can put a couple drops of water on the ceramic, because the best sharpening is provided by a wet slurry on the ceramic rather than dry ceramic. You won't believe the difference between a somewhat sharp knife and a well sharpened knife.

Great for hand pruners and scissors. Recommend watching Amazon video.
Great for sharpening scissors. Purchased Dec 2017.... still working great. Recommend watching Smith's video for this tool on Amazon. Very handy tool. I have four pair of kitchen scissors I like to keep clean and sharp for food only. I have 4 pair of scissors I use for gardening at three different work garden benches I like to keep sharp. Work Great. Paid full price. I have three different Smith's sharpening products.. recommend.

Great sharpener for garden tools
I used this to sharpen a pair of hand shears and a pair of loppers. I had to take apart the hand shears in order to be able to sharpen the entire blade but it wasn't very difficult to do. It sharpened both tools to just shy of a razors edge, plenty sharp for pruning. I also like that there is a guard to protect your fingers if you were to slip or otherwise contact the blade.

Pleased with both scissor and knife sharpening performance.
I had modest expectations as I typically sharpen my woodworking tools, and my knives, with diamond stones - and this is a LOT cheaper option. But I didn't like sharpening scissors, so I gave this a shot. To date, it has worked well in bringing some old "dull as can be" scissors back to life, and also worked well on a few pair that were already in pretty good shape. As for the knife sharpening feature, it does reasonably well unless you must have or just want the absolute highest quality edge. The results have been far more than adequate for a pocket knife, and I also sharpened a few dull kitchen knives as well. Some knives required only a few swipes on the fine edge, but it also worked well on others that required a bit of work on the coarse edge first. It is easy to use and can work for both left and right handed scissors. Just remember to use the correct side depending on the orientation of your scissors (it is clearly marked, I just didn't pay attention the first swipe). While it is all plastic, the sharpener feels sturdy. The black rubber gives you the right amount of grip, and while I am no hiker, I think the plastic handle/clip mechanism combined with the tacky black rubber would keep it where you intended, even on the outside of your pack or if clipped to other gear. My only complaint (minor) is that it feels a little awkward when you sharpen scissors. Assuming you hold the scissors in your right hand as would be expected for those who are right handed, you have to hold the sharpener in your left, which means you are holding the "leg" with the sharpening mechanism when in use. It feels as if it would have been perfect if the left and right handed scissors sharpener configuration were reversed. That said it just took a few swipes to get comfortable - and not many more to finish the job. I am pleased with the purchase and my wife likes it as well. She was a little scared to sharpen scissors or knives, but feels safe using this tool. We would recommend it to others who do not need a surgical quality edge. I suspect I will be using it more often than not for all of our scissors, and almost all of our knives.

Excellent 2-Stage Sharpener with Smith's Quality! Works On Scissors, Too!
The Smith's Jiffy-Pro is a truly great knife sharpener! Makes it easy to sharpen and maintain a variety of blades safely and conveniently, even if you've never sharpened your own knives before! It's easy to use and really does give your knives (and scissors) a proper, sharp cutting edge without the hassle of traditional sharpeners and expensive stones! Benefits: 1) Combines the best features of both draw-over and pull-through style sharpeners. 2) Large enough for easy and safe handling, but small enough to be convenient for many uses. 3) Offers true 2-stage sharpening to repair blades in any condition 4) Integrated scissor sharpener in handle is worth the price alone 5) Durable construction, lightweight and ergonomic design 6) Great value compared to nearly any other sharpener! Cons: NONE! Well, maybe that there aren't more color options. The 2-stage design is perfect for most knife-sharpening duties around the home or shop. The carbide blades are highly effective at cleaning up a rough edge, while the ceramic rods offer a finishing touch for maximum sharpness and help maintain the blades on recently sharpened knives. All in all, this is probably the best bang-for-the-buck sharpener available anywhere and it's backed by Smith's world famous reputation for quality sharpening utensils. Highly recommended! TIP: When maintaining a blade, it's best keep the blade finished with occasional use of the ceramic rods. This will help your blade last longer and deliver better performance than letting it go completely dull and having to do the 2-stage process over again. When sharpening, allow the blade to glide through the sharpener without adding pressure. It may require an additional draw or two to get the edge as sharp as you want, but your blade will last longer and so will the sharpening inserts.

Cheaper than a pair of new scissors
This product works REALLY well! I brought back to Ginsu-specs all the scissors in the house that I could find - serrated, curved, angled - with ease, and even a few pairs I thought were long gone and were headed for the recycling bin. Easy to use and to hold for small hands and big paws alike. They're good, and much better than the more common block-shaped things. I've tried many types of sharpeners and these are the best.

Handy little tool - restored many worn blades
With a fair amount of aging tools on hand, I spent some leftover gift card balance on this little gem, to see if I could restore them to a higher degree of usefulness. Good idea - this handy item has given new life to lawnmower blades, ancient garden shears, branch nippers and an old rusty machete that I still keep around. It's very easy to hold and use - the only sharpening unit I have not used yet is the scissors sharpener. A solid purchase that I would recommend to gardeners (cooks would probably like it, too).

Worked well for me!
This pretty much did exactly what I had bought it for and had great value and versatility. I've sharpened both blades (Exacto knives) and scissors with it, and cannot only visually see where the blades have sharpened but have cut into the same materials immediately after and got noticeably better results. It's not a miracle tool that turns your blades into brand new, perfect products, but this DEFINITELY extends the life of your existing blades and is worth the reasonable price.

Works well for scissors
I had a very dull pair of Scotch Titanium Scissors, and was debating if I should buy new scissors for 12 dollars for 3 pairs, or this sharpener for 10 bucks. I'm glad I bought this sharpener. I just followed the instruction and less than 10 seconds, my very dull scissors became sharp again.
