Ideal hard case
This is an ideal pelican case for my use. I package 15" Thinkpad laptops in here with a small switch underneath. Additionally I fit a decent size block of electronic devices (about 6" square by 12" long) for a very neat way to package and travel safely. The foam inside the case is four layers. The egg-crate foam in the top lid. A bottom solid lining layer of foam (about 1") and two ~2" layers of perforated foam where you can cut out spaces for your items to fit. This could easily fit a nice SLR camera and two or three lenses; A camera and a laptop; etc.

Excellent protection. Easy to customize the foam.
Pelican and Nanuk both make great cases. I'm using this for a piece of high end test equipment. The case is pretty heavy even without the test equipment, but it's a large case. Plucking the foam to fit the gear was very easy and fast. Excellent protection for my frequency counter.

Great case
I travel a ton so I built an office in a box with a 19” monitor, laptop stand, USB hubs and surge protector. It’s a little heavy fully assembled but I can work anywhere I have internet and power. I cut holes for 4x120mm computer fans. If you’re gonna do that, I’d say max out at 80mm. Still looking for a way to seal the fan holes in transit.

Pelican For The Win!
If you are wondering if Pelican quality is different from similar or lower priced manfacturers--I can tell you....it is! I own cases from several other companies and none of them match up to the durability of the Pelican--I haven't tried throwing it out of the back of a moving truck or off of a C-130 or anything, but I have put this case to the test and it has passed with flying colors. Pro Tip....if you want to keep the pluck foam from getting loose (which happens with taking your items in and out time and again) buy some of the plasiticizing spray(Plasti Dip) and put a good 4-5 coats on the top of the foam--you should only do this once you have it in the shape that you want of course! This will give your foam a rigid almost plasiticized sand papery sort of feel and will prevent the foam from losing it's shape.

This is a big case!
My only complaint is that it is larger than I wanted, but that's my fault for not understanding how the dimensions are listed. The foam padding is great, and easy to make custom shapes to fit my gear inside. This case is very tough, and I feel like my equipment (a Bolex movie camera, mini-DV camcorder, point and shoot camera, + lenses and accessories) is safe and well protected inside it.

Pelican 1600 Case with Pick 'n Pluck
Yet another awesome Pelican case. Can't go wrong with Pelican to honest. I have bought several of their cases, several in this size and a few other sizes. I use this to transport my electronics when on trips for the military. I never know where I will end up but I can tell you that everything I take in the Pelican makes it out in better shape than I do. Brought a Samsung 22" LED and Xbox 360 last trip and the case was constantly left in the rain, bounced around in the back of a humvee, and sat on by 2-3 people for weeks at a time while eating lunch and it still looked new when I got back. My only advice is make sure you get ACCURATE measurements of the items you plan to keep in the case before you purchase, it's very expensive to ship these back if your stuff doesn't fit. Pick 'n Pluck foam makes it easy to make generic shapes for most items but if you want a real custom fit and extra protection, invest in (or build your own) hot wire foam cutter and trace your items onto the foam with chalk and then cut them out. Makes for a much tighter fit and saves space to fit more stuff in the case. Recommend.

Great Quality and Dependable Case at a Great Price!
I did a lot of research for a good quality hard shell case for my Canon XA30. Not only did I find one but this case surpasses my expectations and is a Great case and Very well made and Very durable... It comes with 2-2" Foam inserts that you can easily customize to fit your equipment perfectly, the lid does not fold back flat 180° however the case will not fall backwards like most less superior cases when the lid is open.. If you have expensive equipment then why trust a flimsy cheap case that will most likely fail when you least expect it and put your equipment in jeopardy, spend the extra money for a case that will protect your investment...

and I am sure she will love it. I have used mine on many occasions
What can I say? It's a Pelican. I bought this for my fiancé, and I am sure she will love it. I have used mine on many occasions, and it has protected my expensive camera and any other gear I may put inside the case. I am not afraid of it falling in the water or dealing with any other severe conditions. I last used mine on a fishing expedition to Alaska to protect my camera. It's worth the price.

Pelican has the best cases! I would never buy a different brand.
Love this case! It is sturdy as hell (like all Pelican cases), and is fairly large. It has 4 latches (2 on the front, and 1 on each side not containing hinges). The pick and pluck foam is great, and there are 2 layers of it provided in this case, not including the bottom and top linings. It does not have a roller and handle option like some of the other models but, personally, I prefer this style anyway. You won't find a better case. A 1 inch lock is a tight fit for this case, but it will still work well. If you need to store valuable, dangerous, or electronic items (safely and securely) Pelican cases cannot be beaten! They also have lifetime guarantees, which is nice peace of mind just in case it ever breaks (which I highly doubt).

Fantastic case for protecting valuables during a hurricane.
Bought this case to house documents, laptops, and small irreplaceable items during hurricane season. We have been fortunate to not have to submerse the case in water, however should we need to I am confident the case will perform. It's heavy duty - great if you have to throw in the car quickly and head somewhere. Compared it to getting a regular dry bag or something like a Yeti cooler which could have another purpose during the rest of the year and this really was the best way to go not only for the durability but for the money.
