PROs: • velcro closure makes it easy for toddler to take off and put on • beautiful glossy, black finish CONs: • sizing is a tad small (go up a half size, maybe even full size if child has wider feet) My 4-year-old daughter just started dance classes and after researching many different brands of tap shoes, we decided on this pair. My average-size 4-year-old wears a size 8 street shoe (normal width) and we went a half size up with these to 8.5 and they fit great with a tad bit of room to grow (so I hope she can wear these this entire dance season). The glossy black finish is beautiful, overall this seems to be a high quality shoe, and so far no scuffing or blemishes even though my daughter isn't exactly careful with these during dance class. What makes this shoe stand out from the rest though, is the velcro strap — this way my daughter can easily put these on herself when they change from ballet slippers to tap shoes during class (no straps to tie or elastic to squeeze through). In case it's helpful, here are the other dance outfit components we purchased — we are very happy with all of these:

These tap shoes are exactly what I was looking for! My daughter is 3 and this is her first year of dance. I wanted a tap show that she could put on by herself and these are perfect! The Velcro is easy to strap and the shoes stay on well. She wears an 8.5 in street shoes and the 10M fit great (with a little room to grow). FYI, the brand inside of the shoe says “So Danca”. I was happy about this because we received a hand-me-down pair of So Danca taps that seemed to stand the test of time. I looked everywhere for this brand and couldn’t find it. I was pleasantly surprised when the shoes arrived to see that they were the So Danca brand.

Great tap shoe for our daughters beginning tap class! Nothing fancy but she can put them on herself so that is a plus. I urge parents who are buying tap shoes for beginning tap classes to buy Velcro. Do NOT buy ties...the teacher does not have time to interrupt class over and over to re-tie your childs tap shoes!

Thankful for reviews as I knew to size up from the get go. Sizing up 1 to 1.5 sizes is perfect. This is the 2nd year in a row that I’ve purchased this brand. Last year my daughters typical shoe size was a toddler size 8 so we bought a 9. This year she was and 8.5 so we bought a 10. These tap shoes lasted through a full dance season with her last year and a friends daughter is now using them this year with no issue. Our studio requires tan tap shoes that buckle or Velcro (basically no ties/shoe laces). While the other little ones struggle and need help with their buckles, the girls wearing these can get them right on and get right into class without needing assistance. They’re fantastic and we will continue purchasing them year after year. Just don’t forget to size up!

LOVE these little tap shoes. My daughter grew out of her first pair which had elastic with a tie and were super hard for her to do and she kept just ripping out the tie. Thought I would try some Velcro so she could manage them easier to get on during class.... I had purchased two different styles to try on and ended up keeping these because they are much softer cushioned on the inside and not so stiff and also the strap is great because it goes all the way across to loop through the metal loop which gives a lot of slack to undo the shoe without totally pulling it out of the metal loop and having to re-thread it through. I also decided to hand stitch my own little black bows to the end of the strap so they can’t pull out at all now and also look even cuter!! Size is great! Her foot is a little wider so narrow shoes we don’t like but these are great and not narrow. Normally wears an 11/11.5, so I got 12 and she has a little room to grow.

I bought these tap shoes for my 6 year old granddaughter. She normally wears a size 2 and has a wide foot. I ordered a 3.5 because the suggestion was to order one size up and size 3 wasn't available. However, because of the cut and the adjustable velcro strap, the size 3.5 fits her fine - even without socks! They are black patent leather and have a slight heel. There is black grosgrain ribbon sewn around all of the upper edges. We love, love, love the velcro strap as it's easy for my granddaughter to put on and take off with no help at all. They are well made. The taps are fairly lightweight metal and so the tapping sound is a manageable sound level. This is great because my granddaughter is wearing these from morning til night. ;-) My granddaughter is not currently taking tap dancing lessons and never has before. It doesn't matter. All little girls become dancers and entertainers when they slip on a pair of tap shoes. These make a marvelous gift for any special little girl and if you add a leotard and sequined top hat, she will be thrilled.

My daughter who complains about pretty much every shoe she has to wear has not complained about this particular shoe one time. She loves wearing them during her dance classes. If she does not complain about these shoes, they must be very comfortable indeed! Also, they are very easy to put on and take off with ease. The strap is so much easier for her to work with compared to a shoe that has laces to tie, buttons, etc. My 3 year old absolutely loves these tap shoes. You cannot go wrong with this selection!

Great tap shoe for the price. I was apprehensive about buying my daughters shoe size as her previous tap shoes from a local sports store were not “normal” sizing. I sized up, but these are true to size of toddler shoes. She is in a size 11 toddler shoe, but I ordered a 12 just in case. These are big in her and a true size 12. Per another review, we just stuffed some cotton balls in the toes and she’s happy as a clam and I’m grateful they’ll fit her for a bit. Definitely order your child’s shoe size if you want a true fit, with no cotton ball stuffing.

They do not stretch by any means but the sizing was accurate for us. Daughter just outgrew her size 7 shoes so we went with 8 regular and they fit her nicely. One warning they are super slippery. When she walks fast she slips every time- user error of my 3 yo-- not any fault of the shoes. The Velcro strip is long so as she grows we may get some play there. We bought a different brand last time and he Velcro kept popping open; I don't see that happening with these.

These are the perfect tap shoes for my daughter's dance class. The exact color her studio asked us to get and easy velcro closure so she (4 yr old) can put them on herself without assistance. The taps are securely fastened and have already endured HOURS of tapping (during weekly classes and at home)! I will definitely be buying this same brand when she inevitably outgrows these. These were true to size as I bought her regular shoe size for her to wear. I fully expect these to be handed down to her little sister b/c I believe they will be outgrown before they even come close to being worn out!
