• Stereo microscope for home or classroom use enables students and hobbyists to inspect biological specimens, rocks, stamps, jewelry, and large specimens that require handing or manipulation
  • Forward-mounted binocular viewing head with pair of 10x widefield eyepieces, adjustable interpupillary distance, and 45-degree inclination to simplify viewing for young users
  • Interchangeable 2x and 4x objectives provide low magnification and longer focal length for inspecting large-scale specimens
  • Upper and lower illumination has LED light source to illuminate specimens
  • Frosted stage plate allows light to pass through from below with transparent specimens, reversible black and white stage plate provides contrast with light- and dark-colored specimens, and stage clips secure the specimen during viewing

I'm a professional with experience using high end microscopes from Zeiss, Leica, Nikon, and Olympus, some costing several hundred thousand dollars and employing advanced imaging technologies. I purchased this for home use in order to look at various objects found on nature excursions. If you are a parent looking for a microscope for your scientifically inclined kid--or just a curious adult--and are only planning on ever buying one microscope, get this one. It will be a gratifying purchase, much more so than buying a compound binocular microscope (the kind most people imagine when you think of a 'microscope'). Although the latter achieves higher power and is the standard for looking at specimens mounted on slides, they are harder to use, the image quality is always poorer (even on high end devices), samples require preparation, and quite frankly, they just aren't as fun to look through. You won't be able to make out individual cells, single cell organisms, and such, but you will be able to see vivid images of everyday objects, such as seashell pieces in sand or the fibers in a dollar bill, in a way that reveals very unexpected details. And this is a nice little stereo microscope. Very good image quality, adjustable LED illumination (well worth it, in comparison to halogen bulbs which get extremely hot and burn out), compact size, and very easy to use.

I used a stereoscope in a lab when I was in college for some coursework. I always liked bringing random stuff to look at underneath it before and after class. I always thought in the back of my mind that I'd like to own one someday but assumed that they would be far too expensive for me. I found this somewhat randomly on Amazon and bought it the same day. I am so glad I did! I use it to look at so many things, especially natural objects. Try looking at some sand, you'll be astounded by the different colors you'll see up-close. Mundane things become literally breathtaking under this stereoscope. The price to performance is excellent and I love that it's got a battery mode so that if I want to take it outside or somewhere with no outlet it's good to go.

My first binocular microscope. This is a stunning deal for the price. My first subject; a cockroach. Wow. My fly that's been swimming in alcohol is next. Just Wow. On the base is a female thread that I mounted a stud connected to a micro sized articulating arm holding a powerful LED flashlight for the 4x view. As indicated in the photo, the arm can hold a platform for a small subject. [Dead house fly won't lie on it's feet!!] I'm going to tap a similar hole in a place that does not conflict with the knobs, however. Manufacturers, take note. A solid five stars for the price/value of the item. I'm going to give it to grand kids some day soon and get the higher end zoom model with a trinocular camera port.

This scope has such a great build quality and is perfect for viewing objects in fine detail. It is not a biological microscope for examining blood or cellular details. It does excel in exposing minute cracks on a electric board or the names of the US states on the Lincoln Memorial on a 5 dollar bill.

Great teaching scope for kids. Discoveries galore out of their own yard or with stuff from the park. There is no variability of light intensity, but use of thin tissue to mute the glare can resolve clarity issues. I used Kim Wipes, but plain onion skin or even standard printing paper will do. Amazing quality of image for price, and I've even been able to take some pictures with my iPhone, but it is tricky to be steady.

I read all the reviews for this microscope before I purchased it for my niece. I have to say, this microscope is amazing! It's the perfect size, especially for my 9 year old niece. I expected the microscope to be good, but it was much better than good. I have an expensive inspection microscope, and this microscope is close to mine. I definitely recommend this microscope, even for an adult.

I am a science lover, and I want to create a similar love in my grandchildren. This scope is easy to use, and allows incredible observation of anything you choose to look at. A dead beetle or wasp is just that until you slip it onto the stage, and then it becomes a thing of wonder and beauty. I wish I had gotten one years ago. Worth every penny and so much more.

Well built, stable, excellent optics, the LED light is bright enough and an improvement (in my opinion) over the halogen bulbs (they were hot). I chose this unit because it can be used in the field while being powered by batteries. That nicely expands its utility.

Traded up from the AmScope 120 to this this and it is worth every extra cent. This unit is sturdy and steady. The focusing mechanism is well built - the previous models stripped the ratchet when the focus was turned too far. The headpiece can be swiveled for items that can't be clipped to the stage or for another person to view. The lights are excellent and hold a charge for (it seems) forever. The optics are clear and easy to adjust. As you can tell I am delighted with every purchase of this unit.

I have about a dozen of these in my classroom and I love them. The best thing is that they operate on batteries so I don't have to mess with cords like I used to do. These things are great.
