Can't say enough about these filters. Its amazing how much dirt, pollen..etc it cleans out of the air.....and I live in a little studio apartment. I can tell a huge difference when I put a new one in...which I love. I would recommend these for everyone...even if you don't have severe allergies. What could be wrong with breathing clean fresh air? I live across the river from Cincinnati, and I know for a fact that smog is a problem here.....so I sleep better knowing all that stuff is being cleaned out...especially while I sleep. If I had a house, I would have one in each bedroom for sure, and get bigger Holmes air cleaners for the rest of the house.

Works well to lower allergens in the house

I've used the AER filter system for years. I've tried saving the filters by not turning on my unit, but my allergies can tell when it's not on. It's also useful for placing near a fireplace if the flue doesn't close all the way and you get ash downdraft. I currently use it in front of my fireplace because I'm renting and get the downdraft.

Works

The Total Air Filter works, but don't expect miracles. We use this in our open living room/dining room as we are renting a space that had smokers as previous tenants. Carpets have been shampooed twice, but the smell lingered. The filter helps eliminate SOME of the odor and when we don't have the filter running we do notice a difference.

Works great for my allergies

I use this with my Holmes HEPA Small Room 3 Speed and I find it works very well. It's used in the bedroom in between the door and the bed. I use mostly because I was diagnosed with an allergy to cats and I own one. So after a detailed cleaning and started using the air filter that came with it (which is the one), my breathing and other allergy symptoms reduced and have pretty much stopped. I will continue to buy this filter for my HEPA Air Purifier.

I live in a valley in the northwest that has bad air quality

My air filter takes two of these cartridges. Seems to clean my small house air very well. I live in a valley in the northwest that has bad air quality, especially when there are forest fires. I can't wait to get home after being out at work or shopping to be able to breath clean air.

Perfect for Holmes air purifier hapf30 unit! Great deal

It's so important that the air in my home stays clean, both my husband and I have terrible allergies! When I purchased my Holmes air purifier I checked on filters and they seemed really hard to find! I researched and found Amazon was selling this! It is Perfect for my Holmes air purifier! Hapf 30 keeps the air smelling clean and most of all we haven't had any allergies this summer. Just make sure you use use the replaceable charcoal filters as well. This way your hepa will last longer.

Good Filtration for a Good Price!!!

This air filter significantly cleans our small bedroom of dust and allergens. I noticed that I have been sleeping better, and the room feels fresh and clean. There is no good way to tell how long the filter will last. Depending on how high your fan speed is and how often you use it, you may want to change it every 3 months. The best part is, the filters are cheap! Its good insurance, particularly for someone who lives in an old dusty attic apartment in the city!!! Love it.

I know it is working...

I bought the Holmes air cleaner for my nightstand a long time ago. I started buying the filters from Amazon because they are always available (not so at Walmart) and, if I buy them on a subscription basis, they are a better deal. I know the filter is pulling dust and allergens out of the air because I can see it turn from bright white to tan to brown over the four months of its life. I also sleep better with this running all night, not only because I am breathing cleaner air, but the white noise of the fan sends me into a deep sleep. (I live in an apartment neighborhood and it blocks the noise of the Incel boys on the balcony across from my bedroom window who smoke and vape pot all through the night and hack and cough while they are huffing.)

Not True Hepa, but good balance between price and performance.

The Holmes AER1 'HEPA Type' Total Air Filter isn't a True Hepa Filter, but it provides good filtration at a fair price. In the past, I've made the mistake of ordering cheap low quality generic filters for my Holmes Air Purifier, and was disappointed in their performance. This OEM filter is much better quality and costs little more. When these filters reach their end of life, I may even upgrade to the Holmes True Hepa Allergen Remover Filter. But for the time being, I'm happy with the Holmes Hepa Type Total Air Filter.
