Fairly simple and much missed design. Had a similar version for years but it vanished. The course grind is perfect for salads or any other item.

Thanks to this high quality pepper mill, my food can now be seasoned with evenly ground pepper! Especially nice that I am allowed to alter the size of the ground pepper bits depending on what foods I am eating. Refilling is simple: twist the silvered button off and pull away the wooden top to reveal the peppercorns' home.

Impressed, given the price

When I first started searching for a new salt mill, I thought that I was going to have to spend $40+ to get a good looking and quality mill. I decided to take a chance on this one and am very glad that I did. The wood is beautiful and it is extremely easy to open and fill with salt and adjust the grinding size. The details page doesn't mention that the mill is adjustable, but it is. You adjust the grinding simply by how loose (coarse) or tight (fine) you secure the top. The top screw also has a small S or P to distinguish between salt and pepper if you buy the matching one. It's not a sticker, so you will need to buy the salt or pepper version as necessary to get the right letter. I was so impressed by this that I decided to get the matching pepper mill too.

beautiful and functional

I have been very satisfies with these because, not only do they look so good in the kitchen, but they grind the Himalayan salt and black pepper pellets in a very fine manner.

I bought this after buying and being disappointed in the Clifton set from Cole & Mason (the DKB Household company that distributes Cole & Mason products in this country was very responsive and good to deal with), mainly because of the inefficiency of grinding and the poor working of the coarseness adjustment, meaning you had to turn the grinder a lot to get a reasonable amount of salt and the coarseness adjustment was close to nonresponsive. But this grinder is just the opposite. I have it set on coarse grind using Himalayan salt, and it sends a wall of salt down with each turn. I've barely tried it on fine adjustment, but it did seem to work well on that, too. The top adjustment screw does loosen gradually with use, but is extremely easy to just tighten back down a bit and this is a total non-issue. It does leave a small residue of salt on your table or shelf when set down after being used, but it's easy to remember to just tap it a couple times to clear most of this before putting it back on the shelf. Again, to me, this is a total non-issue in comparison to how well it works. Filling it is easy, and its size, especially circumference which determines how well it fits in the hand and hence how easy it is to turn, is excellent. The wood that it's made out of gives it good coefficient of friction, so your hand doesn't slip when turning, even when moist. I'd guess the circumference of the base and top is just right for both men and women's hands. It's nice enough looking, just like in the picture. It's a pleasure to have found a salt grinder that works this well.

Love Love Love

This pepper mill is so sturdy. It is smooth finish. Has great weight, not flimsy. The operation is superb. It grinds easy and perfectly. Adjusts easily. I have owned several pepper mills in different materials and styles. I love that the grinding mechanism will not grate plastic into my food like the cheapers ones do. When I can afford it I am buying the matching salt mill. I think this mill will last a long long time with proper care. So glad I purchased it.

Sturdy and pleasing design

Looks cool, works great. Ask me again in 5 years. I bought this because for a while I have been using the salt and pepper sold in self grinding jars until I opened one up and noticed that the grinder is plastic and is considerably worn. So where is the plastic going? IN ME! No more plastic grinders. This seems well built and sturdy. And it is easily adjustable for fine or coarse - I like it coarse and some mills will not easily adapt.

This pepper grinder works great and looks attractive on my counter which was important to me as I leave it out and next to the stove all the time. It is a little bit large in my hands but I have small hands so definitely not the fault of this lovely wooden grinder. I would recommend it.

As to the Pepper Grinder? SUPERB! Beautiful and well crafted, this grinder would be right at home in any 5 star Prime Steak House, yet just as at home under a Palapa next to a charcoal BBQ. Perfect size, shape and texture to be ground by a professional waiter or a clumsy husband. Highly recommended.

Beautiful & Effective Kitchen Addition

This grinder is a beautiful addition to our kitchen and serves its purpose very well. The silver piece at the top unscrews very easily for a quick refill, and there aren't a bunch of moving parts. Simple, elegant, and effective. Much like other people have mentioned, I wish there weren't so much salt on the counter after it's been sitting. But if you give it a few good shakes after you're done grinding, much of the leftovers can be prevented! Overall, my husband and I love it and use it multiples times on a daily basis!
