This is really great for doing homework and studying on my couch (where most of my studying gets done in winter, due to the fireplace. My actual "study room" gets way too cold in Michigan winters without jacking up our electricity bill). It's small enough to easily store out of sight behind the couch when not in use, but big enough for my ipad and notebook to easily fit. I have a 13" macbook pro that fits perfectly with some room to spare on the sides and in the front, but I can see why people with bigger computers might complain. Though honestly if I had a bigger computer than the one I have, I wouldn't be using it on my lap very often to begin with...

This College Girl Loves This Desk!
I got this for both gaming (because the bottom of my laptop tends to get hot) and school work (because I like sitting on the couch and my lap is too low)! The second I put this on my lap I fell in love. My laptop has little skid-proof spots on the bottom so no issues with the sliding some people mentioned. Worth the price! I wanted something simple and comfortable but didn't like the prices of the other lap desks. This is absolutely perfect. I raved so much about mine that my boyfriend bought one too so now we can game side by side on the couch!!

Excellent LapDesk
I am really impressed with the LapGear MyDesk. It's lightweight and well designed. It fits comfortably in my lap and is very stable. The surface is slippery, but I took the advice of another reviewer and used a piece of shelf liner when I am using my tablet. The hard surface works just fine when I'm coloring on it. It's large enough for pages from a full size adult coloring book to fit. Highly recommend this lap desk.

Very useful, Lightweight, Smooth top, Very soft pads, No raised edge "lip": No reservations recommending!
This lap desk is quite useful, and the quality seems to be sufficient to make it last a long time (if that changes after I have more time to use it, I'll update this review). Note that this lap desk is smaller than some other brands/models, which I didn't realize when I bought it. I'm still happy with it, but since my others are larger, I was surprised at first. This actually might be a great benefit, namely in case the space you have available isn't very large (such as if using in a chair with arm rests that limit the space available). And since there are no raised edges, it's no problem that the keyboard I'm using right now as I use this lap desk is a bit wider than the lap desk (my keyboard is a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000 model). I really like the totally smooth top surface that makes using things that are larger than the lap desk surface no problem to use! They can just hang over the edge without an annoying lip on the edge making it unbalanced: very nice. And I've come to enjoy the smaller size than my others in one particular location where I have an arm rest that is right up against my body. It was also nice to see, although not really very important, that the manufacture date on the tag tells me this was manufactured in April of 2016 (I'm writing this review at the start of August, 2016). I like new stuff, and while it probably doesn't matter (especially since this is made in China, as with so much other stuff), but it's possible that a much older unit might be more likely to have more dangerous contents. On the other hand, the tags make very clear that inhaling the filling material in case the cloth on the bottom pads breaks is extremely dangerous. But the cloth seems very solid and unlikely to tear without something very sharp like a knife or scissors pressing into with some force. At the same time, the cloth is extremely soft!!! It's extremely comfortable against your skin, being kind of fuzzy and plush; very pleasing to the touch. Another nice thing I wasn't sure about at first, but now know is great, is that the padding on the bottom is in two rows, rather than being one large pad. My other lap desks are similar, but they have one large solid pad. With the two rows of this model, that means less surface area against your skin, which is actually wonderful whenever the environmental temperature or your body temperature is hot. It allows a lot more air flow than the solid ones. And yet (this is what I worried about at first, but unnecessarily), I've not felt like I needed more padding. It's extremely comfortable with just the two rows of padding, and doesn't need a larger, single pad at all to feel comfortable and like nothing is lacking. I highly recommend this lap desk, only noting that if you need a large space for some reason, such as if you need to fit a mouse or trackball on it, then it might not be large enough. Just note the dimensions and determine how much space you need, because there are larger lap desks out there that might suit your needs better. But that's not a "flaw" or even a "problem," just a feature of this model that can be an advantage when you don't want your lap desk to be too large or heavy. One last thing: this lap desk is noticeably lighter than my others, making it much easier to pick up and move around! This actually can matter a lot to me, since I'm disabled and sometimes lifting my other lap desks that weigh more can be difficult or even painful when trying to lift them at a difficult angle (such as when having to twist and bend to reach one). This one is light enough to not present that problem, so it's a particularly great choice for people without a lot of strength, whether temporarily or permanently, including those who might be ill or handicapped in some way, or perhaps when recovering from illness, surgery, etc. Overall, I can't think of anything wrong with this lap desk, and I'm a picky person! I'll update this review if something changes, but as of now, after using it a little while, I have no reservations recommending this particular brand and model (unless you're someone who chooses to only buy products made in your own country, which I respect, but which didn't factor into my purchase or this review).

Just what I needed...
This laptop desk is perfectly suited to my needs. It sits comfortably on my lap and my laptop (13" Dell) fits really well. The surface could be a bit of a problem for holding tablets (they could easily slide) but unlike other lap desks I looked at, this one has a little guard thingy at the bottom to prevent books, iPads, etc. from sliding off. So simple yet so clever! I also use this lap desk to sit in bed at night and do crossword puzzles (OK, I'm a nerd!) and it's great for that too. My only issue with it-- and issue might be too strong a word-- is that I do not have any idea what the little compartments at the top are for. They're too small to hold pens. It does hold my iPhone XR if I sit still (although my laptop blocks it so what's the point?) but the compartment is not deep so if I move around too much I have to take it out of the compartment so it doesn't fall out. Basically, I find those compartments useless but they're easy enough to ignore.

Fits laptop and mouse, slots hold phone and pens, pellet-filled pads
The desk top is about 19" wide (side to side) x 13" front to back, and my laptop is 13" wide (15" diag), so my mouse fits next to it on the desk's surface. The edges are curved, so it's not a perfect rectangle. The surface is slightly textured, but not nearly enough to keep the mouse from sliding off easily. I just wrap the cord through the handle to stop the mouse from hitting the floor when it does. The slots on either side of the handle are pretty small and only about 1.5" deep, but adequate for holding a thin smartphone and other small items. The two pads underneath are microfiber fabric filled with little pellets that can be moved around a bit and are comfortable on my lap. I'm satisfied with my purchase.

It does wear out, but still worth it
I'm about to buy my fourth one of these in black. The padded underside does break down after a while, but for the price of a cheeseburger lunch, I don't see that as a big deal. I write long hours on my laptop in a recliner and couldn't do my job without this lap desk. I like the two recesses, I keep my backup Seagate hard drive hooked up to my laptop all the time and it fits perfectly into the one on the left. It would be nice if they made this in more "adult" colors besides black but that's a quibble.

Great product! Lightweight & conveniently portable
I paid more for the black color, instead of any of the other colors that were less expensive because I didn't want the color of the desk to reflect off of my computer screen or any "artboard" that I may be using and influence my color choices. This desk is nicely lightweight, the bottom has two separate cushions, one at the top of the desk and one at the bottom so there is an airflow passage between the desk and your lap. The surface is hard and firm. The surface is roomy, but not too large (in my opinion). It has a small handle opening at the top, and on either side is a recess that will hold pencils, pens, glasses...whatevs you want. That is one of the reasons i like it so much, that and its light and comfortable. Perfectly suits my needs, I can't think of anything that would make it any better. Except that i think it should have been the same price as the other colors, and not 50% more. Worth $20...$35 not so much.

Great for school work
My daughter loves this to do her homework on. She uses it every single day after school to do her work on her bed. It has compartments for her pens and pencils. She also used it to eat off of when she eats in her room.

Excellent product! Extremely useful when spending a lot of time in my recliner.
This is so useful! I have it in my lap with my keyboard and mouse on it as I type. I bought it when I was recovering from a serious illness and spent a lot of time in my recliner with my computer on a moveable table in front of the chair. It works great as a keyboard support or as a surface to eat off of as I watch Netflix on my computer or cable on the TV. I especially love the cushioning underneath. My legs never feel any discomfort from it being on top of them for hours at a time, and it's big enough to hold my breakfast plate *and* my keyboard and mouse as I check in with Facebook over breakfast. I cannot recommend this highly enough. If you know someone who is recovering from illness and spends a lot of time in a recliner, check if they have something like this and, if they don't, get them one!
