I am a software developer. I bang the heck out of hard drives. I've had the identical hard drive that I am now reviewing since the Seagate Baarracuda 500 GB first came out. I think I paid well over 200 bucks or so for it. I've used it for many, many years. I noticed that when restoring my hard drive from a backup, what used to take about 2 minutes was taking 4. After many puzzling attempts to figure out what was going on, I ran a hard drive diagnostic that Seagate provides. It failed on the drive. My drive was pretty much dead. So off to Amazon I go for a new drive. The same one that I have that is dead is now only around 20 bucks from OEMGENUINE. No way. Why not buy it and give it a try. Try I did. Just ripped out the old drive, put in the new and did a hard drive restore. WOW! 2 minutes. Thanks OEMGENUINE for making my software development machine whole again.

Worked great

I had an HP desktop with at 750 gb hard drive that failed. It was a segregate, and since this was similar I ordered it. This worked great and my machine is up and running. The important thing is that the connections on the top of the hard drive are the same as what I had previously. These matched and it slid right into the slot.

Nice and really easy to install

Put it right into my security system DVR no problem works like a charm saved me over $100 by just putting in 2 screws and plugging in 2 wires right into hard drive... I urge everyone save a little money install your own hard drive very simple YouTube video...it's really easy with existing cable that just need to be plugged right in and 2 to 4 screws that line right up very simple

Great backup hard drive

I used this to replace the old bad hard drive on my backup PC and it works well! Able to reformat it and install Windows 10 with it connected as the only hard drive. Has been going strong since I bought it and seems to be very fast accessing data but I keep the drive defragged once a month if not sooner. Was an affordable drive

Inexpensive HDD

I bought these hard drives to repair some older machines. I know I could have gone with Solid State Drives but the performance wouldn't make much difference for the machines these were going into. I haven't had any problems with the ones I have installed so far.

WorKS great, and great price too!

After a recent computer crash, I decided to put together an external storage device. Mostly what I needed to backup were photos and documents. This 500gb hdd worked perfectly. And the price was great too!

Tested and trusted

The only brands of hard drives I trust are wester digital blue and seagate barracudas. Never had any problems and it has been about 5 years using these specific drives. Curious as to how long they actually last but I imagine I would have upgraded to a solid state by then. Definitely worth the money. Cheap and dependable.

Perfect replacement

This drive allowed me to breathe new life into my older Thinkcentre desktop, works like a champ ( so far.)
