Ordered the disposal & it was delivered a few days later. It was an easy installation. Removing the old one & installing this new one. Used the same PVC pipes & hose & didn't have to fuss around with the pipes or dish washer hose. Disposal is working just fine, no problems.

I replaced my broken 1/3 horsepower GE GFC325V with this 1/2 horsepower GFC525V model. The original had failed after about 8 years of use. This one was, surprisingly, a tiny bit smaller and fit the space just fine despite having a stronger motor. All the connectors fit the same. I was even able to keep the adapter that was screwed into the bottom of my sink, which sped up the job. I was able to replace the old unit for the new one myself in about 30 minutes.

Easy to install. Good middle of the pack unit. A bit noisy, but I'm over 70 and my hearing is failing and it doesn't trouble me too much. My old insinkerator was much more quiet and I think way better quality. But it was expensive and this is the main reason I chose the GE as a replacement. Unhappy to learn that it was made in China. Would not have purchased it had I known.

I love this disposal! It's not too noisy and it really does the job. I have had none of the issues other reviewers here have had. The main reason I got it was to get rid of the random food that goes down the drain during meal preps or while rinsing off dishes, including dog and cat food dishes and cans. I don't use it to dispose of actual garbage so I can't speak to how that would go. But it keeps me from having to use and empty a nasty mesh food catcher in my drain and it's quiet enough to make me happy. I love it!

I purchased this model in Feb. 2015 to replace a 10 yr old previous model that broke. I thought, well, it lasted for 10 years, why spend $200 or more on a 3/4 Hp unit or a more expensive 1/2 Hp unit? Also, I thought by purchasing the same model I was hoping I wouldn't have to mess with the putting in a new sink opening hardware and hanger. One other thing, we liked the slim design which worked well under the sink for leaving more maneuvering room and storage under the sink. I installed the unit myself and it was very straightforward. It did indeed fit in the former hanger from the sink opening. Also, since it remained about the same width, all the plumping and the dishwasher discharge hose all lined up exactly the same way so I didn't have to change anything there. I just moved them out of the way and then moved them back in line. I did utilize the new large gasket ring that simply slips in place at the bottom of the hanger opening. Upon running the unit for the first time I was pleased with how much quieter it was than the old unit. It has worked well for the past few weeks. The one thing to remember is there are two choices in ordering: a) A unit with a cord that has a plug in the end to simply plug in the wall. This is what I needed/wanted; b) A unit with a cord that needs to be hardwired into the wall. They were different prices. I was ready to push the submit order button when I realized I was ordering the hard wired instead of the cord with a plug. I deleted and made sure I ordered the plug in model. I would recommend this unit.

I recently moved into a new (to me) home and in the first week, have had the joy of replacing the built-in microwave and the garbage disposal. When our garbage disposal started leaking around the reset button, I knew a replacement was in order. The old unit was an In Sink Erator 1/3 horsepower unit. I started looking on Amazon and decided on this GE unit based on reviews and my previous experience with the brand. **One thing to note - this model is offered in both "Hard Wired" and "Power cord attached" versions. If you want to plug in the disposal instead of wire it into your homes electrical system, this is the unit for you.** This disposal was simple to install and offers quiet, efficient operation. There are bigger versions of this model, but with the previous unit being 1/3 horsepower, I thought an upgrade to 1/2 horsepower in a similar size would be sufficient. Includes the splasher and stop guard as expected. I did have to cut the hose that runs into our undersink plumbing so it would fit. Wasn't difficult at all. Clear, concise directions are included. This unit does not appear to have an allen wrench for clogs, but so far we haven't had a need for one. For $100, this unit should last a good while and I'm happy with it.

This was a slight upgrade from my prior disposal, which was also a GE, but 1/3 hp. I have a small single sink, so no need for a huge disposal. I was able to install this myself. The hardest part of the whole thing was getting the old flange off the sink b/c it kept twisting around. I had to literally saw it off very carefully. The rest is pretty straight forward. The other hiccup was that my plumbing had to be slightly adjusted to fit the disposal, and when I tried to put it back together, the pipe between the disposal and elbow and rest of the plumbing was leaking. I freaked out b/c I could tighten any further. The solution was just an O- ring that was hidden in side one of my fittings was old and cracked. The O-ring goes around the smaller pipe and fitting is then screwed on. Sorry if I didn't use correct terminology, but I had never installed or changed out a disposal and don't do plumbing. I did You-tube, but this installation was a little different than others, but pretty easy and straight forward. It works great, by the way. Seems quieter than my old disposal.

Fit perfectly with room to spare in the space formerly occupied by my old GE disposer. This unit is much quieter than the old unit. Install was pretty easy - make sure you read the instructions about which gasket to use depending on the sink you are mounting to (stainless, ceramic, etc) and pay attention to the order and placement of the various mounting pieces... Should only take 30 minutes or so to replace an existing unit and maybe an hour if you have to alter the undersink plumbing. I'm pretty happy with it so far.

I have never installed a garbage disposal, but this was a relatively simple. I watched a few YouTube videos and away I went! I was replacing a GE brand (17 yrs old) with this GE. Things had changed between the models. Had to take all the old out and replace with this INCLUDING having to modify the pipes from the other sink to the out-drain. One trip to Lowes later for PVC and I was done in about 45 minutes. It beat the heck out of paying a plumber a couple of hundred dollars. This unit is quiet and cuts well. It doesn't say it, but you will need some wide-jaw pliers if you don't have a gorilla-grip hand strength (smile).

OVERVIEW I moved into a house with a dead dishwasher connected disposal. I had put off repairs for years and finally searched a comparable replacement. This was it! Nothing in the home improvement stores was small enough to fit it's place. Installation was so smooth, I can't believe I waited. This was my first real plumbing work and all I really had to do was tighten it down like hooking up a garden hose. DESIGN Perfect size as others at twice the width take valuable under counter space and we're not an option in my case. Not extremely loud at all and is comparable and or quieter than the one I had. After reading life expectancies of these are around two years, the previous one lasted almost 20 years since the house was built so I should be good for a while. I've had it for almost a year without any issues. Make sure you look if you need the plug in cable version of if you have to hook up the electrical on your own. PRICE Of coarse, this price also beat anywhere else I looked. I did NOT receive anything from the seller for this review.
