Just filled it yesterday - optimistic!
The Gravipod took three bags of sand, and I still feel as though more could fit, but we had already put it around the pole. It takes a little finagling to get the sand pushed to the edges of the Pod, but the setup is definitely worth the extra step! I purchased (or should have purchased...) the Gravipod 18x18 that takes up to 110 lbs.... but this item is for 85 pounds. I added square patio pavers to the base of my cantilever umbrella, and then put the Gravipod on top, to create even more weight to keep the umbrella in place. Some sand stuck to the Velcro closure, but the entire piece closed and sealed well, and we are confident that this will be a secure anchor for the umbrella. Definitely satisfied with this purchase!

Works great
It was a little difficult getting the sand into the pod. It took 2 people, one to pour the sand and the other to hold the hole open to the gravipod. Functionality is great. It arrived faster than we thought. I would recommend your product to others . Thank you!

We filled it with sand and it works great. We get a lot of wind gusts across ...
I purchased this in place of those giant base plates for a huge canteliever umbrella. We filled it with sand and it works great. We get a lot of wind gusts across our backyard. This holds the umbrella in place on our deck without it shifting and banging back into the house.

Works perfectly!
I received the bag yesterday and it seems to do the job. I had already added four 16" pavers to my stand which weigh 36 pounds each (144 lbs. total), then I filled the bag with about 100 lbs. of sand to make a total of 240+ lbs. to hold it down. This amount of weight prevented it from lifting, but I could still slide it on the deck, so I put a couple of 3" screws in the stand to eliminate that. I don't think the stand is going anywhere. The umbrella could still get destroyed if left open during a storm, but I don't believe the stand will move. Since I just received it, I can't comment on it's longevity, but it looks well made and I think it should last at least a couple of years.

A cost efficient solution to anchor a cantilever umbrella
Received this along with a new umbrella. Picked up two bags of sand at Home Depot and as soon as I had the umbrella base, I easily placed the bag over the pole and began filling it with sand. It took me about 1/2 hour the put 100 #'s in. Important thing is to keep moving the sand from the opening to the other side and fill it as full as possible as filling it completely requires some packing. Seems to be a great product.

The added weight of the Gravipod is Perfection
We purchased a giant tilt Umbrella earlier this Spring during our Patio rebuild, but the original weights could not stand up to the ocean breezes and frequent rainstorms, so we added the Gravipod as extra weight, and lo & behold, the Umbrella has stayed in place perfectly ever since! Very Satisfied with this product.

Great product
Bag is great. We put it in place just before record storms this past week. Not a problem. Nothing moved and nothing got damaged. Bag, fillled with 50 pounds, keeps the umbrella base in place as desired. Great product!

Exactly as expected
It's a little awkward getting the sand in and it's hard to fill very full, but it does the job just fine. I'm curious to see how many seasons it lasts (we've only had it for a millionth or 2), but it seems pretty durable so far.

Does what it says!
This is absolutely worth the money. We bought a 10ft round cantilever umbrella that had crossbars at the bottom. The crossbars were intended to be fixed to the deck. We didn’t want to do permanently attach it. We bought 100lbs of play sand and it fit in well. In fact, my kids (13 and 9) filled the bag.

... bought this for an umbrella that we got a great deal on
I bought this for an umbrella that we got a great deal on, but never were able to use as it would always tip over in the wind. New Tan Patio Umbrella Offset 10' Hanging Umbrella Outdoor Market Umbrella D10 This is the umbrella and without any wind it was fine, but when we had it open with any slight breeze, it was ready to tip over. I purchased this and some bags of sand, the description said it could hold 100 lbs of sand, but I only put 2 bags of sand in it. It was hard to fill the base full as the opening is oddly placed. It would have been better to have the opening at one of the ends on top, but I imagine the location is to keep it from stressing the Velcro so that it doesn't pop open. Other than it being difficult to fill it once it was almost full, it is a wonderful product and our umbrella has been used quite a few times without it tipping over any more. I have even left the umbrella open and it still is standing upright. If you ever purchase an umbrella that has a similar base to the one that was linked, I would suggest purchasing this base and get 2 bags of sand to fill it.
