It is our favorite puzzle so far

This puzzle keeps my 20 month old daughter entertained for up to 45 minutes. (Which is forever, in toddler minutes). It is our favorite puzzle so far. Very simple to use. I actually did not show her how to use it. She figured it out on her own, which is part of the learning process. Relatively safe. The magnet on the poles cannot be easily swallowed. However, I would still caution to supervise kids around magnetic toys. I agree with those who say, it would have been nice to have a picture under each puzzle piece. However, this toy was worth it regardless. My solution was to trace each puzzle piece on a piece of paper and add my own sketch of each animal. It works for us. In the future, I plan on adding the color words on the inside, so she has to match the pieces to the words.

Our family loves these

Both my 2 and almost 4 yr old love to play with these puzzles. I love that there is a good variety of sea animals and bugs so that the kids can learn the different types. Using the "wands" with the magnets on them is good practice for their motor skills and also makes doing the puzzles more fun. The pieces are made of nice light wood so each piece is easy to pick up with the magnets. The colors and quality of the puzzle are exceptional! We love all of our Melissa and Doug puzzles! We even got one as a gift from a friend that was just like these magnet ones, and it was a Cinderella theme. I would highly recommend these for your young kids or as a gift for a little one!

A hit in this family, especially the almost 3yo...

My son will be three next week and he absolutely loves them. They're sturdy and the magnet catchers work great. The only thing I'm not too fond of is that while most of Melissa and Doug puzzles have the drawing of the puzzle piece underneath, these don't, so it requires a little extra maneuvering to get them back into their slots, this is not a major deal breaker, but might sway some from buying it. These were Christmas presents last year for our now three-year old and may very well be her favorite of all her toys, puzzles and games. Both the fishing and bug-catching puzzles use magnets to "catch" the puzzle pieces. These continue to be fun for our little lady as she first was enamored by the "magic" that magnets can add to her adventures. Having played with these for over a year now, she still loves to catch the bugs and fishes; however, she has taken it to the next level by calling out the piece she caught. To her credit, she is now able to say "sting ray," "squid" or centipede" which far exceeds her daddy's expectations. Just another outstanding product by Melissa & Doug who are at the top rung of the child development toy market for good reason.

Love these puzzles

I have bought a few of these sets, to keep for my children and also gift to others. My children and my other kiddos that I have gifted these to just love to sit and try and catch the piece. Its great quality and affordable

A must have!

This is a must have! My daughter (13 months now) got this a month ago, and since then she is playing with this every day - taking it out from the shelf and sitting by herself for 15 minutes, calling me only to put the pieces back in place:)) She mastered catching the bugs/fish really fast, now we're learning to put the pieces back in place... Also this toy is great for learning the names of the insects/ sea creatures... After reading different reviews I worried about the quality, but the product is sturdy. Also, no small elements to pose a chocking hazard.

Amazing Puzzles!

My 2 year old twins absolutely love these puzzles. First off I am glad it came in a set of two, that way they each have one to play with. This puzzles helps with hand/eye coordination, and deifnitely with fine motor skills. My twins enjoy playing with this puzzle over and over again. It is definitely a must have for any child who enjoys puzzles. The colors are very bright and vibrant on these puzzles, and the magnets work great. We will definitely be purchasing more Melissa and Doug Magnetic Puzzles.

Keeps the kiddos entertained

My 3 yr old loved these! I trust the Melissa & Doug brand as I have been buying their toys for over 10 years. I had read that the quality of their products have gone down since 2008 so I was apprehensive about this purchase but I haven't found that to be true in this product or, really, and of the Melissa & Dough products I've bought recently.

Hours of fun!

We bought this for our daughter as part of her one year birthday gift and I have found myself playing with a lot too. I love Melissa and Doug toys especially because they are wooden, so no plastic toxins which is a huge plus. Also they are very durable and provide hours of thinking fun. Our daughter learned quickly how to go fishing on her own. She is able to do both puzzles pretty quickly now that she has the pole under control. We go on nightly fishing dates and have so much fun watching her little brain work and it's great for hand eye coordination. There isn't a Melissa and Doug toy yet that disappoints. This one will definitely continue to get a lot of good use probably for a couple of years. It was way worth the $10 sale price we got it for

2 year old loves it

Got this for our 2 year old's birthday. It's pretty well-made. Son loves fishing for either the bug or sea creature puzzle pieces. He also likes using the poles to attach to the stove, dishwasher, fridge. He and I both prefer the fishing pole than the net. The fishing pole is just easier to handle. It's nice finding a toy he really likes that doesn't require batteries. We started having whatever adult was playing with him fish the items back into the puzzle for him. He has now started doing that as well. So he'll remove them and return them using the pole. It takes a lot of patience, but he'll do it sometimes. Only down side: sometimes he uses the poles like nunchucks.
