My favorite work shorts
Best shorts I have ever owned. I'm a slightly stalky plumber, 5'10" and 200# with short legs. Carhartts always seemed to run tight, not just the waist, but too tight all around. These fit well, but I usually wear a 34 and the 36s fit me better. but I have a pair of each. I can move well in then, crawl/squat etc and they feel great. These are the most durable shorts I have ever had, I do rough plumbing, and carry stuff in my pockets. the edge of the pocket is double thick, so my tape measure doesn't hurt the shorts, and the lower right pocket is just right for a level or pair of pliers.

The Call it Work Wear Because it Works...
These shorts (along with Carhartt canvas or twill pants) are a staple in my world. I've quit the fashion shorts - no reason to bother with Quicksilvers, North Face or whatever - a pair of these will outwear 2 pairs of most anything else at a much lower price point, and are so comfortable after a few washings that I'd dig through the drawer to find them. The waist is true to size (no 'vanity' inches here), and the length just says 'we set the standard, not follow the herd'. Cell phone pocket is a real bonus. Back in the day I used to wear Patagonia Stand Up shorts, but at $59 that's a thing of the distant past.

Great Shorts With the Waist in the Correct Location
Carhartt is wonderful. Forget Old Navy and similar trash. These shorts are what you really want. They last forever. The waist is...at the waist! Where it's supposed to be. They won't cut you in half because they hang too low. The look much better than hippie shorts that cling to your hipbones. I would say the shorts are a little bigger than the measurements say, but that's normal these days.

Well constructed
Super durable shorts, I've been wearing them in the shop everyday for weeks with half a dozen washes and they're hardly broken in yet. It has a hammer loop which I thought looked pretty corny so I just cut it off with a scissors. Waist runs small! 34 is more like a 32-33. They do stretch somewhat in the waist as you wear them after washing but not much. Perfect work short and a proper length and cut without looking like an idiot like many of the baggy 'gangsta' prison yard work shorts that Walmart sells.

Another Home Run from Carhartt
My husband loves these shorts! They are great for him to wear while doing all of his chores around the house and hardware store runs. He wears the Carhartt pocket t-shirts and we find them to be quality and these shorts stack up the very same. These wash up nicely and have held their color. We are ordering two more pairs!

VERY good shorts - durable and stylisj - Carhartt strong!
These shorts are really fantastic - sturdy as you'd want them to be, but not as thick and stiff as the Carhartt canvas duck shorts. VERY durable nonetheless, and a bit more breezy and loose in the thigh and crotch. A terrific fit overall. I've owned the other, classic Carhartt shorts for years (and still do,) and absolutely love them, but was feeling that the length (well above the knee) was getting a bit dated. Tried these, and absolutely loved them. No major "cargo" pocket look, as the pockets on these are slim and subtle, yet very handy when needed. They look great with a tee shirt while working or hiking, and equally great with a button down summer shirt or polo. Really nice, well made, durable shorts that I expect to last a long time. Highly recommended.

Really nice shorts. Light but strong
Really nice shorts. Light but strong. Doesn't shrink and won't stretch out as you are wearing then during the day. I really like the cut, the length, not oversized in the butt and thighs and not too wide at the bottom. I like the two different sized pockets for cel-phone although I don't like carrying a phone at that part of my leg. Am still wondering why so many "carpenter" pants and shorts have the hammer holder on the left side? My wife tells me not to get them dirty they are so nice. So I bought another pair, and another pair that are duck, much heavier. All are good shorts.

Durable & nice fit
Got these for my husband who works outside on our homestead. He goes through pants & shorts like you wouldn’t believe. These are durable and lasted him through the summer without a problem. I like that he can wear these out in public too. They dress up well

Tend to be a snug 32 or more comfortable 33...
Based on another review for this short someone with my waist size said they got a 34 for the best fit. The 34 sort of hovers around my waist but never droops or puffs out in the front. So it fits but more of a loose fit style that goes to about mid knee with room for any thick thighed gentleman. I liked this short so much (even my Note 3 fits in the side leg pocket) that I got another color in the 33 for slimmer fit. Gonna try the looser fitting 34s as MTB short with chamois shorts underneath. UPDATE: The 33s fit PERFECT with slim fit all the way around (waist, thighs) but NOT tight. I'm 6ft / 180 pd and athletic build for reference. I also expect no shrinkage after washing as I noticed none in the 34s above.

Great shorts for work and casual wear
I have a 33 inch waist and bought size 33 - and they fit. In fact they fit well enough in the waist to be comfortable and wearing a belt is only optional. It's safe to say that these fit better than some of my dress pants which cost a lot more. The fit in the seat and legs is roomy and comfortable without looking like you've purchased too large a size. I bought 4 pairs and can feel OK about tossing the worn out pairs of shorts I thought I'd never be able to replace with something that fit and looked OK..
