Good tool for enlarging a drawing onto a canvas
They are very easy to use once you have a full understanding of their function. I would recommend watching YouTube videos on enlarging drawings with proportional dividers to better appreciate their use.

Great Little Helper
Still trying to get the hang of this wonderful tool. It is very well crafted even though it is a light-weight plastic. It does work well as far as the mechanics of the tool. I am glad I bought it. I need all the help I can get as far as proportions go. Attached is a picture I did in pastels of my cat. I used the tool to keep the head and ears, etc. in proper perspective.

You must have this tool!
How come no one told me about this tool the whole time I as in art school!? This tool is perfect for taking an exact measurement and transferring it as a larger size. It is already helping me draw heads using the Loomis Method. The proportional divider has a removable tab that locks the proportions in place. Simply measure the object's length/width/height within the pointers on the small side and use the larger size on the other end as your guide to how long/wide/tall the object should be.

Plastic but works great.
It is plastic but it works great. It has a guide for 1:1, 1:2, etc. The price is not great for plastic but is very good for a divider. I had another one (same kind) and lost it so this time I ordered two. So wouldn't you know as soon as they were delivered I found the lost one. That's the way it goes.

Perfect product
Excellent edition of an ancient (and remarkably simply) device. A child could make one with two popsicle sticks, but this one's much nicer. As to the "how do you adjust it" questions, there's a link in the Amazon Customer Q&A's to a short video, but I'll add this note to it: In addition to the thumb-operated holder and the peg itself, there is a transparent washer between the peg bottom and the divider arm. Be sure to move it, too, when adjusting. (If you don't, there will not be sufficient friction to hold the arms in place.) Also, there are how-to-use instruction rolled up in the shipping tube, including a chart showing which holes yield various ratios. With this device, there's no excuse for wrong proportions in your sketches. (Now, if I could just find something to do a proper job of shading . . . .)

Buy it. No regerts. Lol
This tool has totally transformed my wife and my art. Such a simple powerful tool. This cuts all the guess work and creates a great foundation to build upon. There are some YouTube tips in how to use. Worth every penny.

But really it was pretty simple, and useful
I am not mathematical by any stretch of the imagination, but I wanted to be able to gauge if my paintings were in the correct proportion, and this device really helps. At first I thought, oh boy something to have to figure out how it works. But really it was pretty simple, and useful. Now most of my portraits are correct, and still life doesn't have the strawberry bigger than the apple.

2 sticks works fine
Ok, so I was in a fancy pants art store and they wanted 400 dollars for one of these made of metal. 400 US Dollars...for me just drawing faces and sketches it works very well. Light, accurate, be careful with it, it is plastic. 400 dollars to two sticks....maybe I wont be drawing the bridge that may be built but comeon...

This has been a a GREAT instrument for oil painter's everywhere! I've wanted one for a long time ......and now that I have one, I'll use it to perfect my measurements with my "other tools & knowledge on proportions of subject/space/depth". Thanks Accurasee--now that I can paint in 3D & truely make-it--believable!

The best tool for getting it right.
This tool has made my new drawing hobby fun. It's so helpful in mapping out proportions and simple to use. I've only been drawing for 3 weeks and I used the divider to map this eye out before stippling it. Anyone can benefit from this tool.
