I ordered this item (as opposed to others on the site that were less), due to the same day shipping. It was a bit more expensive than the others, but I am thrilled we got it! The Toas-tite seals the edges of the bread, so there are no leaks (an issue we'd experienced with other products). We made several types of pies over a campfire (cherry, peanut butter and chocolate hummus, even put twix bars in one!). All were delicious. We learned that you must, must, must season / butter / oil the inside well EVERY TIME before placing the bread, or it will stick. And check it regularly if using it over an open flame. We also used it (in a pinch) to cook eggs over the grill, and it worked beautifully. Definitely thrilled with this purchase.

Absolutely LOVE this sandwich grill. Brings back great memories of a drive-thru in Billings, Montana that serves "flying pizza burgers". Bought this to re-create those flying pizza burgers at home, and they taste just like the drive-thru's! Great product - love it!

In 1970 my grandmother bought a cabin on the north shore of Lake Tahoe, had a fireplace put in and purchased a toast-tite from a local hardware store which she kept hanging on the brick wall of the fireplace. My sisters and I spent every winter break, spring break and a good chunk of summer vacation with my grandma and we LOVED Tahoe and that cabin. One of our favorite things to do was make sandwiches and pies in the fireplace or on the gas stove in the kitchen. Long before I knew what a Panini was, we were creating little sealed flying saucer shaped ham & cheese, salami, pizza sauce & cheese, fish stick & tarter sauce, sausage & scrambled egg sandwiches- Yummy little slightly crisp, golden brown sandwiches with perfectly melted cheese. It only took a couple of minutes for each one and we could easily make enough to feed all four of us in a short while. My grandma would use blackberries or peaches with a little butter, sugar and corn starch to make pie filling, we'd make dessert pies using white bread. They were divine and tasted extra good because we made them ourselves. I've always loved those memories and many times thought about getting a "pie iron" like my grandma had. I finally got one and it did not disappoint. I seasoned the inside with a few very light coats of peanut oil the night before I used it for the first time and used just a wee bit of cooking spray when making sandwiches. I tried it out on my induction stove top, it worked perfectly and took a little more than a minute for each side. This will be fun to use in the backyard on my little Weber Q and I might even use it on my little emergency butane stove during a power outage. I don't go camping any more, but it will be fun for beach fires too. LOVE IT♥ ps it's very sturdy and well-made, the quality is fantastic. The retro packaging is cute. Next time I use it I will come back and post some photos.

This is the coolest sandwich maker ever! I have a video for it on my Youtube channel and I just love how unique and easy it is to use. If you follow the instructions you will not have issues with bread sticking to the pan, or sandwiches not being sealed right. The horror stories on here scared me, but Im glad I bought it, I didnt experience any of the issues mentioned!

I really like this pudgy pie maker better than the square ones. The bread fits in so much better and the aluminum is easier to clean. It worked very well camping this year. Very pleased with our purchase.

I was reminiscing about my childhood food favorites with my wife when I remembered the grilled cheese sandwiches my mom made. In trying to explain the sandwich maker, I looked on line for a photo. Serendipity! I saw the Toas-Tite and bought it immediately. Delicious grilled cheese.

When I was a boy in the 1950's, my parents bought a toast tite which my sister and I loved. My mother gave it to me when I moved out on my own. When I had a son and daughter, they enjoyed making "flying saucer" sandwiches as they grew up and, after they graduated college and left the area to work, a must on their visits home was to make "flying saucer" sandwiches. I was perplexed as to how my one toast tite should be handed down to them. Then I saw an article in my local paper and my problem was solved. I bought one for each on amazon.com and they were thrilled. Now they don't have to wait until I pass away and fight over my one toast tite. Pat

Great, high quality. Just like what I remember my mom using. Seller was easy to work with and the shipping was fast. Handle on mine is just over 10 inches, good enough for what I'm using it for. If you're going camping with it often, i'd go with the longer handle.

We used to make grilled cheese sandwiches in these Toas-Tites when we were kids. My grandmother had them and I still have one from her. We ordered this one and it is almost identical, just a bit lighter. The new one functions the same as the old slightly heavier one. The shorter handle is good for the cook top as this one is. The longer handle is for campfires so you don't get burned.

My parents had one when growing up. One day I was thinking of how I wanted a grilled cheese sandwich like back in the day. So I searched, found, received, used and was not disapointed.
