This is my first hedge trimmer. I knew I wanted a battery powered trimmer to get to my entire property without hundreds of feed of extension cords or the noise of a gas engine. But I was concerned about the power of a battery powered trimmer. If it can't handle anything but leafy little twigs, it will end up being an aggravation to me because I'll have to drag around a manual lopper for the bigger branches. I was shopping the big brand names, but was intimidated by their price. So I put off the purchase. Then I was visiting a friend and noticed that he had an 18 volt B&D hedge trimmer. An old one. I asked him if I could borrow it for a test drive that afternoon. He agreed and I was impressed with the size of branches it would cut. The battery wore down quickly when I got into anything bigger than 5/16" but I figured the 20 volt model would improve on that. I bought it and was not disappointed. I know I annoy my neighbors with my gas powered tools. With this, they didn't even know I was at work in my yard. It cut through branches 3/8" with little difficulty. The battery lasted a long time too. AND since I also have a B&D 20 volt drill, I have an extra battery to extend my work time if I need it. All the tools in the B&D 20 volt line can share batteries. And this is SO much lighter than a gas powered trimmer! That may not seem like much for a quick shaping of a single bush, but when you're going to be at it for HOURS, this makes a big difference to my shoulders.

This hedge trimmer is very light and powerful. I thought about maybe getting the 40V instead but I went with this 20V and it does everything I wanted to do. I've got overgrown English Ivy on the ground that has grown so the thick branches are about 3/4 inch and the bush is about 1-2 feet from the ground. This trimmer cut them with no problems. The blade got stuck and it stopped operating when I tried to cut branches over 1 inch. I just took it out and cut it from the other side. This tool is highly effective in trimming ivy from the ground. What I do is run the blade from underneath the overgrown tangle of ivy very close to the ground and it cuts everything off in one swing. I then roll the cut part over and keep doing the same. Forget hand held pruning scissors and branch cutters. lol Youtube is wrong on this when I searched for how to get rid of English Ivy. Maybe some people have too much time on their hand but with this trimmer I'm going 20 times faster.

I have to admit I was a bit hesitate to buying this product because power by a lithium Ion battery, but man this machine really surprised me. This product did a fantastic on property and I'm looking forward to doing more yard ^^

Talk about great! I don't normally leave comments but this is so much easier than a electric trimmer with a cord and so much lighter weight than a gas powered motor trimmer too! I've been through them all! This battery lasts a good hour if not more and I'm cutting the whole time!

I live in the Pacific Northwest. That means that I have uninvited blackberry vines on my property, lots of them. This rechargeable hedge trimmer is an amazing tool to deal with the constant frustration of keeping blackberry vines from swallowing our home. The charge on the battery lasts from 30 to 45 minutes, depending on how hard I'm working. I have two additional batteries, and generally go out armed with all three. By the time I've drained them all, I generally want to rest my arms. The trimmer itself is lightweight and easy to direct- I feel like I'm using a light saber to vanquish the evil blackberry empire! I wish that I had one of these years ago, I'd be much farther on my quest to abolish the invasive blackberry.

Very light weight and maneuverable. Lose the cord and gain freedom. I used to have a corded version of this also by B&D, but once I cut the cord by mistake - oops. With this battery operated one, you no longer have to worry about cutting your own cord while shaping your bushes.

I bought this from a local brick and mortar only because the estimated shipping date on the product was too far out. I did a lot of research via Amazon and the large home improvement stores. I was a bit skeptical because of the amount of reviews on amazon but decided to give it a chance. Apparently, there are not many lithhium-powered hedge trimmers in the 20V range with this length that are close to if not under $100. I was surprised to find that it was more powerful than my electric trimmer. It was also very light and not having that blasted cord to deal with made cutting my hedge easier and faster. My arms are usually tired after cutting with the electric (holding the cord, balancing the heavy trimmer, making several passes because it would not cut well with the first or second pass). Not so with this trimmer. It cut through the shrub with ease and I was done in about half the time - no kidding. Again; I did a LOT of research before buying this trimmer. I never buy anything like this on impulse. I really cannot see the need to look any further if you want a trimmer for home use no matter how big the job. Highly recommended.

A lifesaver if you do much shearing back in the garden. I used large manual shears for years, but this cuts the time by more than half and doesn't leave me with aching shoulders. We have a huge garden and landscape and because of this trimmer, I no longer put off the big trimming jobs. I recommend buying an extra battery and the B&D fast charger, which is extremely fast. The battery lasts a pretty long while, but if I start my day with two charged batteries, I can work half a day without interruption.

I couldn't be happier about this purchase. I've owned B&D electric trimmers for decades, and they've never given me a problem...Except the inconvenience of being "tethered" to an electrical outlet, and stringing sometimes 3 extension cords together for shrubs a distance from the house. Not to mention that I've accidently whacked a few cords with the trimmer along the way. After reading in the reviews that the cordless version actually has surprising power, I ordered one. What a difference freedom from the cord makes! It is so easy to pick it up and go to the farthest part of my yard and whack-away! I used to reserve this activity for 3 or 4 times a year, when absolutely necessary. But without the encumbrance of cords, I just pick it up when I see some scraggly growth and get it done in no time flat! I even trimmed my parents-in-law's shrubs and the entrance to my subdivision. It seems to have all the cutting power of the corded version. The battery lasts longer than I would have expected...Matter of fact, it hasn't run down on me yet during my quick, 20 minute trim jobs since it arrived. Because I also have the B&D cordless blower for blowing out the garage and porches, I have a ready battery replacement when needed. I highly recommend this for personal hedge trimming!

I am an older lady, (or as some would describe me, a little old lady) I ordered the Black and Decker Cordless Hedge Trimmer and have been absolutely delighted with it. Prior to buying the cordless trimmer, I used the corded Black and Decker trimmer which still works, I probably have had it for 10 or 12 years. I got tired of dealing with extension cords and even with a cord reel I had trouble rewinding plus I didn't want to bother after pruning I simply wanted to put the trimmer away.. I also cut at least one cord during the trimming season.I am a small person 4'11 and weigh 101. The cordless trimmer is light weight and easy to handle. It cuts smoothly through even the thicker stems. It took me about 45 minutes to prune the hedges and the battery was still full of power when I finished. It uses the same type battery as my blower and weeder use. The weeder battery lasts almost an hour but the blower battery is exhausted after almost 45 minutes, I can interchange the batteries on my three pieces of equipment. That gives me close to three hours of power which is plenty for this 73 yr old to work in the yard at one time. It gets hot in GA. I highly recommend the Black and Decker Lithium Cordless. Trimmer.
