The Perfect Shower inset for Tiles

We recently had our shower removed and a nice new tile job done for a larger shower. The tile installers do not build the shower insets or shelves and so we were going to have to build our own shelving inside the wall once the old shower was removed. We stumbled upon this tool through a builder's website and found it to be perfect. The size of 14" x 16" allows for 14" studs and 16" studs and can be rotated 90 degrees to fit the stud spacing. It is a firm plastic materials strong enough to hold heavy tile and the installers were thrilled to work with it and it looks perfect in the new show and allowed us to install an inset in less than 2 minutes.

Great for showers!

I got two of these Tile Red niches for a bathroom remodel and the result turned out awesome. We covered them with limestone tile and put an accent stripe through the middle and the end result really made the bathroom "pop" If you are thinking of getting one, you might as well get two because these replace the need for those awful shower caddys or for putting shampoo bottles on the shower floor. The little space below is also nice for putting your soap, if I did it again I would have tried to integrate a soap dish into the lower portion for bar soap.

Best investment ever

Best investment ever. I'm thankful that I put based this, its way easier than making your own and having to frame and waterproof. I highly recommend this product to anyone. It fits right in between two normal placed studs...It comes with holes for screws, which made it extremely sturdy after putting 4 screws on each side, this thing is not going anywhere.

Excellent Niche!

I bought this niche a couple years ago for $64.99 and have been using it since and I am really happy with it. My contractor, who is very high end, even said that this was the best quality one he has ever installed. its made to fit right between two 2x4s so installing is easy. We have in it 2 shampoos, 2 body wash, and 1 wash and we still have extra room. The bottom shelf is great for a bar of soap and a razor. If I ever needed to do it again, I would definitely purchase this exact same one again.

I cannot explain how extremely pleased I am with this shower niche. The pictures below explain it all. The niche fit perfectly and saved a ton of time instead of building my own custom niche which would have also never turned out this nice. I will definitely be ordering these for any upcoming projects.

I highly recommend the 16x20 tile redi shower shelf! I've installed 16 of them, and my tenants love them. They're great for storing a lot of items in the shower, and also make an excellent shaving ledge for women. You can't beat this design for ensuring a watertight seal. Tips: Make sure that the bottom tile has a very slight slope toward the tub so you don't get standing water inside the box. Install the box sideways for an extra 4" of horizontal storage space.

Great niches, saves so much time

Have bought 4 now and they save so much time. They are waterproof and you tile right to them.

Works great! but remember that a niche is a challenging tile project.

Looks great finished. My contractor originally wasn't that excited when I showed him this because he usually built his own niches. Later he was very happy with it and said he would probably try to use them in future projects. Keep in mind that tiling into one of these and having it look good is an advanced project. A lot of time was spent getting it to all work right. Tile is a lot easier to work with on a flat surface. (One trick - cut down a 16" tile for the back of the upper space.) My contractor recommended tempered glass laid onto the tile at the bottoms of the shelves to make them easy to clean and keep soap out of the grout. These were cut by the glass company that did the shower door and seem to be working great. Two of these (1/2 his ,1/2 hers and one hers) in a shower stall would be best.

This is easy to install and looks fantastic

This is easy to install and looks fantastic. If you follow the directions, it will work. make sure it is flush with your backer board, silicone the edges and screw holes, tape the seams, and red guard the seams as well. Should never leak.

Perfect

Used in our shower upgrade, tall enough for the big bottles with pumps, installed easily. Turned ours sideways for longer and shorter shelves, used the back to showcase a mosaic, just love it.
