its not the best scan tool out there, but as far as bluetooth scan tools goes this is definitely the best Ive ever used. yes you can get more out of a professional grade OBD2 scan tool and pc software but you will also have to dish out a lot more money for that equipment. for any backward mechanic or DIY guy this little guy is all you need. some of my favorite features include data logging that allows me to save the reports i pull from someones car that way i can clear the codes, try to fix the problem, and see what pops up after the repair as opposed to before. i also am a huge fan of the suggested repair feature, its not always 100% accurate but it at least gives you an idea as to what you should be looking at, and i imagine this feature will get better as time goes on as its based on the most popular repairs that worked with the codes that pop up. the app is very user friendly, and i would recommend this to pretty much anyone other than audi and other VW group vehicle owners who don't plan on needing a scan tool for anything but VW group cars. for the VW group cars id recommend OBDeleven, for everything else id recommend this

I should've written a review for this along time ago. This thing saved me money. And I mean a lot of money. I recently bought a used car and this helped me weed out like 10 lemons. Ended up buying a car that was in much better shape for a really good deal.

Completely amazing is the only way to describe it I told two different OBD scanner is I own after I bought this item the blue driver has totally changed the way I diagnose my personal car and friends and family . It also fits in your pocket and takes up hardly any room in your toolbox . Before I bought this I had a big scanner with multiple different plugs and cables it took batteries that constantly were popping inside of the unit and making a mess . There is no subscription required you to download the app and start enjoying not to mention you don’t just select any vehicle the application allows you to scan your Vin number on your windshield or on your door and you get the exact vehicle with every specification about that car . I personally have to Chevys and one Ford and it works amazing on them I have not used on any other vehicles thus far .At soon as the application is opened it starts making contact with the BlueDriver as long as the BlueDriver is plugged into the OBD connection on the vehicle. Start scanning as soon as you press the button whether you were doing a full system scan or you’re doing a less intense scan . After you have input your vehicle if you remove the BlueDriver and take it to another car it will automatically find that car in your vehicle history and start scanning that vin number . Note When I removed it from the box there’s not many instructions on what to do to activate it you need to plug this into your vehicle go sit in your car because the unit has no batteries it needs a power source from your car that was just something I ran into you I found it a little bit confusing hopefully it helps you .

Works fantastic. Simple to connect and use. Does an infinite amount more than just read codes ! The smog check, mode 6 and live data etc function are unbelievably helpful. Being able to choose various Live Data such as oxygen sensor voltages at various rpms and engine loads is great for example. As well as short and long term fuel trims, MAF values and so much more...and then save and especially EMAIL and / or PRINT the readings is a FANTASTIC advantage over other devices. I own an Actron tool that costs twice as much and does most of the same things as BLUEDRIVER EXCEPT it CANNOT email my Live Data. And the cable is a major pain plus not very safe driving with a cable across my legs etc. BlueDriver's Bluetooth connection is much better ! I take Live Data readings, click email on my iPhone and can review them anytime ! Simple ! Customer service is OUTSTANDING. I've contacted them twice and got a fast, accurate response. They actually care. Imagine that ! Would really like to see my 2001 Nissan Pathfinder's vehicle specific advanced enhanced diagnosis information added and supported by BLUEDRIVER though. Rather annoying knowing it's there but can't read it all. My vehicle has tons of useful information that is Not Generic OBDII and cannot be read by BlueDriver yet. PLEASE upgrade the software to FULLY support all that great info hidden in my vehicle that I can't access with BlueDriver yet. Hoping that upgrade gets in progress soon ?? For example... this was part of a Fast, Helpful response from customer service about my specific vehicle... "For fuel pressure we do support the standard OBDII pressure datapoint, but the manufacturer may elect to use their own instead – in which case it would not be accessible until we add enhanced/manufacturer specific live data." PLEASE ADD MY NISSAN. Unfortunately Nissan has tons of useful info I can't read with BlueDriver unless they add the enhanced Nissan specific data. Hopefully sometime soon ??? Anyhow... BUY A BLUEDRIVER. YOU WILL LOVE IT. I've been working on cars since I was 13 years old. Over 40 years now and this device is really amazing for the price, convenience, features, emailing options, great customer service, ease of use etc etc. My sister lives 500 miles away but can Email me Live Data to diagnosis her car from my apartment. Unbelievably useful feature that much more expensive cable connected devices do not have. Only problem is I'm using a ton of gas playing around with Live Data etc looking at oxygen sensors, fuel trims etc. Hard to stop. I'm addicted ! BlueDriver almost makes you wish the check engine light would come on ! ( Almost). This can literally save you thousands of dollars and prevent dishonest or ignorant mechanics from charging you a fortune. I needed ONE cylinders ignition coil replaced that was misfiring. Dealer put In Writing that ALL coils needed replacement to pass emissions test. $1,400 !!!! I fixed the One bad coil myself in 10 minutes for just $54 ! Then cleared the codes and PASSED EMISSIONS TEST. Enough said. Just BUY A BLUEDRIVER and enjoy ! The reason for all the great reviews is IT WORKS GREAT. Amazing features for the price and customer service that actually cares ! Unbelievable. Now just add my enhanced Nissan specific data. PLEASE. Kind of annoying knowing valuable info is available that I can't read. Not BlueDriver's fault ! Nissan can be annoying sometimes. Thanks for a great product !

This is my 5th one.. They are quite easy to loose. I own a car dealership, I bring this guy with me to auctions, works amazing!! Super fast, can tell if someone cleared a code and how long ago. Full system scans. best obd2 portable out there. Just need to make a disconnect alert so I dont have to keep buying new ones :)

This thing really is worth the money. I've used it on a variety of vehicles (1999 Lincoln Continental; 2007 Dodge Ram; 2010 Dodge Ram; 2012 Ford Taurus; 2018 Silverado) and never had an issue with it. It's amazing how much info becomes available to you with this thing plugged in. Doing a deep scan of all modules takes a few mins, but the details you'll get in doing it can really trip you out. In one vehicle it even told me how many times the CD player had skipped in its life. In the case of the 2007 Ram (4.7L), it recently played tattle tale on a set of brand new Bosch O2 sensors that weren't working properly. Once installed, I kept getting codes for the O2 heater circuit, failure to go into closed loop, and muti-cylinder misfires. The attached pic shows the difference between the new Bosch sensors (bottom two; Bank 2), and a pair of new Densos (top two; Bank 1) during a cold start. Looking at that bit of live data, you can see the cold voltage, the voltage when the heater circuit kicks in, and the point where the ecu goes into closed loop. BlueDriver was very useful in not only giving me the codes, but in helping to confirm the problem. Peeking at the Long Term Fuel Trim also helped to clue me in on the misfire codes, as the high voltage from the Boschs forced the ecu to run Bank 2 super lean (-38). Replaced all 4 O2s with Densos. No more codes. **side note, I have no problem with Bosch O2 sensors. I think they're generally good and run them in other vehicles without issue. But DO NOT use them in Chrysler 4.7L** I do wish the app would update more often. I've had this thing for a year and only recall one or two updates. I was of the impression they updated regularly. Also, some of the suggested fixes aren't exactly super helpful. "Replaced Engine" comes up as a possible fix for nearly every code I've seen. HAHA!! I don't need that sort of cynical negativity glaring at me when I'm obviously trying to fight through an issue. I can find my own way to the basement thanks. Overall though, awesome product and app for the competent shade tree mechanic.

In my opinion most of this devices poor reviews come from the time when you had to pay for the app to activate features. Other reviews simply come from individuals not understanding OBII or how it basically functions. This app imo is awesome 1st I am a used car dealer I need a fast OBII that is accurate and that can do a basic scan of all vehicle to make sure the car can pass emissions and to check for trouble codes or pending codes when a check engine is not on. This does it plus so much more. Another import aspect is I need something small to carry around auctions. It gets tiring even carrying a small OBDII that has a cord. This is perfect it can fit in my front pocket & for rainy days I just toss it in a waterproof wristlet. Today I scanned about 50 cars nissan maximas/ altimas/quests/ muranos/ toyota siennas and prius honda accords, civics, odysseys, BMW 3 series 335 and 325, Porsche Boxster, VW Passats, Jetta, bugs/ Audi A4/ acura RSX and TL. Basically it scanned every car I needed it to. Now on some cars the extra features did not work but that is expected most handheld scanners cannot do certain advanced features unless you have a scanner specifically for Euro cars. And this is where I see alot of complaints from this device come in here. This scanner can do alot of things, clear codes, read emissions readiness and it's accurate it went against my 400 scanner and everything it read this thing registered. Except I noticed on this bad boy I can see when the last codes where erased on a vehicle so I can weed out those dealer cars that clear codes on their problem child cars as they enter the auction. Imo this device is a good value **UPDATE*** 5 Months later and this little devise is my best friend. It goes to auctions 4 auctions a week and probably scans at least 50 cars per auction. Its never been glitchy or wrong. Its also amazing on a carlot scanning a vehicle in front of a potential customer brings car selling to a whole new level they can see the vehicles readiness monitors. SO I have a 2nd one now just for the sale lot. I absolutely love this item and the quickness of scanning a vehicle. I can scan vehicle almost on the auction block if need be for those cars that just appear that you never saw parked in the sale lot.. Also for kicks i scanned a Maserati and it worked..Scans Mercedes c class to. I am pretty sure it will do a basic scan on any car with an OBDII port at this point

Okay, I have been sent two Chinese scanners to test. They are both okay. This however is MUCH better, and only a little bit more expensive! I bought this because I have been having intermittent VDC issues on my Nissan frontier. The slip light would come on and the truck would buck on dry roads going straight! Sometimes the ABS light would come on until I shut the vehicle off and started it back up again. I tried two Chinese scanners and although they are good enough but they only tell me engine codes, and weren't any help! I scanned my truck and it came up with 5 codes. Two were just flat tire codes, and three were important ABS codes that told me why my issue was happening or at least where to look! The codes were. Steering Sensor Left Rear Speed Sensor and Low power supply voltage. In reading through descriptions of causes of the codes, it brought me back to what I had suspected. When I bought the car with 77000 miles on it from Carmax, it was clear that they had cleaned the engine bay as it was spotless, which really shouldn't be the case with a car with that many miles on it.... I had suspected they might have gotten water into the ABS wiring harness. When I disconnected the wiring harness, I found there was in deed water in there, and also large portions of crud... I cleaned the connector with electrical contact cleaner and let it dry. I don't know that that will fix it as I need to drive it a while, but even if it isn't it was one more trouble shooting step, and since it is under warranty, when I take it to the dealer I know what fixes to look for, instead of playing the parts replacement game... It will also allow me to see if the items were really fixed after I drive it for a while! I am very pleased with this purchase! I would recommend this over any code reader I currently see on here for sale! The only thing I could see that I would need over this, is one that can re-zero the steering angle sensor! Of course setting the idle and stuff would be nice also!

This product paid for itself the first time I used it. I’m not a mechanic, might not even qualify as a ‘shade tree mechanic’, and I have no idea how to use most of this products capabilities. This said, I’ve used this device on multiple cars with great success. This product doesn’t just read the cars computers codes, but scans them, provides live data, mock smog checks, and resets codes (allows you to see retest results). It also reads your VIN number and provides volumes of information related to your vehicle. This includes any recalls/campaigns and Technical Service Bulletins (TSB). I learned the TSBs are issued to provide repair suggestions and info to auto repair professionals. The device connects to your phone or iPad via Bluetooth and accesses the internet via Wi-Fi or cell. In my opinion, this is what enables the capability most helpful to a rookie like myself. It doesn’t just give you a 5 digit code (ex P0106) and a description. It actually accesses a database of 1.5 million certified ASE repairs, and gives you the most common fixes for the associated code. This feature paid for this device the first time I used it. I had a P0106, MAP sensor, code on an Infiniti G37. Normally I would have just taken the car to my local mechanic when the check engine light came on, but now I used the BlueDriver. It told me a service bulletin had been issued for this problem, and the most common repair was actually related to an ECM programming issue. It turned out the MAP sensor was fine and my car actually needed an update to the computer. Unfortunately I had missed the window to have this done at the dealers expense, and I had to negotiate to have then do it at no cost. To me the device is beneficial if you: - want to gain insight before you take your car to a mechanic; - who’s to try and fix it yourself; and - if you want to check a used car before purchase With what I now know, I would not purchase a used car without using this first. While you can clear codes, many codes are Permanent. This means even if you fix the problem, it will still show it had a problem. Also, when someone resets the codes, it can take up to a week of driving for the car to complete all of the tests, and turn a check engine light back on. This device will show you, at least on my car, when the codes were reset, and if the tests are complete. This will eliminate buying a car and a week later finding out you have emissions problems. It’s also nice to know if your car will pass smog before taking it in and having the information transmitted to DMV. I can’t tell you this OBDII scanner is better than another, but I can tell you I was completely blown away by the capabilities. The other thing that is amazing is it updates constantly. The repository of repair info just continues to grow, and it gets free app updates on a regular basis from the Apple App Store. - one last thing: when I turned it on this week I displayed a message informing they were about to test ‘Enhanced Codes’ for Nissan/Infiniti, and asked if I would help beta test the updates. It’s amazing, it actually shows me anti-lock brake system (ABS) codes, air back codes, and down to even when my low tire pressure sensors detected a problem. I was a little confused as I researched and read reviews, and my hope is this detail will help others. Hope it helps

I downloaded the App from the iTunes Store (FREE) and installed it on my iPhone SE. The download and install went perfectly. The first test was on a 2013 Chevy Silverado pickup that had the Check Engine light on. I scanned the codes and the error was in the "Vapor Recovery System". I was already familiar with this error but the trouble-shooting guide recommended checking the gas cap. We tightened the cap, reset the code and the Check Engine light was gone and has not returned for one month. I leave the module plugged into the OBD2 port on my 2011 Mercedes GL350 (Diesel) constantly since I purchased the BlueDriver in June, 2017. I tow a trailer with the SUV so it lets me monitor the engine as we travel. I am a Mechanical Engineer that studied Automotive Engineering at Oregon State U. (1972) (Beavers) so I was not intimidated by the 70+ parameters that were supported in the logging mode. I love the real-time logging feature so I can monitor Engine Oil Temp, Boost Pressure (absolute), Fuel Useage(GPH), Boost Air Temperature, and Atmospheric Pressure. I am towing the trailer again this week with the real-time logging running, when yesterday, on hwy 93 in Idaho, the middle of nowhere, the engine dies! We miraculously find a place to safely pull off the 2-lane (no shoulder) highway and my wife starts calling our subscription towing service, I look at the BlueDriver app now that we are stopped, and I can now see a warning that the fuel pressure is low. I can smell diesel also so I know there is a leak. I open the hood, remove the pretty cover (so I can see what's going on), and I have my wife start the engine. I can see fuel gushing out, I yell STOP!! Thank goodness it's diesel as it is hot today. I get an update from the towing company and they will be there in 10 hours. I start looking for a broken fuel hose/connector. I find that the connector is good but the wire clip has come off the female side. I look around the engine compartment and I locate it, I retrieve it, re-install it, and put the connector back together. My wife re-starts the car, no leak, so we put on the pretty cover, cleaned up with simple green and a paper towel, and head down the road. All thanks to the BlueDriver that was plugged in, logging, and told me where to look!
