Great unit, works well as advertised. Wished you could record on multiple mediums at same time, but other than that, wish I had another unit. Little pricey but I have had no problems with it so I got what I paid for.

Amazing item.... easy to use and professional quality. I've had two CD recorders and this is much better.

I've been working with my new Tascam SS-R200 for a few weeks now. I must admit that I am impressed. I expected to be pleased, as Tascam is studio-grade equipment. It has a much sturdier feel than consumer grade equipment. I bought it because I like the idea of recording to flash media, rather than a stand-alone CD recorder, which tend to be plagued by laser alignment issues after a few hundred hours of use. I hope to get many more years of use from this very flexible device, due to the fact that there are no moving parts. The menu interface is pretty straightforward and intuitive; and I was up and running in a matter of minutes. I am pleased that I am able to choose to record to SD card, or thumb drive. I am also pleased at the flexibility of the choice of recording format: wav files or mp3 in various bitrates. I have tried splitting files and burning them to cds via itunes. Playback segues seamlessly from track to track without the slightest hiccup. This is critical for me, as I want no gaps or glitches between tracks recorded on this unit. Bravo! If I run into any difficulties, concerns or issues in the future, I'll be sure to update this review; but for now, I would recommend this unit without hesitation.

Great sounding recorder. Love the built in compressor as my sound guys in the Church always get good record levels with that feature on. Highly Recommended!

Expensive but worth the money of your wanting serious sound, works as advertised plus more, easy to operate, I have it at the end of my other equipment so I only have to push one button to record what ever I want quickly with out time loss.

so far i am very pleased with the unit

The service by Amazon.com as a international transaction was superb - even with paying import duties (You have to do this at time of purchase) still was £100+ cheaper than any UK supplier! Ordered on the Sunday from the states arrived Wednesday in UK. The product is quite specialist and 'the budget' model in a range of 3. Its application is really for studio use ideal for 'quick' recordings and/or conversion to MP3/Wav of audio input. I bought this after seeing it used at the BBC for speech/phone calls/ short series play. There is no onboard 'hard drive' recordings need to be made directly to USB/SD/Compact Flash cards (not Included)- -Compact flash cards are still my preferred media but seldom included on equipment these days. The unit is multi voltage so buying from the states is no problem works fine in UK (with alternative kettle lead!) - It is well built and of course compact - Im not a great fan of the wired remote - but in a fixed studio application it is fine. love the illuminated buttons. I would have preferred a green backlight display - the blue never seems sharp enough for me - but that is a personal issue. Great bit of kit for the right application - for home use it might be over complicated and other domestic items might be best - for gigging might be an overkill on the road - it seems in the gigging world Minidisc is still king! Had a SSR1 that quit after 12 years bought this to replace it operation is nearly identical to SSR1 but with the option of various media formats compact flash, SD card, and USB.

If you're into digital sound recording, look no further -- this versatile unit does it all. Just add a sound source, a digital amp output or mixer and the Tascam SS-CDR200 does the rest Records to (and from) CDR and CDR-W discs as well as SD and CF cards and USB memory sticks as well as "live" sources using either the balanced (grounded) or unbalanced (RCA) digital or analog stereo inputs. Copy from or to any any of these sources. Easily rips CDs as well as professional mastering of music recordings, dubbing from one source to another or simply playing every available digital medium. Versatile, use either the front panel, wired remote (supplied) or plug in your computer. Many more features. A must-have for the serious home or studio recorder.

If this broke tomorrow, I would immediately replace it with the same unit. You can't imagine how much time this saves me in the studio.OMG!!
