And I am glad it comes in 25 lb bags, I can carry them! (Over uneven ground, and especially on ice and snow, 50 lbs would not work for my knees.) I also appreciate this is GMO, corn and soy free. And that the feed looks like feed. I can understand that if one is raising a LOT of hens, this might be a bit too pricy, but as of now, I'm certainly happy to pay for the quality. And I hear nary a peep of complaint from my ladies!

I just received my Package of feed last night. Great and quick shipping. This doesn't look like the feed I usually buy which is the normal small pellet type feed, this looks like actual food. Grains, millet etc... sort of like, I don't know, actual food instead of little pellets. The difference is night and day between this and the over processed mush that I'd been using, not pointing any fingers at other feeds available here on amazon...But I've actually felt guilty feeding my chickens that stuff in the past. They had stapled a kindly note to bag that suggested mixing it half and half with my old food, which I did and my girls ate it right up! In addition, since I work a lot, it was great that they had great and quick shipping that arrived at my house in just a couple short days. For Urban Farmers with a small flock (I've got 3), this 25 lb bag is perfect. I highly recommend this feed. If we are what we eat, then we are what our food eats too, right? I would much rather eat this than pellets.

We have 8 hens and they all love the feed. I can't say much about the nutritional value, but our eggs are tasty and hardy as ever. I can definitely tell that our hens prefer it over regular feed. Once they spot the bag, they come running, which they only do if a have a big bowl of fresh veggies or mealworms for them. It is on the pricier end, but I think if you have pet chicken and want to make sure they get not overly processed food, this is the way to go. Would love to be able to set it up as a subscription item, these gals go through a bag in record time. Ours roam free so we are not worried about their supplements. That is why we sometimes too with cheaper regular stuff and switch it up with this or even mix them together. The packaging is sturdy and made out of recyclable paper, which is another plus in my books.

We've been buying this feed for our hens for just shy of a year now and they LOVE it! We only have a few backyard hens, but we go through this bag pretty quickly because they love it. I will say they do tend to peck around the barley and it ends up on the coop floor, but I've found that whatever does end up on the floor can be scooped up and tossed into the yard and it sprouts very quickly and the girls will eat it that way! Very high quality feed! I do wish it was possible to either purchase a larger bag or do a "subscription" order since we do have to reorder almost monthly.

Bought this for my rooster. Rescued him a year ago from a residential neighborhood. Full of mites and emaciated. Got him proper vet care and he is my buddy! Feed him only the best foods I can find. He likes this product although I thought he would not but what do I know? I am not the rooster around here! He gobbles it up! Prompt service. would reorder from this vendor

I bought this and wasn't sure what to think because it looks like a big bag of scratch. I read a few reviews which suggested it was scratch and not feed, so the bag had been sitting til I run out of my current scratch. I ended up going to them source, and this is what I found: Naturally Free Layer is a Non-GMO Project Verified and Certified Organic product. We use a blend of organic whole grains grown in the Pacific Northwest. Our Layer Feeds are designed to be the healthiest and most natural product available for your laying hens. While all of our products are soy free, our Naturally Free poultry feed line is both soy free and corn free. The grains are left naturally whole in this feed rather than highly processed into pellets. Ok. This sounds great! Less processing? Nice concept! Does it cost more? Considering this is soy and corn free, I say NO; it may be more per pound than other organic feed, but you need to compare it to the feeds that are corn AND soy free. Great product, and my chickens really like it. I did find that it is cheaper to go directly thru the manufacturer, so this is where my next bag is coming from.

My 3 cochise are city girls and very picky and spoiled. I decided to hang one of those circle metal hanging feeders and put this seed and layer product in it daily in their wire coop while they hid from the heat. They love it and I thought, boy, after they got fresh uncooked corn ears they'd never eat a chicken food again. I was wrong. Since it comes in a folded plastic bag in a box I'm going to need to get a tight lid container. Our sweet little country style city is home to some rat herds that would boggle your mind.

This is great feed. My flock has free access to two different feeds and this one is highly preferred. Unfortunately, it's also really expensive. I was able to find a local (sort of) store that sells me a 40lb bag of this product for a bit less than the 25lb bag on Amazon, so I'm doing a little better now, but it's still pretty pricey.

This is the brand of food I've fed my girls from the beginning - from their chick feed, to grower feed, to this layer feed. I'm very conscious of what I put into my body and therefore I'm super vigilant about what my chickens eat. I trust this feed and have never been disappointed in the consistently high quality over the dozens of bags that I have gone through in the 4+ years I've kept chickens (and my chickens haven't been disappointed either!). My girls have total free range in my large backyard, free access to this food, and I supplement them with sprouted wheat/wheatgrass and mealworms and the occasional organic fruit/vegetable scraps for treats (favorites are apple cores and cabbage!). They are thriving, my 4 year old layers are still laying the tastiest eggs with orange golden yolks that are bursting with flavor. I love supporting companies that in my opinion are a move in the right direction and doing what I believe is best for our animals, and us humans alike.

My runner ducks love this feed. They lay eggs for most of the year and this feed seems to help keep their egg shells hard. The texture of the grain is different than the typical mash I get from the feed store, but my ducks seem to enjoy this food.
