The only crimpers to use when using heat shrink butt connectors - protect your insulation!
This is an excellent crimper for heat shrink butt connectors. I like this set because all of the crimping jaw surfaces are rounded for protection against puncturing the insulation on connectors. Full disclosure, I use these exclusively on my own heat shrink butt connectors, which I sell here on Amazon - Choice Marine 180pc Premium Heat Shrink Butt Connectors -- the ones I use on my boat for saltwater / marine applications. I value the way the integrity of the insulation is maintained and how the ratchet allows me to partially clamp down on the connector so I have a hand free to insert the wires. One thing to remember when using these - the only way they release is when you've ratcheted them down far enough!

Very happy, for me excellent solution!
I am really happy with this tool! I know other reviewers have not been, but for me this fits my hand well and has made many 12AWG crimps for me with no issues. NOTE: For some of my 12AWG ring terminal crimps, the terminal will remain in the tool after the crimp is made and I have to "pop" it out with my fingers. Not a big deal, and the resultant crimps look great! I really like the ratcheting action. I am often able to hold the terminal in place with the ratcheting action while I am fiddling getting the wire just so before finishing the crimp. The "emergency" release lever is a little bit of a pain to operate, but doable with a screw driver or something else to provide leverage to pop the release. I think I only really had one issue when I used too large wire in a terminal. I couldn't complete the crimp and the tool wouldn't release automatically. I chalk that up to operator error...

Easy to use, but takes some hand strength. Good strong crimps
Not a pro and didn't want to pay pro prices. Used this today to butt-crimp wires for a car stereo install, more than a dozen connections. Worked well and crimps were strong like bull. I felt like a pro using it. Good tool to have because I can’t solder to save my life. It took more hand strength than I expected to fully crimp the splice, but could do it one-handed once the connector and wires were set in the jaws.

Great Crimpers!
I havent used these much yet, I bought them for a upcoming wiring project on my race car but so far Im loving them! I bought some shrink tube crimp connectors and had good luck testing these out with everything from 10-22 gauge wiring.

I bought these crimpers on November 24th, 2016 and received them on November 26th. They came in a blister pack and placed in a small box wihtout packing material, none was needed, it's a tool. I have used it for crimping insulated electrical blade connectors and the barrel connectors from the small reds to the big yellows and they have made a solid crimp each and every time. It makes a double type of crimp that is much more solid than the single crimp from the scissor type crimpers. I have used them in automotive wiring and in household electrical wiring projects and love the one handed operation and the solid feel of the resulting connection. The price was reasonable compared to other crimpers and the feel of the tool is solid making me believe it will last for years. These is no play in the working of the mechanism and it seems to have a high build quality. I am considering another purchase of this tool for my shop because I have to go to the work van to retrieve this one every time I need it at home. I am happy with this tool and will not go back to the old way of crimping with a cheap single crimp scissor type crimper. Pros: Solidly constructed A comfortable grip Solid crimps Reasonable price point Cons: None ***UPDATE*** I purchased a second pair of this tool for use at home in my shop and it works just as well as the first pair. Will never again try crimping wire connectors without them.

SO FUN. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!
These are addicting to use. That ratcheting sound. The sweet final smushy feeling when the terminal gives up and allows itself to be crushed to perfection. My life has improved by an immeasurable amount. I actively search for wires to add terminals to, and will go out of my way to repair the wires protruding from random strangers' houses. So what if I spent a whole work day making a custom leather sheath for this monster? Buy it, you won't be disappointed...unless you value your free time and don't want to solely talk to people about those sweet crimping hacks you've figured out.

is one of the best tool purchases I've ever made
I've been doing auto wiring the hard way for more than 30 years. I will never go back to solder and shrink wrap. This tool, with heat-shrinking butt connectors, is one of the best tool purchases I've ever made, and I've made a bunch. I've done a dozen or so connections and the action is smooth, the release is positive, and the joints are rock-solid. My only tiny quibble is that I sometimes have to pry the connector out of the tool after making the crimp, but that only happens with connectors that have pretty hard outer shells. For the price, this is a bargain and I find myself looking forward to using it.

Excellent Quality Tool
This just arrived on 4-18-17 and was the perfect crimping tool. Note the description says this will crimp up to 10 AWG but it crimped an 8 AWG Ancor marine grade lug just fine with no effort and a damn solid crimp on the wire and lug. Like other reviews mention there are no instructions and at first you may not realize you have to fully compress the handles to get them to release and open. Other than that instructions aren't really needed. The tool has a good quality feel and appears to be built solid.

Crimps Circuits Around the Competition!
THIS THING IS AMAZING. I cannot believe I never thought to look for one of these. I have been suffering for years using the 2-in-1 strippers and crimpers. Those things are crap. Awkward to use (hafta feed the crimps through the back half of the handle) and unreliable crimping. This machine can crimp anything quickly and STRONG. You can sit there and tug on the connections all day. More likely to break the wire elsewhere than the crimp. It's hard to get excited about crimping but I sure am now! Buying another one tonight!

These crimpers are the best in class and price range! Save time and headaches, spend a couple extra bucks on these!
Of comparable crimpers found online for sale, these are the best bang for your buck! Spend a couple of extra dollars and avoid the hassle of working with cheap, unreliable, poorly performing offbeat or generic brands. You will be please to find the outstanding quality and performance from these crimpers. They operated properly the first time every time, making rock solid reliable crimps every time. The heat shrink style connectors are not damaged by these pliers. There is an adjustment (which compensates for over or undersized connectors and different insulation / heat shrink thicknesses). The adjustment requires the removal of a screw and is very stiff to change. That aside I would rather a stiff adjustment vs something that falls apart. These are a must if you work with heat shrink connectors. Though somewhat bulky for tight areas, they work great. The ratcheting design ensures the same crimp every time! Even if they may cost a dollar or two more, you, your coworkers, and customers will gain from these time saving pliers.
