I bought these because I read a review that said he/she felt like a pirate opening the package. I wanted to feel like a pirate as well, and I am not disappointed.

Just as expected.

Exactly what I was expecting based on photo and description. Of course these are not world class gems cut by artisans but for a beginning jewelry maker like myself these are delightful! There is a good variety in sizes, shapes and colors. I wish there were a few stones in the red/orange family in my bag, but they're all unique and I got lots of gorgeous earth tones. Very happy with this purchase, will likely buy more and can't wait to use these! My photos were taken in natural, diffused, sunlight.

Much better than expected!

I ordered two packages to use in my jewelry making. Obviously, the price is inexpensive, and some have commented that the stones are tiny, so I wasn’t expecting much. Boy was I surprised! I’m THRILLED with what I received! Some are small, but definitely useable- but there are also some really beautiful larger ones. There are also several very nice pairs for earrings. I wish there was more color variation (blue sapphire, peridot, and the orange) but honestly I’m far beyond satisfied. Thank you so much!!!

Pleasantly surprised!!!

I figured I wouldn't get much at this price, but I'm very pleasantly surprised! The stones aren't calibrated to standard sizes, but I got at least 2 sets of round amethyst that are close to a color/size match! I got 3 large emeralds that are very nice. Update - I ordered another parcel. It has a lot more garnet, and other idly shaped stones. For the price I think it's still worth it, but if I could take away 1/2 star, I would.

Good for the money

After reading reviews I was a little worried about this purchase. Upon receiving it I was very relieved. Yes, they are definitely far from perfect, but for the price you can’t really go wrong. I bought these to practice setting stones and they’re absolutely perfect for it. There are so many different sizes and shapes I’ll be busy for a while.

NICE!

After reading other reviews, I expected there to be a lot more smaller stones in the mix. There were about 8 stones 4-5 mm, the rest were at least a carat, or more, estimated, I don't have a jewelers scale. There was a very nice, dark amethyst 9 x 12 mm rectangular cut (not emerald, there weren't enough facets under the girdle for that). The mix was heavy on amethyst, which is fine, as that's a personal fave. But there were also emeralds cloudy, to be sure, but clear emeralds are rare, and not to be expected in a purchase like this. There was also smoky quartz, including a 6 mm table cut, which I had to look up, having never seen before. Other stones included peridot, citrine, garnet, and a few very pale blue stones which I can't tell were aquamarine or blue topaz, but even professional jewelers can have trouble with that. Also a nice variation of cuts: round, oval, pear, cushion. As other reviewers have noted, the stones aren't perfect, and a few of the cuts can be a bit off, but again, perfection is not to be expected. I'll be buying more from this source.

great for the price

don't expect 1st class stones at dollar store prices. these are great for the price. i needed more stones to complete a bracelet for my self because i'm not using snap settings. yes there are some miss shaped, to thick of a band, to tall for mounting and included(i love them like that). but very nice for what you get. the last time i ordered these i ordered 200ct and got 202ct and this time i ordered 200ct and got 205ct. stones i have gotten from the total 400ct i ordered are the smallest are 3mm round and 3x4mm oval to the largest 11mm round and princess cut and 9x12 oval, pear and emerald cut. i will be ordering more when needed from them.

Beautiful for the price

You definitely get a random assortment, as people say. These are really lovely. You may received some odd cuts, B grades, gems with chips or cracks, but you will always get some seriously lovely stones. These are great for settings, practicing, or various other hobby things. You will get enough great stones to make some beautiful jewelry.

Pretty stones, DEFINITELY worth buying once

This is a nicely packaged order. When it arrived it was in a pretty little red see through Moroccan style bag,. The gems themselves were sealed well into 2 small plastic cups with clear lids. Not a terribly extensive assortment, but very pretty, and very satisfying. I got the following stones- Purple Amethyst, Green Amethyst (maybe??), Garnet, Smoky, Blue, and Lemon Topaz, Citrine, 2 Emeralds, and 2 of a pretty orange stone that i don't know... I do honestly wish there were an identification card for the types of gems, but this more than scratched my itch for pretty sparkly things to sort and catalog! I'll most likely be buying again!

Satisfied

Beautiful stones! Some with more noticable irregularities than others. Was hoping for a blue one, but didn't get any blue. Lots of red and yellow, some purple, green, gray and clear. Wide variety of sizes and shapes. I will use them to practice stone setting
