Life is a lesson. Don’t feel like a snail that some kid just poured salt on.
*This review is a story of me being naive in the shrimp boil world, but if you’re a first timer like me, it’s worth reading. I’ll sleep soundly at night knowing somebody avoided tongue death by learning from my culinary mistakes. I wanted to do a copy cat recipe of boiling crab (or any of those Cajun restaurants where they serve in bags), so I used butter and no water. What led me to this crazy idea was when I was scouring the internet for a low-effort authentic recipe, it all just seemed overly complicated and flavorless until I saw a comment on YouTube from a Louisiana Mama named Felicia B. Actually, I bought this seasoning because she recommended it in the first place. Anyway, this is what she said: “I live in Louisiana, and instead of putting shrimp in lemon water put the shrimp directly into the cajun mixture and cook. Than take the lemon and squeeze over or serve beside the dish. You will find the shrimp is juicer and taste better and the flavor is off the chain. try it!” *she then contributed a comment with further recipe details, which I will not paste here since it’s too many words* but it’s important to note that she did not mention how much Zatarains to use* Felicia seemed like a wise seafood boiler with many family secrets. Numerous commenters claimed they tried Felicia’s recipe and raved about how superior it was, completely stealing the show from the recipe in the main video. I wanted in on the magic. I read the instructions written on the seasoning tub and decided to put just a lil bit since I was using 2 sticks of butter instead of a bunch of water. Oh boy, a lil bit of this stuff went to Pluto and back. MAN were my ratios off. It was so salty I actually cringed and made a scene while I was alone in my kitchen. I was so excited to eat this, I almost cried when I rendered 3 lbs of fresh shrimp and turkey sausage inedible. I didn’t want to water it down with WATER because then it would become a watery, buttery mess. I also wasn’t going to let all this shrimp go to waste so I ended up tossing 4 more sticks of butter into the mix. I know, total waste. But it ended up being delicious!! The flavor really was off the chain, Felicia! There was just.. so much butter sauce left over that I couldn’t save because it was contaminated with peoples’ fingers. I couldn’t dump in in the sink and forever clog the pipes, I couldn’t pour it in the trash, so I doubled bagged it with produce bags so that it would resolidify. Then I threw it in the can, “THUMP.” So, if I do the butter only method again I’m only going to use about one or two teaspoons of seasoning per 2 sticks of butter. I’m going to follow the instructions on the tub next time and boil with water. Will update with which method is more delicious. About the product: When I received mine, it was 2 days past the “best by” date. Not cool. It smelled super stale and funky in the tub, but since the ingredients are non-perishable I’m not too bothered. Still made a delicious meal :)

Very easy to use
YES! I am not from Louisiana and am a total amateur when it comes to crab boils. I did a ton of research online, watched "you tube" videos and read a million blogs. I finally decided this was the seasoning to use. Our boil was INCREDIBLE and we were not 100% sure what we were doing. If you are not an expert but want to do a delicious boil this is a great option. It was not too salty or spicy - for us it was just right.

Puts a little heat into your crab boil
I love this stuff! Puts a little heat into your crab boil items. Makes the sweet corn spicy and good! Whenever I but spice in a large container. I always dump them into a vacuum bag and vacuum seal them. This way they stay fresh and pungent. And do not lose their ability to season what ever I am cooking!

Wish I found this years ago! Quick, easy and GOOD!!!
I bought this with the Pro Boil not realizing the size of these. Both are fantastic and have made seafood boils a least 3 times a month. I use the Pro Boil when I have company that doesn't care for Extra Spice, but both have great flavor. You will love how easy it is to make a Seafood boil for 2 or 20. I use 8 oz. to make a dinner for 10 in a turkey fryer and only 1/4 cup for a dinner for 2 with leftovers!

Very good crawfish/shrimp seasoing.
A very good seasoning for either crawfish or shrimp (haven't tried it on crab). I like the powdered seasoning much better than the Zatarain's liquid or the boil bags. It just seems that the seafood boil soaks up so much more flavor using the power. I like the convenient packages as well. I use 2 packages for a turkey fryer sized boil (6 to 10 pounds of shrimp, with potatoes and corn).

Peanut Boil, not Crab Boil
My uncle recently exposed me to the beautiful world of boiled peanuts. I use this spicy crab boil as one of the main ingredients to flavor the peanuts once they are cooked. Delicious. I am a huge Zatarain's fan already and, as a vegan, would never know the quality of this product without my new love of boiled peanuts. This case will not last long and when it runs out, I will not hesitate to buy another.

A Crawfish Boil Must Have!
This stuff is what you want for a crawfish boil. I use a little more than a 4.5 lb container for 15 gallons. I add a few quartered onions and a few lemons. Boil 1 minute, cut the heat and soak for 15 minutes. The soak is not an option in my book. I also use it for tossing the crawfish and veggies in if people complain that the creole seasoning I usually use is too spicy and I want to do a cooler batch.

It is what it is.
Not much to say. Love this stuff but isn’t sold around where I love so it’s freat to find some online at a decent price.
