The Range is Good and much better than another Genie pocket Garage Opener
I parked my car outside the drive way at night, so keeping the garage door remote in the car on the street is not a good idea. Last year, I purchased "GENIE 38501R 1-Button Remote" to keep it in the pocket. The range is terrible, as I need to be 3 feet away from the garage door to open it. It was okay if I walk to the garage door, but inconvenience when I need to drive my car to the garage. Finally I decide to buy this remote. It's little bigger than 38501R but still fit my pocket (I put it to the key chain). The range is much better. I can open the door when my car is closed to the drive way. The steps to program it is same as other major Genie remote. I'm glad I bought it.

Very good range.
This remote have a very good range. Before I bought it I was going to use a universal "learning" opener that in fact did pair with my opener but could not compare to the range or reliability that the genie remote had. I bought this extra remote after purchasing and installing the Genie add on receiver for older garage door openers experiencing little to no range on there garage door remotes. It also introduces features that newer openers have like code hoping and encrypted signals. For example mine was made in the 90's and has none of that. It got so bad that I could be standing at the garage door and still the remote would not work. I live a mile away from an Air Force base which use many things that are known to interfear with the frequencies that these older garage doors work on. Combine that with all the extra signal clutter produced by wifi and cell phones and you get an idea why for seemingly no reason your garage door opener seemed to work less and less reliably. I digress..... After installing the new receiver, I was extremely impressed with how far this remote worked from across the street (the receiver came with one remote but I needed two), even down the street! Keep in mind you can't just use this on an old garage door and expect it to give you that range. It only worked so well because I also installed the new receiver and got a keypad while I was at it. The whole setup ran about $115 excluding the second remote. Which is way cheaper than replacing the opener if it's still working well. The model number of the receiver is GIRUD-1T and after a lot of research, it was the best product for what I needed. Which was get to get the range back and secondly have a much more secure signal between my remote and opener that some hacker can't just pluck from the air and let himself into my house after I leave. It happens all the time.

Reasonable priced replacement
After the battery died in one of the remotes I managed to misplace it and decided to order a replacement. Of course as soon as the new one arrived I found the missing one. Keeping this one since we have four vehicles and a three car garage with a single and double door. I have to confess, in all the years I've used this remote I didn't understand why there were three buttons on it but only one opened the door. Each button can be programmed to open a different door if you have three single garage doors - genius! The only indication that you are pressing the correct button is a little green indicator between the red Genie logo and the bottom button that lights up.

huge upgrade over original 2006 garage door remote
Now that I have had a chance to use my new Genie garage remote, I don't know why I didn't upgrade sooner. It is so worth it. I have a genie garage door opener from around 2006 and had used the original clunky remote for the past 10 years to much daily frustration. It would take between 5 to 10 clicks on average for the garage door to respond, even at close distances. It wasn't until i accidentally spilled coffee on the original garage door remote that forced me to buy a new remote, and I am so glad that it happened now. The new garage door remote has 3 big advantages over the original remote. 1. It is much smaller and fits on my keychain. This is a big deall. Now I can carry with remote with me at all times instead of leaving it in the car, in the hot texas heat, which surely will be good for its longevity. 2. It has 3 buttons, which is nice if you have multiple garage doors to program. 3. It appears to have quite a good signal. It works from 3 townhouses down from my own townhouse (I have not tested it farer than that). If you have dealt with a poorly responsive garage door remote for far too long, please save yourself the headache and do yourself a favor and get an upgrade.

Easy setup!!!
Button a little sensitive but works great. Setup was a breeeeze!!! I have two now 😀 Update Dec. 29th 2016...... (For those not familiar with openers) I bought two of these (one a few days later than the first) and followed the same step for the first. That was a mistake. The first one I purchased became deprogrammed when I programmed the second remote. (Genie was very helpful and responsive). For a total reset of a garage door (FIRST REMOTE), press the button for a few seconds and follow the instructions for remote. For additional remotes purchased at a later date, you only press the garage opener with no holding. Then follow inst. on the remote. All in all- a long press is really resetting the garage door itself. So of course the first one will be erased lol

All good! Quick and simple
Took me longer to get the ladder out of the shed than it did to get this remote to work. I have a Genie garage door opener that is about 15 - 17 years old. I was looking for the single button version but apparently they do not make that one anymore and they are very expensive. Saw this one with 3 buttons and was cheap so I thought I would give it a try. I removed the white front cover on my garage door opener and found the little black button, mine was located on the left side, pushed it the light flickered red and pulled the battery tab out of the new controller and hit the top button 3 times and the red light went out and the door closed. All good! Quick and simple.

PERFECT replacement!!!
PERFECT! we moved into a house with a 1990's Genie ISD100 opener. everything was old and ugly. the one button remote was useless, would work when it wanted and the rubber button was melting basically. i called Genie to ask them what was compatible with my ancient model. the nice girl said any remote would work. Lowes has these but @ $32/ each. i needed two, Amazon was the cheapest (and quickest with Prime). 3 days later, i had to new remotes and programming was a simple as can be. Before my wife would have to roll down her window and stick the old one out the window about 5ft away from the door to open it. Now we can do it about 3-4 houses away. Such a quick fix.

Perfect For Our Purpose
Ordered this as an auxilliary, primarily for moving the snowblower to/from the garage. Our Intellicode opener is about 16 years old, original tombstone remotes are still working. Garage is wood frame w/vinyl siding, 16'X7 overhead door, double steel-clad and insulated. Programming was quick and easy. Most of the time was spent setting up the ladder and removing/replacing the lamp cover. Followed the instructions and programmed the top (largest) button on the first try. Total time about 25 minutes. Seems like a good balance between range and size. Range is decent on this unit, although our tombstones carry a bit farther. We tried Genie's tiny one-button model a while back, but range was lacking. This remote is much better in that respect. Opens the door from 150 feet or more, shooting at 0-45 degrees off center. Should work fine inside a vehicle, but it may not have enough punch for certain situations (ie; interference, signal blocking, off-axis reception). The rubber buttons are lacking in user feedback. No click, chirp, or buzz - just a mushy feeling when pressed. There's also a slight delay between closing the switch and activating the opener - about 1 second or so. Combined with the vague button feedback, this could cause folks to multiple-press before the door opens. Mash the button hard to insure good contact, then wait a second or two. Once you adjust to this "feature", it works every time - so no stars off. No such delay on our tombstones, though. We're quite pleased with this unit. Just remember that smaller remotes sacrifice power and range. If you need to operate at longer distances from a car, this is probably not your best choice. With that in mind, it's a good solution for short-medium distances.

Great Remote So Far, But You May Need to Activate Intellicode 1--Here's How!
My original Genie garage door opener remote had been a faithful companion for over twenty years, but it's single, circular button had literally melted to sticky goo. I had my doubts when I received this replacement remote because my Genie garage door opener is older than 1995--it was installed when the house was built in 1977. I had no luck programming it from reading the included instructions or watching Genie's YouTube videos. I was stuck until I read the Amazon user reviews which explained how to activate Intellicode 1. A few short minutes later--success! If, like me, you have an older Genie garage door opener, you may also have to activate Intellicode 1 to make it work. Here's how to do it: First of all, make sure you and others are clear of the garage door while you're programming the garage door opener. You don't want any pets or children around while you're doing this, for their safety, because the door moves rather abruptly if your programming is successful. It may startle you too, so be prepared if you're standing on a ladder so that you can reach the opener's "learn" button. You don't want to fall off when the door suddenly opens! All right, let's get down to business: Pull out the plastic tab from your remote to activate its internal battery. Choose one of the three buttons on your remote and hold it down for about ten seconds, until the red LED also turns green. Both colors, red and green, will be visible within the bulb. Next, push the "Learn" button on your Genie garage door opener. A red light will come on beside the button on the unit. Then, on your remote, press once and release the same button you held down for ten seconds just once. The red light on the opener will flash red rapidly. Press once and release the same button on your remote again, and the red light will go off. Press the same button on your remote one more time and the garage door will open or close, depending on its previous position. That's all there is to it! I like the compact size of this unit and the way it clips securely to my sun visor. The visor clip fits snugly to the remote, too, and should stay there. I've read some reviews that this remote is spotty and doesn't always work. I'll let you know how mine performs in a later review. For now, I'm happy that I have a garage door opener remote that works. Hope this helps.

Strong signal
We had three cars and two garage door openers so I decided to get something different for my truck to bring the total up even. My other units are the single button variety and I always had issues with the signal strength getting to the opener. Some of that could probably be fixed if I cleared the opener and re-programmed them but it was still bad enough that I would expect to have to be in the driveway before the door would start raising. This thing is great, even though I am only using one button. I turn the corner to the street I'm on (I live on the corner house), I can hit the button before getting to the driveway, put the truck into reverse, and fly up into the garage like a boss! I am very happy with this purchase. Who would have thought a weak opener could be so frustrating until you get one that's got great signal strength.
