This is my favorite cold compress. It is a gel so it never gets hard, so nice and pliable. I also like the material it is made from. It is plastic but soft. I can put this directly against my skin and it doesn't bother me. My 5 yr old granddaughter wants it every time she has a booboo. I have used it when I had hip pain. It stayed on my hip because it shaped to my hip and it stays cold for a very long time. I have tried others and they got hard as a rock in the freezer.I wouldn't be without it.

They dont sell these very commonly anymore, I don't get why but these are by far the best cold pack I have ever used. They are comfortable and easy to use. Throw it in the freezer and forget about it until you want it. When I am having a hot flash I grab one and wrap it snugly around my neck, the silky soft material combined with the cold temperature feels wonderful. I have seen other cold packs and tried them but the materials are usually a cheap plasticky feel or are too rough on my skin. As the pack becomes cool (not freezing) i leave it there on my neck and fall asleep, just shows you how soft and comfortable the material is. Also the fact that it is a gel pack maks it even better as once the freeze is off and its cold it conforms to your body where you put it completely. These truly have saved me and my parents numerous times from having to get the old school ice bottle

RE leakage: There's a warning on the back of the box (although not on the compress itself, oddly) NOT to lie on top of it. So if you are icing your back, be sure to lie on your stomach when doing so, if possible. I think it's also important to keep it stored flat, without folding (especially when it's frozen) because doing so could wear out the binding around the edges. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't have any of the issues others have had with leakage. I'm not so much concerned with the cost as I am with tossing a pouch full of chemicals in the trash, so I'll be sure to update if it does start to leak regardless of taking these precautions! As for the product... I remember having these in our house when I was a kid but for many years have been making do with bagged ice/frozen veg/whatever's on hand when my back needed to be iced. Which is frequently--I have a slight spine curvature that often leads to inflammation at the apex of the curve. I see a chiropractor regularly but will likely always have this stress point and have learned the hard way that not caring for it can put me out of commission for days! I was initially concerned that it wouldn't get cold enough, but apparently that fear was completely unfounded--I can't take more than 10min usually. This size is also nice and large (almost as big as a standard sheet of paper) so it covers my whole lower back, or my whole mid-back, so I can ice one section for 10min, flip it and ice the other for another 10min (it's still freezing!) and I don't have to keep moving it around or fussing with it to get my spine iced. Very pleased!

I ordered the large size and it would pretty much cover a shoulder. It's flexible and soft. This is my first new reusable ice pack in many years and I feel like they just keep getting thinner and smaller. Still, it works. Not as good as actual ice in a cloth, but it's nice to keep around the house.

I have a smaller cold pack like this but I was thrilled when I ran across this larger one. I love that it freezes but is pliable. Yes, the reviews are correct this doesn't stay as cold as ice because this never freezes completely. I just place this on my arm and place a hand towel over it to keep in the cold temperatures. You aren't supposed to use this for more than 20-30 minutes anyway.

I've used these exact compresses for years. They're great because even directly out of the freezer, they are easy to bend and place around my knee or my neck. They stay cold for a long time as well. I've never felt like Inhad to replace the compress before I was completely done using is. I highly recommend these!

This is a wonder of modern technology. Far superior to bags of frozen peas. I ordered a second one after my ACL surgery so that I can rotate them in the freezer. The cold lasts for about 20 minutes (the doctor recommended time for icing an area). Then pop it back in the freezer and it will be ready to go again in about an hour. Product states 30 minute recharge, but maybe my freezer isn’t cold enough, so that’s a reason I bought two. You want the large size so there is plenty of coverage to reduce swelling. Great therapy tool.

I LOVE this ice pack. After 12 surgeries on my back I have tested close to 20 different ice packs searching for the right one. This one doesn't get super hard when it feeezes, and also doesn't get extremely cold. It's just the right temp that you don't need to use a towel or any other material between the ice pack and your skin. It only lasts for about 20 minutes before it starts to thaw out. I have others that are super cold and last for hours, but everyone in my household goes for these first. My last one lasted 4 years before it finally sprung a leak, and I was super pumped to find them still on Amazon. I've since purchased 2 more to have as backups should anything happen to the one we have now.

“Intensely Cold” according to SO. It’s as good as ice in a bag, while other ice packs get progressively warmer, this one stays cold for the duration of ice application session. NO LEAKAGE issues as others have reported and this is after months and months of daily ice application while sitting directly on the ice pack (sciatic pain).

This is the second one I bought as I gave mine to a friend who hurt his back. Throw it in the freezer flat and it's great for lower back pain. Just put it in the back of your sweatpants over a tucked in Tshirt and you're good to go for 30 mins or more. Really helps lower back pain, but has many other uses. The outer fabric is soft and not so cold that you couldn't put it right up against your skin. I had my first one for years and it looked new. I would highly recommend this. Worth the price (which wasn't bad at all).
