I've always used Advantage II for flea control, but with two cats, it was quite expensive. When I read the mostly positive reviews of the Sentry product, I decided to give it a try, mainly because it is about half the price of Advantage. One immediate plus is that my cats tolerate the Sentry product better than Advantage. They would run and hide when I tried to administer the Advantage, and they would be lethargic and not feel well for about 24 hours. But even though they still don't exactly line up to receive the Sentry, it seems to have no ill effects. I've been using the Sentry for 4 months, and it seems to work as well as the Advantage. We are just coming into the warmer months, so I hope this product works during the height of flea season. But if it does, I will stay with Sentry due to price and fewer side effects. I have been using this product on my two cats each month for over a year now, and I wanted to update my earlier review. This product works great! It works as well, if not better, than any flea product I have used, and I highly recommend it. I live in Florida, where fleas can be problem year round, and neither cat has had any evidence of fleas since I started using this product. Also, they don't mind having it applied since it doesn't have the strong smell of Advantage nor the side effects. And the price has come down recently, so I can buy 3 boxes of the Sentry for the price of 1 box of Advantage. If that isn't a win-win, I don't know what is!

"Hartz Ultraguard Pro Flea and Tick Drops" made my cats back feet become paralyzed (it was a few months before I figured out that was the cause since it's not something you apply often), but this product contains a different ingredient, FIPINOPRIL (SP?), which *doesn't* seem to cause that problem. Ultraguard Pro seems hard to get now, so maybe they took it off the market for those reasons. I'm 100% sure it caused my cats legs to basically not work, with no other symptoms....it was very odd, but something I can only see a chemical doing. Luckily, like I said, this doesn't seem to do that. This seems safer than other products, in my opinion.

Second time I've purchased this "generic ingredient" cat flea drop. It seems to kill fleas much better than the name brand, which other reviewers have also mentioned (last time I purchased the name brand, last year, same ingredient, it didn't seem to work at all). At $13 for a three month supply (one month for me since I have three cats), this is a bargain as well. I'm glad this product fits any size cat as the small one is about 6# and the male is 13#. I have had to avoid brands that go by size in the past. I live in Florida so fleas are a problem if you don't get them under control right away. I did have an issue with one cat "not liking it" when I put the drops on him (he sensed me applying it and wasn't relaxed or pleased) and he sneezed several times afterwards. He did not do this the first time he was dosed. He was fine later but will monitor this as they are getting older (they will be 7 this year).

This product works very well but as with ALL flea medications, you also have to clean the pet’s environment for quickest results!! I’m a Vet Tech and this is the same active ingredient that’s in the original basic Frontline. This particular Sentry product will not kill eggs and larva, just adult fleas! Any Vet worth their salt will tell clients that they need to clean the home along with using a topical treatment. Live adult fleas are only a small percentage of your total flea population. Eggs and larva will be on your pets as well as on floors, in carpets, bedding, and all soft surfaces where your pet spends time. Vacuum several times a week (then empty your vacuum container afterwards and throw the stuff away outside every time!) Wash soft surfaces (bedding, pillows blankets, toys) and wet clean your hard floors. This will greatly cut down your flea population when you’re using topical treatments and will lessen your pet’s discomfort as well as decreasing the number of applications you need for your pet. I’ve been using this product for my cats (indoor and outdoor) and the dog Sentry product for my dogs for several years with great success. We have outdoor barn cats that bring fleas to the back yard from time to time and this product along with a little extra cleaning solves the problem quickly. Yes you will see fleas emerging after applying it (those fleas are dying) within hours. You can safely bathe your cats 48 hours after applying if you’re brave enough to give your cat a bath! 😄 Our 3 indoor senior cats (age 15) all get Sentry applied and do great with no issues whatsoever. Just apply it at the base of the head and neck area right on the skin (not on the hair) where they can’t lick it off. It’s much more economical than the big name products and will work just as well. We don’t treat year-round as a preventative because we have 4 children who pet and snuggle with our pets often and I prefer not to have chemicals on our animals unless it’s necessary. So when we get the occasional flea outbreak this is my go-to!

I live in the country and have 6 cats. I often take in strays and get them healthy and send them on to their forever homes. With so much wildlife and farm cats around its expensive to keep my cats flea free and current on their vaccinations. I am very protective of them since there are a lot of cats around that have never had shots or vaccinations. However, the expense is worth it. We lost one of our oldest cats last year who was 23. I believe that making sure my cats are dewormed, flea free, and vaccinated makes for a long happy life. I am thrilled with this product and have been using it over a year.

I chose to try this product because it is extremely affordable. We have four cats at the moment and the cost of flea medication from the veterinarian is prohibitive. One of our cats got out and was gone for two weeks. When she returned she was fully infested and our other cats began to itch as well. Within 24 hours of applying the medicine, I noticed all four cats scratching a great deal less. Within 48 hours they seemed completely back to normal. I would highly recommend this product. In fact, I am going see if I can add this to my subscribe and save items.

Until we switched to Sentry, we used a highly recommended brand name topical. Every time we put it on the cats, they actually cried out and squirmed to get away, and it wasn't pleasant for them or us. Decided to switch to Sentry and we can't believe the difference! We put it on and they just stand there patiently, not a peep out of them. Best part is...it works.

In my latest order I ordered two 6 month packets. For some reason I got a 6 month and a 3 month. I've never had a wrong order before. So I called. Tanesa was SO helpful. I was all ready for an argument especially as the packing slip was not in the box. All I wanted was to be made whole and get a three month packet. Well... I had the most wonderful experience. After listening she sent me two six month packets. I will say right now that their customer service is awesome. Great experience and I'll be ordering again... flea season... few cats... getting ahead of it this year. Thank you!

WHY are people whining about this product? Its an insecticide !! It MAY cause some irritation. A little hair MAY fall out in the application zone. The SAME THING will happen with Frontline. QUIT YER CRYIN !! If there is a little white residue on the fur, wipe it away with a damp paper towel after 48 hrs or so. If it didn't work for you, odds are pretty good you applied it incorrectly. Remember its the skin you are applying it too, not the fur. If you apply it to the fur, they could shake some off and not get the full dose. I am grateful for fipronil that is affordable - got lotsa cats. Thank-you Sentry !!

This medication was $64 at my local pet store. Price online is such a better deal, I couldn't believe it, but it's the same stuff. It works very well for my black little green-eyed cat, it was clearly designed for her because she looks just like the cat on the box! She's a smaller cat with long hair, and each application lasts about 6 weeks before I might start seeing flea dirt in her bed. I can't stand to keep her inside cooped up in my apartment, so this was a great solution to giving her outdoor freedom and not letting fleas reign over her coat. She's very cooperative when applying and doesn't seem distressed or reacting negatively to the liquid doses on her neck.
