It's built tuff - this is quality. It is easy and comfortable to use. I like that I don't have to peel fresh garlic. The little cleaning handle thingy nests nicely out of the way and after 'sploding two or three garlics it helps press the paper out for easy cleaning. I am only sad that I waited so long to purchase this amazing 'sploder device. The Zyliss is way to go. Much love.

Please note: I am no chef so I do not have extensive knowledge of many kitchen utensils. But I do love to cook with garlic and have used my fair share of garlic presses. One of the last presses I owned was one of those heavy, chrome-plated numbers with the big soft EZ-grip handles. It may have been easy to grip but it was a mess to clean, even after I peeled the garlic--which was a requirement to use this thing. But I dealt with it because, hey! it's kind of fancy and probably top-of-the-line, and cleaning out garlic pulp with a toothpick was just a fact of life that every garlic lover had to endure. Then it broke. And for a time we were reduced to smashing our garlic like Neanderthals. That is until *this* little baby went on sale. When I received it, it didn't feel particularly solid. But it was on sale and eh... I'm pressing garlic, not walnuts. I did appreciate at the fact that I didn't need to peel the garlic, saving me more than a few seconds of prep, fumbling with the garlic skin like I was one of those 'before' videos in late night infomercial. However the real fun came with the cleaning: using the red garlic peel pokey-brush-thingie, the skin and mess all came out in one fell swoop! Any remaining tiny bits were easily dispatched with the skinnier pokey handle-end-thingie! And this magical little item is always at hand as it tucks happily away in the handle, ready to be popped out in a moment's notice! You do usually have to clean after every clove--and I always use more garlic. But the little red thingie is always at hand, waiting to scrub away another sticky peel. Pros: - Easy to use. Time spent removing garlic skin would be better spent pouring wine. - Easy to clean. Let me say there's something aesthetically pleasing using the garlic brush-a-mabob and getting those little bristles into all the little holes. It's like the bubble wrap of doing dishes. - The brush-a-mabob itself! It lives in the handle. Such engineering! Save your toothpicks for picking teeth or garnishing cocktails. Cons: - It does feel a little... light? for lack of a better word. I do honestly hope it lasts for a good long while. I've had too many squeezing-type kitchen tools snap in mid squeeze. - Price vs build. It's priced the same as other presses, though it does seem to be made of lighter material. I guess I will have to wait-and-see. If it lasts more than a couple years, then i think it was worth it. - Cleaning after every clove. Are there presses that effectively alleviate this? I have yet to find one. Overall: It's weird but I really do enjoy using this item. Maybe it's because its the first press I've used that didn't need pre-peeled garlic? Whatever the case, it's helped make our kitchen a little bit happier. Anytime I'm about to add garlic to a dish, I actually announce it so I can draw attention to the fact that I'm about to use the press. I think it's starting to annoy my girlfriend.

This is a fabulous tool - how did I cook without it! Had the OXO version and only used it a couple of times - it was awful but I thought that was just the nature of all garlic presses. Then after many years saw a friend using this garlic press and "aha!" - the light bulb came on, it was the brand that was the problem. This Zyliss press works really well, easily presses out the garlic leaving only the skin and cleans up easily. Dump any other brand you have and buy this one, you won't be disappointed.

I bought this because a YouTube chef I watch (Sam the Cooking Guy) swears by it. I was a little skeptical on how well it would work without peeling the garlic, but it worked amazingly. Threw three cloves through it with no issues whatsoever. That of course leaves cleanup, which is also pretty simple! Just use the tool included to pop the paper up and take it out. Rinse with some soap and water and you’re good to go! Would recommend if you’re in the market for a new garlic press (or you’re just like me and want to be Sam the Cooking Guy).

I previously had a Pampered Chef garlic press that I was very happy with. After many years and lots of use, it finally broke. I didn't want to pay the price for another Pampered Chef press, so I researched different presses on Amazon. Originally, I ordered the MiTBA [ASIN:B01N2X9RM5 Garlic Press - Best Professional Stainless Steel Gadget By MiTBA. User-Friendly, Easy To Clean And Highly Durable. Silicone Tube Peeler + Cleaning Brush Included. Show The Garlic Who's The Boss] garlic press because it had very good reviews and was a good price. It did "press" the garlic, but I didn't like all of the moving parts and the garlic pressed out all over the place. I had used a Zyliss press of my daughters and liked it, but didn't remember the brand (at the time) and it didn't come up on my Amazon searches. After being unsatisfied with the MiTBA press, I found out the brand I had tried was "Zyliss" and did a search on that and ordered it. I love this press (even more than the Pampered Chef) and it costs about $5 less. It's similar in style and mechanics to the Pampered Chef, but it has a larger space to put the garlic. I also like the way the cleaning brush snaps inside the handle. Very happy with this purchase!

I love fresh garlic, got tired of dicing garlic because of the mess and how sticky it got my hands and blade. Jarred garlic doesn't have the same flavor as fresh. I'm not one for kitchen gadgets, especially one use gadgets but this is totally worth it. Wish the hopper was bigger but it can handle a large garlic clove easily, best part is leaving the skin on. Fairly easy to remove the skin and there's really no waste at all. Will buy another one if this one breaks.

This is the one! Not expensive, works easily and with one hand! I am not very strong, so ease of press was important. I was also impressed it did not spill out anything along the sides. I like to pack them full of 3 cloves. Zyliss did it again...(it has the absolute best hand can opener ever, we stopped using our electric one). So, because of that I trusted the brand and the bonus was this was less than another fancy stainless one I bought that did not work at all and was such a disappointment after so may good reviews it had. For me, simple is best! I am quite the gourmet foodie so I cook tons of fresh garlic cloves in dishes. This is your best buy.

this is hands down the very BEST garlic press I've ever used. my friend across the street had one and I saw it one day when she was using it. I tried it right there in her kitchen, told her I loved it, and next thing I knew she had bought me one! Love it so much I bought another for our motor home. I've used a ton of other garlic presses over the years, and they either break after awhile from the pressure of using it, or the garlic squishes out of the compartment it's supposed to be in, or some other icky thing. Not this one. It is the most superior design I've ever seen on one of these. I LOVE it!!!!

I purchased this Zyliss Garlic press based upon recommendations by Sam the Cooking Guy on YouTube -- he said that it could be used without having to peel the garlic cloves. It was a reasonable price so I decided to try one. I did not know that it came with a cleaning tool which attaches to the handle so it does not get lost like other garlic presses I have had. Smart design. Tried out the press for the first time the day I got it (after washing). It did exactly what Sam said -- put in a garlic clove with the "paper" outer layer left on, and it minces the garlic right though that outer layer. It also seems to do a better job at pressing out all the garlic that other presses I have used. Clean up is fairly easy -- just pick out the wrapper and it is ready for the next clove. Then when it is time to wash, the in-handle tool makes it easy to clean. Instructions say that it can be machine washed, but they recommend hand-washing, so I will hand wash it. With this press, I will likely stop buying those jars of pre-minced garlic, as this makes using fresh-pressed garlic much easier.

I have fibromyalgia which effects anything I do with my hands, like grating garlic or ginger, which I use every day in an Amish concoction for my hypertension.... this had been such a pain. After getting the Zyliss though it's a breeze. I pop two or three small cloves of garlic (only cut off the very tips of the ends) and then squeeze. The garlic pops out on the outer side and leaves the hull in a neat little packed thing so I can most of the time just pull it out in one go. Then to clean it I use the little red brush (mostly the 3 little prongs) the trick is to punch from the outside rather than the inside (which seems intuitive but doesn't work as well) A quick rinse as I am punching and then I dry it off thoroughly which doesn't take any time, then I cut a piece of ginger, use a spoon to peel it and pop it in the holder, squeeze and voila. Getting the ginger remains is not as easy as the garlic but it is still pretty easy. With the ginger punch the hole from the outside then use the 3 prongs to pick out the hull part, in most cases it sticks to the prongs. Overall if this were to break I would buy another one for sure.
