Works beautifully!! I let my cake cool—stiffen, really—completely in the pan before removing, otherwise it's too warm and moist to hold up to being cut and it'll just crumble and lose the whole thing. I baked a 4-5" inch deep cake and used this to make 4 layers, and the leveler was perfect in achieving it, I was so freakin happy with the end result!!! My first real cake tbh. Also real easy to clean with a wet paper towel.

I had a cake leveler before that I thought was great. It eventually broke. Then I purchased this one. So much happier! This cake leveler has a feet like base on each side, so when sliding the leveler through the cake it stands exactly flat. My last one just had a rubber stopper over the edge of the metal pole and it was too easy to angle the leveler when pulling it through the cake thus getting an uneven cut. This cake leveler works so much better! I can even trust my kids (ages 9-14) to help me with this task and know I won't have to fix it up. The sad part is, I didn't even know I was unhappy with my last cake leveler until I was super happy with this one:)

I was scared to work with layer cakes before because I fail miserably in leveling cakes. Ruler and knife just do not work for me! I can't do it! I decided to give this a try and boy I feel like I am an expert cake maker. It's so easy to use and it works perfectly. So far I have tried it on white almond sour cream cake and it has done great. I was able to do a checkerboard cake and I couldn't imagine pulling it off before. Can't wait to make more fabulous cakes! If you suck at leveling cakes, do not hesitate to get this tool! I promise you are going to love it! Update 4/24/17- I have used this cake leveler several times with different cake recipes and it levels cakes perfectly every time. I love it so much. For those who are saying that this leveler shreds cakes, you need to make sure that the cakes are completely cool. I always freeze my cakes before leveling. I usually make them days ahead, freeze then thaw for two hours before leveling. This method works like a charm. If you need the cakes the same day here what is you need to do after the cake comes out of the oven 1.) invert the cakes after 10 mins. 2.) cool them on a cooling rack for an hour 3.) wrap them in saran wrap and freeze for an hour 4.) take them out of the freezer and level. The chocolate cake I posted with my review is really moist but the cake leveler still worked. I didn't have a problem at all. I love love love this cake leveler and I can't live without it now. Goodbye cake domes and uneven cake layers!

Why didn't I buy one of these years ago? I bake a decent amount. Cakes are a big request. Yes, a serrated knife works just fine, but i didn't always get an even slice across the top that way. This just makes it so easy...and even! The product description says it cuts up to a 10" cake. I baked an 11" and it worked perfect...as cakes tend to rise and dome more towards the mid. Mine came in perfect condition, zero flaws.

This leveler worked very well for cutting the layer cakes that I make for specialty cakes. I have an original model by Wilton but this one "takes the cake" in ease of use. My only slight issue is if a cake layer isn't very tall you won't get even layers as there is a certain height you will start with because of the feet. It does glide through the cakes I use it for which may be because I like to work with a dense wedding style cake. Now if there is an storage solution for this I would love to find it!

I cannot level a cake or split one layer into two layers to save my life. I've tried many times but the results were jagged and uneven. This cake leveler is goof proof. I now have perfectly level cakes. Sometimes the settings are such that it doesn't split a layer exactly in half, but that's probably because my layer isn't as tall as it should be (I'm still learning to bake consistent cakes). I was nervous the first time I changed the settings--it took a little more muscle than I expected and I was afraid I'd break it, but I worried for nothing. If you bake cakes on a semi regular basis, you'll use this a lot.

I used to do a lot of cakes, and my husband had bought me some real cake tools. Then I really took notice of how much cake we were eating, and gave ALL of my cake tools to my Niece who was taking some beginner classes. She lost interest, and threw them ALL out. I had a cake leveler that would do a full sheet cake, and in the small kitchen it got to be a little unwieldy. But now I really miss that one. this one works very well, but it does not have the serrated blade like the old one, and the adjustments are easy to bump off. But it works great....Now to find the old one again

I always have a very hard time leveling my cakes with a knife. So i saw this and waa like why not? This sliced through my cakes so easily but do note that it isnt a blade but a twisted wire that is on this so if you are looking for one with a blade this isnt it but it will still get the job done

Product works as advertised. Cuts through like a wire, because it is one. But a wire with ridges that cut through the cake-matter (if that is a word) like a hacksaw. But unlike a hacksaw, it will not give you a hackjob. The cut is straight and does not tear (provided you have a straight surface that you are cutting on, this cannot be stressed enough). The height levels give you a click-into-place feeling to tell you it is at the right setting (and visually, you can tell if it is straight or not).

I read some people had problems adjusting their wire height and broke their wire. All you have to do is apply a bit of pressure on the end/sides of cutter itself and you will have no issue. When slicing if you take your time and use a sawing motion on your cooled cake, it works perfect! This is a great item and I highly recommend.
