Works well enough with Moto X (2nd gen) and pull-out cup holder
I have a Subaru with a pull-out cup holder on the dash in a good location for a phone, but wasn't sure any cup-holder unit would be stable enough. I gambled on it and the result is good enough -- it's not going to handle off-roading, but for normal driving it's fine. See photo. One thing to note is the adjustable base extends outward in two directions, not four (so it becomes more of an oval than a circle). This works out fine in my cup holder since I can extend it to the full width of the holder, and then slide the holder back in until it's reasonably snug. (Word of caution: I was careful not to extend the base past where it just started getting snug, as I could easily see it snapping my very lightweight cup holder.) Also, I can confirm the arms hit the phone below the volume rocker on a Moto X 2nd gen, which is a problem with some other holders. Specifically, the top of the arms contacts the phone about 6.5 cm above the bottom of the phone, so as long as your controls are higher up than that you should be fine. Because of the way I'm using it, I wish the top would rotate relative to the base, but it's doesn't seem to; but this can mostly be overcome with some combination of man-handling the neck to the right angle and rotating the face plate. Lastly, for the moto x I am finding a normal squeeze clicks the arms into a position that holds the phone well enough to keep it from falling out with the feet out, but not snuggly. This is fine for me -- I can actually just lift the phone out the top and drop it back in that way rather than fussing with the release button. A firmer squeeze gets one more click and then it's held snuggly if that's what you prefer, but it does take a bit of squeeze and I question how long the unit will hold up to that daily. Aesthetically, it's fairly clean and unobtrusive. For the price (currently around ten bucks here) it's definitely a five star.

Great phone holder that's easy to install and doesn't vibrate
This works perfect for me. I needed a cell phone holder that would place the phone just out from under the upper dash panel of my car. With there being one cup holder in that area that was actually an awkward reach for a cup holder, this was a perfect solution. It is easily installed ... just place it in the cup holder and unscrew the nut to expand the base until it fits tight. Once installed, it is easy to adjust the flexible arm to where you need it to be. One thing, this one has a SHORT flexible arm. If you need it to move more than a couple of inches, they also make one with a longer flexible arm. The phone is easily attached by means of squeezing the padded side brackets and is released with a simple push of the button on the back side. It stays put and doesn't vibrate so you can actually read the map as you drive. (I know you're not texting and driving, after all.) And if you need to move it to another car, just screw the nut back down to release the grip of the base in the cup holder. I highly recommend this.

Actually works!
Finally, a phone holder that I like and actually works. I drive a 2012 Toyota Prius. I’ve honestly tried at least 5 other holders and hated them all. It was easy set up. Click 2 pieces together, adjust to fit snuggly in cup holder and then attach to phone. I recently started driving for ride share and neede something that safely held my phone but allowed me to use it how I wanted. After some mixed reviews on cup holder devices, I was hesitant, however, I’ve never successfully used any of the suction mode devices, so I thought I’d give it a try. I love that it’s close to me, both so that I can see it and I can easily use the phone (while stopped) without having to take it out if the holder. The only drawback I can think of is how peripheral sight may be impacted. I’m tall, so my seat is pushed all the way back and the angle is perfect. I think a shorter person could have issues with their chair being further forward,!it would all depend on where exactly your cup holder is in your vehicle. Overall, I’m very pleased.

Installed in 2016 Ford F-150
Works good in my F150. I can still fit a drink in the other cub holder with no issue. My phone does have a Otter Box case. The width of the clamp on the holder is fine (opens wide), but the clamp arm could be a litter bigger. The pad section that grips the phone is not as big when phone has a case. The holder does still hold the phone well.

Great quality, Excellent Price
This phone holder is exactly what I needed for my new car. It looks and feels like a high-end, top quality piece of gear, and is surprisingly inexpensive. I have a car where the design of the dash and interior leaves almost no room for other types of phone mounts (Mercedes GLC). I saw a version of this mount on the Weather Tech site, I almost bought it, but decided $45 was too much for a device to hold my phone in the car. Yikes! This mount is similar, but a much better value. It adjusted easily to my cup holder, taking just a few twists that expand the base to just the right size. It is sturdy and easily holds my iPhone 8 in place (with case). It could hold a much bigger phone, so you plus phone people could use it, too. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. Less than $20! Great job, Macally.

Great fit for F150
Build quality is great. Feels sturdy. Just expand the bottom part to adjust for the perfect fit. Great position for my f150. I don't really have the need for both centers cup holders so this is great. It does not get in the way of shifter. Maybe on second cup if phone rotated but not big deal. Would highly recommend. I didn't like the placement of all the other cell phone mounts put there

Great Phone Holder.
This phone holder is awesome. I just bought a new Kia and this thing works great. I wish the Arm was about 1 inch taller, but it's still fine. Very sturdy and it leaves the charging point open so the cable will fit. I have a Samsung Edge 7 with an Otterbox Defender Case and this easily fits with about an inch to spare, so i'm confident that this will fit any phone. THe only downside is that my wife has to hold her drink in her hand now :-) Good thing there's a holder in the door too she can use if she wants. The bottom part expands so it will fit any cup holder. Took me a sec to figure it out because it's the opposite of "righty Tighty, Lefty Loosy" if you know what I mean. But it's easy to figure out.

Mounting is easy and very secure
Exceeds expectations! Mounting is easy and very secure. Drop in cupholder and twist the knob until its tight--rubber edges prevent scuffs and scratches. Phone cradle is also very secure. Looks like neoprene slip proof rubber on the back and sides--again, makes a very secure connection while preventing scuffs and scratches to your phone. Place your phone on the holder and squeeze the size bars/clips until tight...to release simply press the button on back and it releases. Easily adjusts to both iphone 5 and 6s, but I'm positive it will accommodate larger phones. This holder works with phones in cases (some do not, I found out the hard way.) Also, I have battery case on my phone which makes it considerably bigger and heavier (about 1/4" to each side and the top and about 3/8" to the back and bottom) but it holds my phone with ease! Super happy with this holder and would definitely recommend to family and friends.

Very adjustable phone holder
All in all I like this phone holder. I was about to buy one that sits on the dashboard so I wouldn't have to look down like I do with this one. However, after reading reviews about phones over heating from being up by the windshield, I decided on this one. It works just fine sitting in my cup holder. Now the part that I dislike. Even from taking it out of the box I noticed that the goose neck swivels a bit from the base instead of staying in place. This allows the phone to move from where you initially positioned it but not by a lot, maybe 1.5 inches. It could be just mine, maybe not. Other than that I do like the functionality of this holder. Four star durability rating was because of the looseness.

this thing is beefy! just remember righty - loosey, lefty - tighty...lol LG
It threads different...to tighten it into you cup holder you turn it to the left not right (hence the phrase: righty - tighty) Which is a nice feature because it prevents you from over tightening or stripping it out which would be tough in the first place and causing any damage to the holder. This thing is stout. The neck is thick and it takes some strength to man handle it into the perfect angle for your riding position, glare, eye level, etc. But once you've got it dialed in, it'll never move unless you want it to. In the box I could have sworn it was 100% metal but the ABS plastic they must use is industrial grade. My dog crawls over this thing 10 times when we're going somewhere and the neck remains in place, as hard as my Chihuahua tries to send a text with those long nails, not happening Dexter. The gripper might wobble a teeny bit but it's not going anywhere. And the design to have it clamped from the sides with a lot of surface area, supported with 2 braces from the bottom and still allowing my power cord to come up from underneath and have easy access and the one-touch quick release to pull it out of the gripper....and it's not falling apart after how many thousands of releases I"ve done to pull the phone out and go walking mobile. My only minor issue would bet the plastic has a nice pro finish to it that it's kind of slick and my hand strength isn't what it use to be. but that's not the products fault. If my dog Dexter had opposing thumbs I'd make him screw it in there - and it's easy to take in and out when you're washing your car and you wanna get the dog hair out from under your MCUP or all that console crap. Tip/trick - I had some black soft sticky backed tape that I cut into about 1/2" by 1" pieces and stuck to the outside perimeter of the base of the unit. So when you tighten the base, this sticky closed cell foam tape really grips the sidewalls of your cup holder, regardless of what you drive. Helps here in Colorado as we have roads that are just slightly better than Fallujah or Beirut in the 70's. So with these potholes my holder goes nowhere even better. Klller product made in the USA
