I did a fair amount of research on South American hammocks and hammock-type therapy swings, and the Vivere Oasis was the best product I found in terms of price, size, weight capacity and color options. We purchased this hammock for our autistic son's 4th birthday, and it's been a very fun and therapeutic gift for him. He wasn't super excited about it until we hung it up in the center of our living room, but now he wants to play in it all the time. Hung correctly from a single point in a ceiling joist, our son can swing and spin on his tummy, back or bottom. Our room isn't quite roomy enough for total clearance of every surface, so we have our guy wear a helmet and use his swing under our supervision. And WE can even enjoy the hammock swing as parents, because it's a sturdy product with such a high weight capacity! While this isn't technically a therapy tool, it serves that purpose very well, and could easily be made into a simple platform swing by slipping an upholstered board in the bottom. We haven't used it as a traditional hammock yet, but it's very packable and easy to hang, so I'm sure we'll bring it along for outdoor use on some of our trips. I haven't been able to wrestle it away from my son long enough to launder it, but it appears to be very good quality fabric/weaving that will wash and dry well. I chose the "Oasis" blue/green color scheme, and it actually looks pretty nice with our neutral decor. Yeah, we still have a large hammock hanging from a chain in our living room, but the color scheme blends in much better than the traditional bright primary colors that are typically used for these hammocks, especially when it's not in use and "tied" up in a loose knot so it's out of the way.

I bought this item as an extra for the Vivere double hammock with space-saving stand. I thought that it might be a little longer than the original and it was. I had to put the hanging hooks on the stand six spaces down instead of three. If it stretches, I guess I'll put a knot in the strings to shorten it. But it works for me. Oh, the item description says that it includes a zippered carrying bag. Mine did not. It would have been good to have it, though. 9-22-2017 comment: I was curious about some of the other hammocks which had great Amazon reviews and ordered one in the same price range as this one. It was OK but definitely inferior to Vivere in fabric quality, stitching detail, and especially the hanging ropes and loops. For my purposes, Vivere is the only way to go!

Haven't had it too long yet so if anything breaks, I'll amend the review - but I LOVE this hammock!!! Got it to take camping (among other things), and it is exactly what I was hoping for. My boyfriend and I could both sit in it comfortably (and together we probably weigh around 400lb), and it was a dream to relax and read my book all afternoon in this hammock.

I had been fantasizing about spending lazy summer days in a hammock drinking mint julep while reading a great mystery novel for weeks...but the reality was that my schedule doesn't allow for leisurely reading, hanging from trees or sipping southern comfort drinks. So I never got around to ordering a hammock after spending some time researching them. Then, I found out my inlaws were coming for an extended visit and I saw my chance to justify the purchase! We gave my inlaws one son's room and used the hammock under the other son's loft bed, sort of like a lower bunk but cooler. It worked out great--my son slept very well once he got the hang of sleeping at the proper 45 degree angle! The hammock itself is very well made and sturdy. It is definitely long enough for even my 6'3" husband to be comfortable in it. The colors are vibrant without being garish. It is supposed to be able to fit two people and I am sure it can but there wouldn't be the same cocoon-like feel that it has when one person is in it. I love the thickness of the end that you connect to the hooks (hooks are not included but easily available at any hardware store). There is no way that these will fail to support the hammock or come undone. The fabric is not supersoft like a plush blanket but is comfortable cotton. All in all, I am very happy with this purchase and now just need to find the time to enjoy it myself!

Soooo comfortable & highly recommended! If you have ever chilled in a hammock on your vacation, that feeling can last beyond your time off- This relaxing hammock turned my boring backyard into a backyard retreat. As an Amazon shopper I wanted the best for the best PRICE-- so I ordered 2 hammocks, one a little less expensive than the Vivere and this one----the Vivere wins!! Material is better quality & the width is just right. If your wondering 2 person vs. 1 person hammock, I recommend the 2 person for EVERYONE- the width on this hammock is perfect for sideways lounging which has become my favorite way to be lazy! So comfortable & extremely durable- I've been lounging in it with my pups for a whole month with & no complaints from any of us---well, I guess I do have one wish-would LOVE a sewn-in drink holder! Margaritas anyone?!?! It's Simply wonderful!!

It's perfect! It is made of canvas material...it will stain if left in weather. This is more of an indoor type...perfect for a covered porch or patio.

I have a stand for my hammock. My old cloth hammock finally needed to be replaced. This one seemed really short when I took it out. The cords are really thick and seemed short. Well... they stretch with use and are perfect now. The interesting thing is that this one is more comfortable than my last one. I have no idea how that is possible from a piece of cloth. But the sides to ride up as high when you are in it. They must give more room on the outside edges when they make the hammock.

I started sleeping in this hammock instead of having a bed. I have no intention to switch back. Its a great size. Looks fantastic. Not the softest thing in the world though. Meaning while its not uncomfortable, its also not soft. its simply OK. its like a canvas type material one could say. Thats just how it feels to touch though. Laying in it, its extremely comfortable. Skin contact wise is the "discomfort" which really isnt much. Also not the warmest hammock, its thin-ish. Which isnt a problem if you have a blanket or something. Main thing with hammocks is having a blanket BELOW you. then its fine. Wish it was softer/thicker so I didnt need a blanket under me though.

I was the envy of the campgrounds this weekend. Quality is excellent, double size made it so comfy and I never felt like I was going to fall out. I should have charged admission to relax in it. But that would have required me getting out of it.... Was comfy for a couple of couples that got in it too. At one point I was told to get out of it, then in the process of getting up, found another comfy position and stayed another 10 minutes while getting yelled at.

I purchased this hammock to replace an older hammock. It was reasonably priced, which provided great incentive. Initially, when I put the hammock on the stand, it went all the way to the ground. I was so disappointed. I thought I would have to return it until . . . I realized the stand is adjustable. I moved the hooks down three notches, and voila - problem solved. I was in the hammock in mere minutes after making the adjustment, and life has been hammockrific every since. We love this product. Our hammock is many years old, and still going strong. It weathers well too. It's in the backyard full time. We remove the hammock during the winter, but during Summer, Spring and most of Fall, it's outside in the elements. The stand stays outside 100% of the time. Last year, the stand started to rust a bit. I bought some black, rust resistant spray paint and painted it. Still looks like new (except where I relocated the hooks).
