I bought both the tube product and this maze from A-MAZE-N to provide short (2 h) and longer (up to 10 h) smoking cycles in my grill. The tube worked well each time I used it. The first time I used the maze I filled two-thirds of the path so that I would get about 6-7 h of smoke. If you look at the product, it is rectangular. After lighting, I put it into the corner of a rectangular gas grill. As it turned out that was a mistake. The pellets produced smoke as the burn advanced down the first row, and then it got to the corner of the maze, which was in the corner of the grill. I think this concentrated and reflected the heat being generated, and the pellets reignited, and then the remaining pellets just burned rather than smoldering and smoking. Fortunately I caught it, and did not inadvertently hot smoke my ham. It is not a problem with the product. It was operator misjudgment. The second time I moved the grid/maze away from the corner so that there would be more cooling. I got through a 6 h smoking cycle without a hitch. The manual does suggest that if you are hot smoking, and running your gas grill to cook something, the pellets may ignite, and you may need a heat shield. Just something to consider when you use it. I'll just point out that although there are products geared for 2 h, and intermediate length smoking cycles, this maze can get you a wide range of smoking times. All you need to do is adjust how long your fill line is. It has three rows if you will. If you fill just the first row, you will get about 3 h of smoke. Fill two, and you get 6 h. Fill it all the way, and I suspect you will get close to the 10 h that the product advertises. Although I bought both products and don't regret it, if you want to buy just one, this is the more flexible one in my view.

I have a masterbuilt thermotemp smoker and the amount of smoke that it would put out was very low especially at 225°. I think that the heat shield above the propane flame does not allow enough heat to touch the chip pan. There was practically no visible smoke coming out of it. With this pellet smoker there is more than enough for me to get a great smoke ring around a brisket. I included a picture and video and I could not be happier with the purchase.

I was going to wait till I finished using the product, but I only made it an hour in and decided i am going to be purchasing another one of these and a gift to my grandparents. (Follow the lightning steps) let it stay on fire for 10 minuets or so then blow it out and let the smoke begin! If you like making jerky then this is a must try. It’s been burning for an hour and it looks like it just started but the smoke if just rolling out of my grill. It’s holds 1 pound of pellets perfect.

I've been thoroughly satisfied with this. I've used it on my Charbroil infrared grill, but primarily in my 40" Masterbuilt Electric Smoker (MES). That is, I was happy once I learned the quirks. On first use I was a bit upset because I could not keep the pellets lit to save my life - for 2 reasons, number one, I didn't know the tips and tricks (either pull out chip loader by 2", or fully, remove the chip tray, exhaust wide open), number 2, I was using Cherry pellets, which from what I've read are fairly notoriously hard to light in the first place. I learned these from the Smoking Meat forum site, and the creator of this maze is a member. Additionally, there are different tips for different brands of smokers. Once I learned this, my pellets always stay lit, and I use A-Maze-n brand pellets, I've easily got 11 hours of smoke out of a brisket, and probably had enough time for at least another half hour before I hit target temperature.

I have been searching and trying different things to get the Hickory flavored smoke that I remember as a boy. Even went so far as to buy one of those pellet smokers. Still was not that sweat hickory flavor. Then I went with this amazing smoke generator. Now I was smoking meat with that wonderful flavor I was looking for. I was concerned with the amount of smoke this generates and did not fill the pellets to near the top. Seems if the valley is only half filled that it tends to go out. So fill the valley to about 90% fill and it burns from end to end. But you do not have to fill the whole thing up. Fill only one valley for about 3 or so hours. Anyway I am loving the flavor of my smoke meats. and this was the trick to get what I have been craving for.

I was absolutely blown away by this product, and the company behind it. I cold smoked some cheese the day after I got it, 100% success, a work potluck saw 3 lbs of cheese disappear in half an hour. I was asked what it would cost me to smoke cheese for some coworkers. This won't work well in a vertical propane type smoker, due to the lack of available oxygen, so keep that in mind. I too had issues keeping my pellets lit, and after reading the instructions a short round of googling I discovered that pellets absorb moisture pretty readily, and that water tray contributed to the problem. Potentially high local humidity contributed as well, and this can be resolved either using a microwave on short bursts or an oven to dry the pellets out. 10/10 would buy again.

Used this inside our masterbuilt electric smoker. Delicious, Billowing smoke coming out of the vent for the whole cook. (The basket is designed in a zig zag so the pellets burn continuously) We are texans and have eaten our weight in ribs - these ribs were the best we've ever made or eaten. Amazing smoky flavor. Highly recommend!

I purchased one for myself and one for a friend. We both tried pellets and wood chips in them. If you do try wood chips, they do not work very well, we have had mixed success with wood chips, mostly keeping them lit for a long time. Though when we did keep them lit, they only provided about 3-4 hours of smoke. However the chips did provide some extra heat to warm up the BBQ as well as the smoker, so all in all not bad. With using pellets, I do not push them in tight, they are decently snug but semi loose. I do use a blow torch to start them off, give them a good minute burn then blow on the end like stoking a camp fire. After a few moments it works out well and burns quite good. Now I have not yet hit the 10-12 hour mark as claimed, but I do get on average about 6 hours from it. Now of course the pellets used will vary in times and temperature, find the right pellets for you and away you go. I have not tried sawdust in them because in my area, it is easier to get pellets, and as stated above, they work just fine. For anyone that is buying one, they work like a champ once you learn them, they are not all that hard and do a good job, just need a little encouragement to get them going, but once going, they work well. My only complaint is that the company does not offer a larger version for when you want to do a cold smoke on a large fillet of salmon or the meat of your choice. If the company does look at these from time to time, I have this to say. I do love your product, but please make a larger version for those of us with a bigger smoker. But final words, it is indeed worth the purchase and I am very pleased with the product.

Great for cold smoking salmon. Lite the A-MAZE pellets and let it burn for 10 minutes, blow out the flame, and your ready to smoke for hours.

Update 8/15/17 Be careful when starting the pellets on fire. I was a little too careless this last weekend and caught the whole thing on fire. Man, the black smoke it produced and the temp jump up to 300f was not fun, but using silicone gloves, I took it out and sprayed it down with a hose to kill it. So be careful for how much smoke you really want :) Update 8/11/17 So after removing the wood chip delivery tube and keeping the vent wide open on my Masterbuilt electric smoker, I was getting tons of smoke from the Amazen Pellet Smoker. I had lit both sides of it, but didn't need too, but may do so next time cause I love the smoke! Completely full and burning from both sides, it took about 6 hours to burn itself empty. I loaded it again and only started one side the next time, which produced enough smoke to satisfy me, and it ran for about 12 hours. Pork shoulder came out great! This system is so much better than wood chips and I highly recommend it. --------------- So my first attempt at using this didn't work that well. I followed the written instructions but even leaving my vent fully open, the pellets would die after about 20 minutes. Afterwards I googled and found that on Masterbuilt electric smokers you need to pull out the wood chip delivery tube in addition to opening the vent fully so that the pellets get enough air to smolder. I'll update my review after trying this tip.
