Remove the bolt it works great
I read the reviews and still bought it because it was the best value I could find. I went ahead and drilled out the center but could get the hole big enough to clear the flange on the bolt of the primary chain so I looked on Alldata to see if the gear would fall off if I took the bolt out and found that the hub was on a long shaft so no problem. I removed the tentioner to relieve some slack and installed the tool easily then put the bolt back in for insurance that the tool couldn't come out. Worked great. And yes one pin came bent but staightend right up.

Worth Every Penny
I have been a mechanic for many years. The first time I installed the timing chain set on a Dodge 4.7 ( without this tool), it took hours. I had a problem with a cheap timing set, so I had to redo the job. With this tool it took minutes. What helped me is holding the big gear upside down, letting gravity work for me. I could really be sure I had the plated links in the right places and then all I had to do is slip the tool in and lock it down. I did not use rubber bands and was easily able to align chains and secondary gears.

Special Tool
The Chrysler Secondary Camshaft Chain Holder 522902, is a must when installing the Secondary Timing Chain Kit. Some guys alleged you can install the timing chains without this tool. This may be true if your auto tech skills are "A" Level, by using rubber bands. I suggest buying the tool, one mistake can cause you $$$$$. The chains have to be install correctly in order for them to go on the camshaft gear right. Installing Tips: Ensure the tool is locked in, ensure the camshaft gears are line up with the V8 mark at 12 O'clock, you should install rubber bands close to the secondary crankshaft gear to ensure the chain stay in place during installation, once you get one secondary chain install on the camshaft, secure the other secondary chain, remove the tool to allow easy line up for the second secondary chain to be install on the camshaft without trying to force it on.

Worked well on a Dodge 4.7 liter engine.
I used it only once, but it was essential for that engine repair.

Works just as advertised
Not sure what any bad reviews are on this, it works perfectly when used correctly. The pins on mine were solid and if you lift the timing chains on both sides tight to the sprocket the pins slide right in underneath and hold the chains great. Huge help to keep the chains in place during my head replacement.

I don't know what all the bad reviews are about
I don't know what all the bad reviews are about. I am a shop and I wish I had this tool sooner. Sure makes installing these chains so much easier.

nice time saver over all the redneck'd means of holding chains in place :)

A MUST for Chrysler 3.7/4.7 timing jobs
This tool makes a timing chain replacement for the Chrysler 3.7/4.7 engines MUCH easier. Used it for a 2003 Ram 4.7 and it worked perfectly. Cheap investment for the use you get from it
