Much better than people expect in playability, sound and portability!
Is this the perfect bass? No. Is it the perfect solution to certain problems? Yes! First, because it matters, it's very playable. I agree with others that the thighrest is pretty useless, even sitting, so I VERY rarely use it, and when I do, it's usually backwards. The finish is satin polyurethane. It works and looks nice. The natural look is your Henry Ford choice of finishes, by the way. The frets are set and crowned pretty decently. Remember, this is not a studio ax and it's not in the $1K+ range, never mind multi-$K range. I have lots of basses and find this quite playable (4 string) with a reasonably shallow neck. You can barely hear it other than string slap if you are good with your setup. Mine arrived low enough and not buzzing. I do not like roundwounds. This is a subject of discussion and addresses playability and sound. I replaced the supplied roundwound D'Addarios with ultralight halfrounds, which are thankfully back in proper form after a long, sad hiatus. These strings play like flats but sound like piano rounds, ringy and singy when knew, and they mellow up and can last for years with a fat and snappy low end. Ultralights are easy to push around, which is great for expression. As a former violinist, this is something I demand. And I was gambling but wowza! This supplied "Shadow Piezo" is punchy for a low-mass bass, has tons of bandwidth and is more than good enough for busking or puny-venue playing with a 50W amp like my MarkBass 8. Poifect! I am adding a simple 3-band active eq to it. I cannot stand having to lean or get up to change settings on the amp and am not usually keen on using stompboxes. That is pretty much my only complaint with the sound. Sustain is what you'd expect from a low-mass ax, as is the lowest extension, another reason to put a little 9V eq on this. I'm trying a cheapie first as proof of concept. If it does what I hope, addressing sustain some and low end extension, I'll reinvest in a better eq. I do not expect this to sustain for minutes like my old Aria EB400 did, but then, that weighed 5 times as much. Out of the box, it's loud, punchy (it IS a piezo, after all) and has plenty of high end bandwidth to kick over guitar effects if you use them, too. I tried a Vocoder Tube on it. Usually on basses, the low end shatters your jaw or teeth. At least it feels like that. The upward lift of the response of this pickup and the volume make it behave more guitary. Yep, that's a word now that I said it! I've used it on bunches of other processors from the 70s to now, mostly for bass, some for guitar. So, fun times, especially on my original EH BassBalls! So, the sounds is more than serviceable and plenty good enough in small places or for busking. I cannot recommend it more for that. It's perfect for that. And the fact that it is the smallest REAL bass guitar in the "known realms," and it's built as a one-piece trussed ax, so it's durable, you really can't do better for $4 Beans. It's easy to bring anywhere, it is easy to play even in the tightest situations and it sounds reasonable even through a little Mouse amp, with a little care in prepping it and taking it easy, good enough for jamming with an acoustic bass in the living room without waking the kids or the neighbors! It's not a replacement for your other basses, and I have a few, too, but it sure impresses people when I show up somewhere with an itty-bitty Traveler Ultralight and that tiny MarkBass amp! Perfect for the purposes you even be here reading this offering on AMZ!

Highly recommend for frequent travlera
My wife just got this for me for my bday. I travel for work and this bass will be perfect. I added the vox bass headphone amp and some ear plugs and it’s golden. It’s not gonna ever replace my ric but it’s gonna be awesome for random nights on the road (and for flight delays/layovers). Good product.

Awesome little instrument, perfect choice for travelers!
I received my Traveler Bass Guitar perfectly on time. Since I travel a lot and I still learning to play this instrument, it is very-very useful. Flying around with it is very easy, I don't experience any problems at airport security. Playing this guitar is also very easy, and I actually like the sound of it too. It has a bit 'metallic' sound, but that will decrease in time normally. I use it with a Korg Pandora guitar processor and headphones, so it completes my small travel intrument kit perfectly. The only thing which I did not like in it, was the thigh support, which is made of slippery stainless steel. It is so slippery, that the instrument does not rest on my thigh, it always slips away. Finally, I wrapped the support in tennis grips, which works fine for me, however this tigh support should be redesigned I think. But the instrument is a very good choice I think, if you travel a lot and you want to take an instrument with you. Perfect, thank you travelerguitar.com for creating this!

This is a terrific product
I have a Traveler guitar that goes with me all over the world. My son wanted to start playing the bass and I got him the Traveler Bass - He loves it. It plays well and he keeps it out where he can play it easily. He took it with him on a trip to London last week. Excellent product design.

I reccommend.
Excellent bass guitar. Of course it doesn't have the best bass sound I have ever heard, but sounds really nice for training and playing (not for recording). Very light and small. Excellent for travelers. Better than I expected and exactely what I needed.

Great quality
I've always wanted a bass guitar that I could carry with me everywhere. This also came in handy while I was deployed, was able to keep playing without having a bass take up a lot of space. I'll be taking it back with me and don't anticipate any issues with taking it on the plane with me. The build quality is great and it sounds great. It is quite light, I suggest using a strap with it. Does everything I need it too and more!

Great for someone in a wheelchair
I have had the ultra light guitar for a while and both are great. I am paralyzed from chest down and these are what works for me playing in the wheelchair or even in bed. I have an Irig and use garage band with my iPad when not using a regular amp. There aren’t volume or tone controls on the guitar or the bass which is fine with me to keep the weight down. When I play through an amp I use a Beringer equalizer pedal to adjust tone and output level. They have sell a guitar and bass pedal. Personally I think the pedals work better than having tone and volume on the instrument. I’m just learning bass and was getting a lot of noise from my fingers sliding on the strings, (my crumby playing not the basses fault). I put some tape wound strings on it and it sounds great. I think they give it a deeper tone and help with my poor technique. These definetly do not sound like traditional bass or guitars. But for just grabbing and playing they are excellent. If you use a wheelchair and or have back issues or if you want something you can take with you anyplace check them out. The only issue I have is that when it’s in the included bag it looks like it could be an assault riffle. Not a good thing at the VA hospital or the airport 8( I have a regular sized electric guitar gig bag that holds both the bass and the guitar with the included bags perfectly. Both together probably weigh less than a single instrument.

Traveler ULB
I went to the music store to try it out, but no one had it in the store (in my area). I took a chance and ordered it anyway. I was impressed by the size, the weight and the style but I was more impressed by the feel and sound. This is my 3rd bass guitar and now it's my favorite. I love it!
