Classic, the best
As others have mentioned, not only is this high quality construction, but is designed for a true martini, i.e. 3 oz gin with a dash of vermouth; this ain't one of those gigantic glasses for those super immense martini-like cocktails you can order at the Cheesecake Factory.

Perfect size for a martini!
These glasses are beautiful! They are extremely light and fragile but we are so happy with this purchase! As long as you wash by hand and hand dry they will be fine. Most martini glasses are the size of fish bowls. Finally found the right size. The martini looks fabulous!

great glasses
I am a recent riedel convert, having attended a wine tasting by riedel and discovering the difference the correct glass can make to the aroma and flavor of a glass of wine. I bought these for my husband, hoping they would do the same for scotch. Although my husband is not in love with the look of them (not manly enough, I guess, and they feel a little dainty), they really bring the nose alive on the scotch, which of course, impacts the flavor profile. A worthy purchase!

All the difference in the world
I've recently been reintroducing myself to brandy, having focused my attention over the last years on wine and whiskies. When I noticed my glassware had a huge hole in it--no brandy snifter--I did some research and discovered that snifters hadn't been taken seriously by cognac lovers for a long time. Too much surface area means too much alcohol in the nose and much of the fruit from the cognac is lost in the burn. The glasses have been every bit as perfect for brandy and cognac as advertised and they are easily the most beautiful glasses in an extensive collection. They're even gorgeous when they're empty (although better with cognac, of course).

Beautiful and just perfect for a 3oz cocktail!
Beautiful and just perfect for a 3oz cocktail! Not sure if these are truly machine wash friendly and they are quite expensive that I just wash them by hand

Perfect size for a martini
Perfect size for a martini. If you are looking for that overly large cocktail glass take a pass. If not, one ounce vermouth, 1.25-1.5 oz gin, shake with ice for 15 seconds and strain into glass. It fills glass to the rim and doesn't put you out of commission.

There are No Better Goblets
These are the ultimate, one glass to have. Perfect goblets for water, iced beverages and anything else. These can be used for everyday or in a formal table setting. Ideal weight and balance. They are pretty durable and go in the dishwasher. Because they're used so much, we occasionally break one through our own fault but keep replacing them. I just outfitted another house with a large set of these. Occasionally Amazon has "four for three" specials on these, where you pay for three (sets of two glasses) and get four. I'll use these forever.

Classic martini glass, consider buying the big brother too!
As others mention, a perfect size for a traditional martini, manhattan, or similar cocktail with a shot-and-a-half of liquid. Anything more and you'll overflow this glass. This glass is a pleasure to hold and look at while you drink: it's a perfect, classic size and has beautiful proportions. Nice weight in the hand. If you want to make bigger drinks with more booze or mixer, consider the equally nice but larger Vinum XL glasses. Or cover all the bases and do what I did: buy both!

Size has changed a bit
These really are wonderful. I discovered them when a waiter at Gary Danko brought me a taster of Hendricks Gin in one a few years back. I immediately set out in search of the glass. Obviously, these are for drinking neat rather than on the rocks. (I tend to add a half of a small ice cube - chills it a wee bit - allows that extra bit of aroma to mingle with the liquid - works for me.) Do they enhance the flavor of scotch over other shapes of glasses? I have no idea. It's probably more marketing than anything else. I still dig 'em anyway. Just a small note: I bought these to replace a few of mine that had been broken over time. These are slightly larger than those I bought the first time around. Not by much, but noticeable. Base is slightly differently shaped. No biggie, really. Just sos you knows.

Thank you, Riedel!
I have been enjoying single malt scotch since back in the '70's. For a long time the selection available here in the States was quite limited. My normal choice of glass was a brandy snifter. The recent explosion of available brands of single malt caused me to branch out and try a couple other varities with mixed results. After reading the descriptions of some varities online, I found I just wasn't sensitive enough to discover the aromas and tastes they were experiencing. I was just about to settle back with my old favorite, (Can I name brands here?), Glenfiddich, when I discovered the availability of specialized tasting glasses while searching online. I never thought the shape of a glass could make so much difference! These specialized glasses have opened new doors, or should I say new bottles, to the single malt scotch world for me. Is it the curve of the rim? I don't know. I can't say that I am smelling and tasting all of what the 'experts' claim is there, but they do make a difference. If you have any interest in exploring single malt scotches these specialized glasses are a must have. And I may be bordering on sacrilege, but I've tried a little rum in them and they seem to work for that spirit also.
