One of the easier repairs I've done on the 05 taurus. Rough, slow, and then finally a no crank condition. She starts perfectly now. First time every, every time. No mounting bolts came with this so preserve the originals. Old boot wouldn't fit over new studs but oh well.

My son has a 2003 Mercury Sable which has been giving him problems. A shop had replaced the starter about 2 years ago, and his battery was nearly new and still tested as good. Pulling out and reinstalling the old starter lasted for about 10 days before it started giving problems again. My opinion was that the pinion was binding with the flywheel teeth, or the solenoid was not engaging properly. Not wanting to spend another $100-150 for another starter, I searched Amazon to see what was available online. Found this item from DB Electrical and seeing that the price was much more favorable than the big box stores here in town, I placed my order. My shipment arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and comparing the new unit to the old one in the car, it looks to be an exact duplicate. We installed the new starter, and it was a perfect fit. All bolts, nuts, and mounting holes threaded nicely, no issues or problems. The starter worked perfectly and the engine fired right up. DB Electrical did a great job getting the right item to me at a reasonable price, and I find the starter I received worthy of 5-stars. If we have problems in the near future, I will adjust my rating appropriately. Otherwise, I think this product is a good choice.

Car:2002 Ford Taurus 3.0L V6 LX OHV (NOT DOHC, look on on top of engine, check google images). Original Ford (case)part number(whch didnt last long) MOLDED INTO CASE is F3DU-11131-AA (Note:this is only the CASE number, the part number sticker hasd worn off)) (I think the important number for this part is 6642, you check) IT HAS 12 TEETH. First I thought intermittent starting was the battery but had it tested so focus went to the starter. Repair shop wanted 240 to change it. Took it out, pretty easy, DISCONNECT BATTERY!,PUT ON PARKING BRAKE TIGHT!,CHOCK REAR WHEEL with a brick, stone, curb (whatever). Jacked up front passenger side (just enough because I dont have a jackstand.)Make sure kids (anyone) does not get in or shift the car around. Squeeze under the front. Disconnect the small nut 10mm (ignition wire),took off power wire(1/2" nut), Took out the top bolt from above with a ratchet with 1/2" socket and a shorty extension (or 1/2" open end from below). (would have been nice to have a bungee cord or something here to support the back end of the starter). back under the car, Removed the lower bolt, These bolts are tight (dont hurt your hand!). STARTER IS HEAVY!, dont let it fall on you. Starter out and I tested it using this video [...]. (NOTE:not the same starter in video) Starter was bad. Local parts places wanted 139-149 plus core deposit. Ordered THIS item (DB Electrical SFD0041) from DB ELECTRICAL STARTER-ALTERNATOR on a friday at 1.45pm FOR $55.20 (0.00 shipping. no core, FED-EX, Tracking).Although estimated was longer the item arrived (TN TO VA) THE NEXT DAY AROUND 12 NOON! Picture is accurate except it does not show that the holes are threaded and YES THEY ARE THREADED.Dont worry about the tip (slightly extended, it fits) Nuts, washers and lock-washers. Qualty item, boxed, NEW. Reinstalled in reverse order. WORKING PERFECT. NOTE: The small ignition nut was a PITA to get back on once it is in (if you can put this wire on before then good) ALSO: DONT OVERTIGHTEN THE ELECTRICAL NUTS, the plastic is very hard and can crack.(they NEED to be tight but be careful) Im very happy with the item and the company. i will order from them again.

Updating 1-31-2019: Bought this back in 2016 and it's been working every since until around 4 days ago where it started getting weak. I honestly believe it could have been from the oil getting over it and the constant heat. 3 reliable years and it JUST NOW stopped working. Yes, I'm ordering it again ;-) If I had a heatshield over it to block the heat and any oil mess from the cable lines, this bad boy probably would have given me another 3-4 years. So anyone thinking on it, ignore the 1 stars and order it, it's good. 2016: Bought this I think last year... still working like a charm. No issues, more quiet, faster spinning and simply works. The drain on the power is way less too by the way.

I was a little leery at first but it seemed to be of decent quality upon opening the box. Installed fine and is working fine. Has very good cranking speed. It has only been on for a week so I can not say its long term durability. I have purchased much more expensive starters (ACDelco) that were made in China also and didn't appear to be of any higher quality... Installed on a 2007 Ford Taurus 3.0 V6.

Works well right off the bat. 10 mm and 14 mm short wells for the new solenoid nuts and 13 mm ratcheting wrench for the two starter bolts, one goes in starter side, the other transmission side. Despite other reviews there is plenty of room for the bolt on the solenoid side because that's not the side you place the upper bolt. The lower goes from starter side into the bell housing. Place the starter in gear first then move into position and insert lower bolt, do not fully tighten. Insert top bolt and tighten fully, tighten lower bolt fully after. My AC compressor took a sh*t a while ago, so that system is removed. Starter itself came in unbranded box with a sheet of certification numbers. It makes a very nice sound. Will update upon failure, if I remember that long down the road. $45 bucks, can't beat it, high quality construction.

Just like the $160.00 ones at Auto Box stores! 2004 Mercury Sable 3.0L - installed from bottom, car up on a lift in under 15 minutes! 2 -13 mm bolts and 2 connections which are both different sizes and you are done. An extra pair of hands does help in this process. Spraying the old starter with carb cleaner (cool engine) and a car wash wand does remove a lot of gunk before removal helps make the MUCH job cleaner.

It was installed on my 2002 Taurus and it worked straight away. It appears to be well made. Installation was straight forward. It's hard to get to the top bolt when you are installing it. One 10mm nut and 3 -13,mm nuts and you are ready to go. Having a u-joint for your socket is a must on the top nut. no core was required shipping was quickn

I've had this on my 05 Sable since March 2017 and it's still working perfectly. When I put it on, I was doing pizza delivery, so lots of stopping and re-starting the engine. Over two years later, she still fires up right away every time

Works as advertised! We bought this about a year ago, didn't want to make the review too early to tell if it really works or not. We have had no trouble, it fit like original. Was a 1/4 of price of what we could get it at local part store. Also did NOT have to worry about a core charge. And to date no problems.
